For the below trailer. What electrical adapters do I need to purchase to be prepared for any possible campsite hookup. Also what type of extension cord should I buy?? and how many Amps?? Hope to get the trailer Wednesday. Thanks Schepp.

Heavy duty 30amp 25ft extension cord. Extension cord
A 30amp female to 15amp male dogbone adaptor. for those campground that do not have 30amp hookups. adaptor (choose the one you want)
A 50amp male to 30amp female dogbone adaptor - for those few campgrounds that have only 50amp hookups. Adaptor (choose the one you want)
A outlet tester similar to the one shown here. Outlet tester
We also carry a 50ft standard orange extension cord for use around the trailer.
Your trailer most likely has a 30amp power cord so the above adaptors should be all you will need. Your dealer probably has them in stock. There are also some that are a little cheaper than the dogbone type.

Ok....since I'm still trying to make sure I understand all of this, here is what I'm still sorta confused about.
I have a 30amp trailer, and I pull into a 50amp spot. Will that hookup have a 50amp and a 30amp hookup? If only has a 50amp hook up, I'll need a 50 to 30 connector? And the same if the place only has a 15amp hookup, I'll need a 15 to 30 connector?
Barney has a good list, but I'll add an item, and a little different recommnedation on common extension cords.
A 30 amp male to 15 amp female - this allows plugging the tester directly into the 30 amp campground receptacle to check it's wiring. It will also work with the 50 amp male to 30 amp female adapter to check that wiring.
I carry a common 16 gauge 25 foot cord - use for patio lights, tools, etc. It's a bit less to handle than the 50 foot one that Barney uses.
I also have some places I go - family members homes and some others - where I use either a 50 foot or a 100 foot 12 gauge extension cord. So I have one of them in the MH.
You'll have to choose the common extension cords to fit your needs, but at least they are not too expensive.
And, you can often get a lot of this at WalMart - they usually have an RV section near automotive.

You are absolutely correct in your understanding. However, we've been trailer camping for over 15 years and have never required a 50 -> 30 amp adaptor. I guess that that situation could come up, but we've never encountered it. We do carry a 30 -> 20 amp adaptor and have used it many, many times.

It will eventually happen. It happened to us last year. Fortunately the campground had several "loaner" 50 --> 30 adapters.

We bought our first travel trailer yesterday (2002 Pioneer), and we can't wait to go pick it up tomorrow!! We have been reviewing the owner's manual to learn about everything but we can't figure this one out. The power cord in the manual appears to be a round large 3 prong type. We will be using the camper at some friend's house and are trying to figure out if there is some type of adapter we need to get that will switch the camper power line over to a standard house hold type of extension cord or outlet.
We would appreciate any help anyone can offer-- as we are both new to this! My husband has only camped in tents, and I have only camped in a friend's pop-up (which --by the way-- I never set up either). So-- we may be posting on these forums frequnetly for advice from the "pros".
