Does anyone know of any "add-ons" (pumps, disconnects, etc) to eliminate the 55 mph/200 mile limits. On Arizona interstates, if you go 55 mph you'll get run-over.

The 2002 RAV4 owners manual reads:
--------------------------------------------------
"DINGHY TOWING (with a manual transmission)
Your vehicle can be dinghy towed (with all fours wheels on the ground) from the front behind a motorhome.

DINGHY TOWING TIPS:
Before dinghy towing, be sure to observe the following in order to reduce the damage to your vehicle (1) Put shifter in neutral, (2) Unlock the steering wheel, (3) Release the parking brake.

NOTICE - Four-wheel drive models:
Don't tow (1) faster than 55 MPH (2) more than 200 miles.

After dinghy towing or at the recommended distance limit , let the engine idle for more than 3 minutes before driving the vehicle or resuming towing"
--------------------------------------------------
I called Toyota Customer Assistance Center (1-800-331-4331) and asked the bases for the limit of 55 MPH and 200 mile. They said it was to protect the transmission.

Call Al Cohoon at Remco, extension 200, and talk to him. Before you call, you need the model number of your transmission. You can find it on the decal on the body at the bottom of the driver's door. Look for a U241E, U540E, or U???? that will be your transmission model number. Ask Al any questions you have. We have a 2001 2WD automatic with a U241E and just installed the Remco LP-2 lube pump. As for the 55 mhp, most people I talked to said it was there for a liability issue. Toyota insists it is for transmission protection. I now believe Toyota. My tranmission fluid was clean and smelled fresh at 6000 miles towing, but at 8000, it was cloudy and smelling burnt. I stopped every 200 miles, but it is hard to maintain 55 mhp. For more info, email me.

Edit Note: Remco is 1-800-228-2481.
