I'm leaving tomorrow night for Lake Erie. Coming back, I'm crossing into Canada at Fort Erie headed for Lundy's. Question: Toll on the bridge, US side or Canada side, who gets the money? Both?
We just stayed in Canada for a week last month. I also did tons of research and everyone is right, stay in Canada. Much more to see and do. We stayed at the Lundy's Lane KOA. We liked it compared to other campgrounds in the area it was by far the best. We are used to very wooded large sites, and this was a little smaller, but still nice. The grounds are clean and there is an indoor and outdoor pool which we loved. Also, the shuttle bus stops right in front of the campground so we never drove anywhere! We went to the falls almost every day on the shuttle. We had a great vacation and would recommend it. We drove through the American side, wasn't very impressed. Dosen't look like there is much to do. In fact we spoke to a couple when we were dining at the Skylon Tower who were staying on the American side who said they wished they had stayed on the Canadian side. Not to mention a much better view of the falls. Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.
Lyne Leathers: You definitely want the Canadian side: You come
from Maine on route I90 west. In the Buffalo area, you take route I190, and follow 'bridge to canada' signs. When you have gone through Canadian customs, follow signs for money exchange and change
allyour US money into Canadian. Much easier to operate on 1 currency
instead of 2.
From the bridge and changing money take the QEW Toronto,(Queen
Elizibeth Way), and go northward about 20 miles to the Niagara area and exit on to Ontario route 20, called Lundy's Lane. At Lundy's Lane, you turn right, and there will be several miles of 'tourist'
things, restaurants etc. And you will find KOA Campground (pricey)
a d next to it Scott's, and several other camps. We usually go to
Scott's. It usually is
t one-half what KOA is. Scott's is quieter and we prefer it.
At this block, you are 3 miles from the falls. Leave your truck
at the camp and take the shuttle direct to the falls.

We recently spent a week in Niagara Falls Ontario and had a great time. We stayed at the Niagara Falls KOA Ontario on Lundys Lane. Nice campground, indoor pool, super clean facilities. If the ladies want ot do some serious shopping you must take the side trip to Niagara on the Lake. It is a 15 to 20 miles north of the falls. Quaint little town with lots af shops and places to eat.
Canadian side is the only place worth hanging out. The US side was horrible when I was there a couple of years ago for eight days. Stayed on the US side and really wish I had not.
