MN Art has it right.You can come back at up to about 15o angle and be OK, but no sharper angle than that. But if you're not fairly well centered on the pin, things don't want to go together. I think that was the cause of my little experience chronicled in my above post. One of the distractions referred to was the fact that I couldn't see directly back out the rear window when I was backing into the pin, due to people in the way in the back seat. While I was not at an angle, I was off to the left a couple of inches. I felt resistance before the latch had fully engaged and stopped then. In normal circumstances the resistance wouldn't have been felt until I was all the way into the receiver,at which time the latch would have triggered. All I had needed to do was look at the locking lever and I could have seen it wasn't engaged, but I didn't,since I meant to look when I came back. Meant to and should have can have two different results.
