Well, it finally happened. I've been one of the few hold-outs telling everyone constantly how my Tow Max tires have been doing just fine. How we always check the tire pressures and how they've been doing great.

No longer. We pulled the Cyclone out this weekend for a little getaway before the racing season starts back up. Hadn't gotten ten miles from the house and "BOOM". The right front tire just blew away. No warning. No previous damage. 80 psi. 7500 miles and still looking brand new. In a nutshell, the tread just separated from the rest of the tire.

Now I have a broken fender, the side panel is severely damaged above the tire, and of course, gotta buy new tires.

We've had this camper (new) 15 months and I hate it more and more every day.

I held out with my ultra crafts for just over a year because XPS ribs costed so much. After 3 blow outs my second year I finally had enough. $300x7 for all new XPS ribs and over $1000 to repair the damages. It sucks but upgrading tires is a necessary evil.

I sure hope our military vehicles don't use Chinese tires

Sorry you had the willpops go out.

Thanks for posting. Hopefully it will help someone else who has Chinese tires to think carefully.

Lawn,
Darn they got you. I was the same thinking I could get at least 2 full years out of the Towmax STR's. Pressure checks, visual insp. at every stop etc. I had about 6k on mine on my Cyclone 2812 which tows at about 12 k as we use it. Took a 400 mile trip up the coast and spent 4 nights camping. Get ready to head home, tire inspection time, sure enough broken cord on the right front bulge about the size of your finger in the sidewall. Put the spare on no drama on the ride home.
I just don't get why real tires can't be an option.

even in 16" you need to be very selective and think about more things than the price.

I have very little choice in the G range,
614's or a Chinese.

Best post about this entire topic. I'm so tired of getting burned by cheap, penny-pinching stuff on a high end toy hauler.

Hey Heartland, Keystone, Dutchmen, and Forest River! Many buyers would pay the extra to get quality they wanted in the first place!

Lawn sorry to hear about the blow out and resulting damage. Seems it's not a matter of IF but WHEN they will finally blow.
