I would like to know if anyone else with this engine has had problems with the spark plug's blowing out of the cylinder heads. I've had to replace both heads on mine. I would like to know if this has been a probatum in the past few years on this engine. I would like to go after Ford for some of the cost of having to replace the second head. Ford did pay for the first one, only because it was still under warranty. Please E-mail me at jamesjimal@aol.com.
I have a 2000 F250 w/ the V10 and I have not had any problems myself and don't seem to recall seeing anything in these forums about problems with the V10 motorhomes. However, this apparently is not as uncommon as it should be - I have read about it in the past in various other places on the Internet. Also, the problem apparently is not entirely restricted to the V10 - other people have had similar issues with all of Ford's newer Triton engines.
I would check some other Ford enthusiast sites and see what they have on the topic. Due to the lack of conversation in these forums about it, I would think it isn't that big of an issue.

What year is your RV? I have a 99 with the V10 and haven't had any problems....it has been a pretty good engine...a little weak (275 horse) but it gets me there.

I have a 1997 van with the V-10 with 170,000 miles on it. Never had a sparkplug problem, pulls strong and uses no oil at all. All I have had to do is change the plugs one time and replace a bad #5 sparkplug ignition coil.

Blowing spark plugs was apparently a problem with some of the early V-10s 'cause the threaded spark plug portion wasn't as deep as on the newer V-10s. I'm sure a little more research on the 'net will get you the details.

It did happen with the earlier verions, but was very rare. For it to happen twice on one motor, I would suspect that sombody did not torque the plugs correctly, either at the dealer or at the factory. It happens rare enough that I've heard others had the repairs covered by Ford even after the warranty expired.
FYI - My V10 has 111,000 as of last night. Only things done to it is change filters/fluids, new battery (I'm hoping they changed both, but the 2nd is hard to check) new brakes, and the fuel tank replaced under recall.
