Have you had any trouble with the coffee makers that are mounted in or under a cabinet. What I mean is, moisture from the steam of making coffee. Has it damaged anyones cabinets?

My mom had her coffee maker on the counter top of her regular home, not the mounted type but it was sitting about 8 inches under a cabinet. One day when she went to do the heavy duty spring cleaning, she noticed the wood on the bottom of the cabinet was beginning to rot due to the moisture or steam of the coffee maker. I would have to assume cabinets in RVs are not made nearly as well as home cabinets.

Any input on this?

My rig came equipped with one of those under-the-cabinet coffee makers. And yes, I notice it does sweat from the steam when making coffee. I haven't noticed any damage to the cabinets above, but I'll be watching from now on. Thanks for the heads-up.

Yes. Particularly with that pressed wood stuff (MDF?) manufacturers use for cabinet shelves and bottoms. Never happened in our RV because we saw the damage it did in our home and since then we never use 'em anywhere. I suppose the casual RV'er might not see any damage for a year or two, but with daily home use, even the finish on the cabinet doors were damaged. Dunno when it started happening, but we noticed significant swelling and some finish damage after a year.

Frankjake:
Perhaps I am mistaken but you may have posted a similar thing on coffee makers in the past. Perhaps it was someone else.
Anyway, to solve any problem due to moisture or steam rising from the coffee maker, simply install a plexiglass shield, 2" to 3" wider than the coffee maker between the coffee maker and the bottom of the cabinet.

Make sure that there are no wires running through the part of the cabinet where you want to mount it. Make sure the cabinet is not hollow.

If you have a caraffe (thermos) type coffee maker you will not have the problem. I had a Black and Decker style that I used for over ten years that came installed in my Pinnacle MH. Never had a problem.
The problem now is that they no longer make an under the counter style and I can't buy one for the new coach.

The coffee maker under the cabinet makes me nervous. I'm always afraid it will overflow. I never thought about ruining the cabinets. I wished it wasn't their.
