Anyone know of anywhere VERY nice to stay in or near Gatlinburg? We currently have reservation for Outdoors of America Resort there but it has been over 15 years since I have been there. Any other suggestions that may be better??? Thanks.

The Yogi Bear campground 15 miles out of town is very nice. There is a mountain stream on almost every sight. Owners are very nice also.

We have stayed and will be staying again in Oct. at Crazyhorse Campground north of Gatlinburg on Hwy 321. http://www.crazyhorsecampground.com/campsites.html
Lots of activities for the kids.

Yes, definitely CrazyHorse campground. If you go there, make sure you try and get a stream site, they're the nicest. It's a well wooded and clean campground, close to the outdoor resorts.

There is a well stocked fishing pond, water slide that's really nice. My kids loved it. If you don't want to pay the fee for that, there's also a nice pool.

I'd recommend this place anytime.

jonas,

We were at Crazy Horse 2 weeks ago, and the water slide is now included in your site fee - no extra charges for anyone!

We did not care for the Yogi Bear. While the owners WERE very nice, the sites are horribly small and you have to contort your rig to back them in. Barely room if people have awnings and slides. The roaring brook was very nice, VERY loud, the CG is very small and is sort of like a little island surrounded buy the brook. Very high price, nearly $50 for 2 parents 3 kids who were basically looking for a place to sleep while passing thru. Did not have the typical amenities that most Yogi Bears do. I think you can do better....

Stay in the Elkmont campground inside Great Smokey Mountain National Park. No utilities, just good sized, shaded campsites along the West Prong of the Little River and it's about 10 to 12 degrees cooler there than outside the park. Just a short drive from there is Gatlinburg.
