Hi: We have a Bell rocket stick we use while we are in Canada to access internet while we are travelling along the highways. Would like some suggestions as to what Internet Rocket Stick type service we could purchase in the U.S.
We use a verizon 4510 hotspot, could not be happier after 21 states and 2 1/2 months. We compare verizon regularly to my hotspot on my phone w/ AT&T and there is just no comparison, 98% of the time verizon is faster and more reliable.
Verizon also offers USB options as well. (as does AT&T).
Generally, you want to avoid sprint and virgin mobile (also on the sprint network)
The best bang for the buck and the best coverage is the Verizon "flavor" of Millenicom. 20 gigs for $60.00 with no contract. However, you need to have a friend in the USA purchase it for you.
Next best is Verizon which is 10 gigs for $60.00 That can, with enough wiggling, be purchased by a Canadian. The only problem is they want big bucks for the stick if you do not sign up for a 3 year contract.
Definitely Verizon. I have the 4G Mi-Fi. They have all types of plans, pay as you go, daily, monthly and long term data plans.
I just called them to add data for Canada and they added one month at $25 for 100MB. I also added Canada calling to my cell phone for $4.99 per month. I was expecting it to be much more expensive than that.
