Well lo and behold ! After replacement of a solenoid and new springs I finally took a poster's advice and sprayed and cleaned the HWH jacks with silicone penetrant and coating.. Well I can't believe how fast those jacks go up and down now. Hopefully that bugger of a front right one will not creep down while driving and set the alarm off anymore !

I use silicon spray on mine before bringing them up everytime. Since I'm full-timing now I clean and spray them liberally every month.

Ihave no problem with 3 of my jacks but one rear is, lets say sluggish at times. I have a grease zerk on the rear jacks and I just give the rear jacks a shot of grease when I develop the sluggish routine. It makes it retract with ease for a while.

I spray mine with silicon several times a year.

We have electric jacks and I spray the jacks with silicone prior to every take-up and have had no issues in over 3 years (knock on wood). We were told, most stick or get stuck because of no lubrication, they bind or something like that. Anyway, it's been working out great since we started doing this.

Some are suggesting not to use anything but ATF but this never worked for me...

On my last MH, the rear jacks leaked. According to the RV tech this is common if they are not lubricated when they are down. I does two things, one makes them go up and down easier and secondly prevents corrosion from forming on the shaft. So even if ATF doesn't ease them going up and down, it helps prevent rust.

In my case the shaft was that rough that it slowly wore the seals, thus the leak. The tech replaced the seals and since HWH would not send new shafts (they wanted to remanufacture the whole jack at their facility) he had new shafts machined, ended up being cheaper. I didn't care as the dealer was paying for it!

ATF worked for me. I've tried just about everything else and finally hit the jackpot. It is my understanding that my HWH's have ATF in them.
