It rattles some thing awfull.I have rags wrapped to quiet it down. I have a picture but don't know how to attach it. Thanks for any know how.

Sounds like it could be a sway bar that has been disconnected on the ends from the A frames.

I agree with enblethen.
If it has an end at each side of the vehicle, then that is what it is.
The only thing that might be tough is figuring out how it was supposed to be attached.
Most GM products use a link with rubber bushing at the ends. Somebody probably took the links off and forgot to put them back one. It is about a 12$ kit.

You are right enblethen, sway bar it is. Some one has taken the rubber bushings off or they fell out. Most likely taken off and not replaced. The rear sway bar is intact.I will try to order the bushings and get it back together. Thanks guys it is all clear to me now. bsandy

Better to go with polyurethane bushings than rubber.

if you try to repair it yourself be careful. there is a lot of tension on that bar.

NO, as long as the two wheels are level with each other there is close to NO pressure on them.
A sway bar/anti-sway bar (same thing) can be lifted with your little finger if the attachment points are level. If out of level, old guy is absolutely correct.
I can/have replaced the end link bushings on my Roadmaster 1" sway bar (huge) with little effort and nothing but a couple of wrenches.

Measure bar closely and get urethane bushing as previously suggested. Look closely for two holes strapes on A frame. Need to get new bolts? they need to be high grade. Maybe 8s.
Remove some tension from front suspension may make it easier to re-install.

Contact Roadmaster for polyurethane sway bar bushings:

I believe they have a kit with bushings, bolts, etc.
