Hi,

I was cleaning my trailer and noticed some roof damage.

The trailer was purchased new a few months ago, and I have no idea what could have caused this. Does this look like a warranty issue, or does int look like I damaged it?

The problem is I have a trip planned on thursday...not sure if I have time to get this fixed by the dealer. Is it an easy fix? Or should I wait for the dealer (not in until monday )

Some more pics:

Easy fix...get a piece of EternaBond Tape from WalMart, or a RV Parts and Supply Store..or even a Roofing Supply Shop and follow directions.

It LOOKS like it's from the inside...maybe some fasteners or screws came thru the material from beneath...so take care of that first. Not worth the bother to take it to the dealer and the EternaBond will last forever.

Follow the directions!

I'd say you snagged a tree branch.

The problem with Eternabond in this location is that it's on a corner and will have a greater propensity to peel up.

If you really want to Eternabond it, I recommend that you unscrew the awning rail and put the edge of the Eternabond under the awning rail and then drape it up over the corner.

For a quickie repair, you can take a tube of Dicor and use it to "seal" the small tears. Then after your trip, you can take some time and rethink what the permanent repair will be.

If there are indeed exposed fasteners under there, they would likely be staples and then I would personally insist on a new roof under warranty. A brand new RV should never have any roof damage.

Looks like the membrane is bubbled in a few areas and should be cover under warranty. I would take it back or call the dealership and ask what you should do before applying any tape which may cause damage when they are looking at it to determine the cause. They may quick fix it with dicor caulking and have you come back.

Call the dealer and make sure that you don't void your warranty. Hope you still get to take your trip.

You have a trip planned,I would be at the dealer first thing Monday morning. If in fact there IS something poking up from within/under the membrane you shouldn't have to patch ANYTHING.I would inform the dealer you have a trip planned, have THEM patch it until they can get you in to replace the membrane as there are other bubbles showing in your pic.If it's not clear that it came from underneath, then it's yours to patch..JMHO...Phil

Ditto...I wouldn't touch it until the dealer inspects it.

Eternabond willnot peel up or down. When putting it down you have to be very careful to not touch anyplace early because it sticks very very good. Once down it is there to stay. The cheap imitations that are out there will peel.

Thanks All.

I took it to the dealer today, and it was indeed a branch. You can see a line of sorts where the branch met the roof which scratched its way to the holes. There is nothing poking through from underneath. I guess this one was my bad. I need to be more careful.

The good news is they gave me a free strip of eternabond and I Patched it right there and then.

Now Im wondering about the rest of the roof that was scratched. It doesnt look too bad but the surface is a little scratched.
