That's how you know it's working! You can try some fixes. Lots of threads on the subject. I used white grease I bought at NAPA, made them better, but messed up my gloves.

Mine used to. I use a light misting of WD-40 at the cam part (Reese Dual Cam) and at the head where they mount. Problem solved and have had no adverse effects. This is the final part of my hook-up procedure now.

Mine makes a noise too...Pro Series WDH with SC. I know the bars are working when I hear it.

When it quits making those sounds is when you need to start worrying about it. As long as it's moaning and groaning it's doing it's job. It works due to friction and if you don't have friction then you don't have the moaning.

Yep, all three of my bumper pull TT's and their weight distribution set-ups did the moaning thing over the years.

I have had two different hitches and both moan and groan. It is normal. For the new hitch I do not grease the hitch ball at all because it is messy and it is not needed.

If you have a Reese dual cam, putting vasaline on the cams quiet the noise. I believe this is on the Reese website.

This has been a debate on this site before and it was a toss up on who greased and who didn't.
I believe if you only camp a few weekends a year and not pulling everyday it is not needed.
I have spoken to a few different RV dealers, RV service shops as well as specialty hitch installers such as the "Hitch Man" and they all said grease is not needed. The Hitch man didn't even sell grease for the hitch ball.
