If my Dometic fridge ever gives up I think I'll install a residential unit instead. Much cheaper and I believe more reliable, although my current fridge is working very well. A friend owns an older travel trailer and he installed a residential unit for a fraction of the cost of an absorption-type unit. The job was so professional you would think the fridge came with the trailer.

IMO if you always have sufficient electricity to run the refrigerator, why would you ever want a ammonia absorbtion unit?
I went to a lot of trouble to learn ammonia absorbtion problems, and how to go about fixing them. I do NOT want to get rid of this feature, namely being able to run the refrigerator on propane.

The Atwood "Helium" is so new that I have NOT seen any in OEM products. Until they have been out for a few years, I would hesitate to be the first to field test these new refers. The standard Ammonia RV refer uses the same technology that is OVER 100 years old. Doug
