For Southern folks, the water could be pretty chilly by the end of Sept. Prolly be OK for you Yankees.
As for shows and things open. Yeah. MB hardly ever shuts down any more.

The only thing you will notice during the winter time in MB is that it usually gets too cold to go in the water and some of the seafood restaurants close down for the season. But September you should be fine...

Some ? I was in MB the week of Christmas 2010 and over half the restaurants I stopped at were closed. Granted this was down by Ocean Lakes and not closer to the city.

Water temps by the end of September are still near 80F. We were there through the 3rd week of September last year and really enjoyed it.

Yep and some are still open. Depends on which side of "some" you are on. Lol

In my opinion late September/early October is the best time to go to MB. The water is still warm, crowds are down, and the weather is near perfect. The only fly in the ointment is that it is still prime hurricane season so you have to watch out for those that may be meandering around in the Atlantic.
