Some time ago I asked the 'forum' for information on cleaning mildew from the white vinyl window trim on my 5th. wheel. I received several suggestions on what to use. Some I had already tried and others did not do the job. I winter in Florida and the 5th. is left on my lot during the summer. This year I have removed the trim and soaked it in full strength Clorox. The Clorox killed the mildew and the trim is once again white. The Clorox also removed the pink colored tint from the vinyl. Having finally accomplished this, I am now wondering if there is anything I can do to avoid a recurrence. As we all know, it is very humid here in the summer and mildew thrives. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hire some one to stop by and carefully apply TSP to the

Clorox should have left some anit-fungus chemicals in the pores of the plastic. I would suspect you will have a lot less fungus buildup this year. Let us know if that works out to be true.

hwm - I was thinking the same thing regarding the Clorox. I may dampen the trim again with it prior to leaving here. Thanks.

All of the above are good ideas. I would also add some protective coating to the trim, something like Protect All. I get the best long-term results from a carnuba paste wax!

I finally got around to writing up my method for effectively cleaning white vinyl moldings.

I have uploaded it to http://www.geocities.com/blueskywhiteclouds/molding.html.
