I've been contacted by an Aliner owner in NC who appears interested in have an owner's get-together. I don't mind being the point-of-contact for this. Is there anyone who would like to help, or has done domething like it in the past who could provide guidance? What time of year is best? Should we have it near the factory or somewhere else? What are your ideas? Please let me know via this website or email me direct at gadillon@earthlink.net. If it's ever going to happen someone (read me) needs to get moving. Thanks.

I learned a great lesson from my wife regarding planning events. Should you accept the "leadership" of this rally, you just pick a date, place, etc. and let those interested make their plans mesh. It's easier and gets things rolling. Hope to be there.

Thanks for the reply George. However, ideas are still welcome. I want this to be "our" rally vs "my" rally.

Ginny,
My wife Debby and I are interested in the rally and in the interest Mr. Tait mentioned to you,,,namely sharing ideas on the use and set up of our Aliners. I would be glad to help out. I would suggest:
1. Continue to work very closely with the factory contact and to hold it near there if they are interested in having us in their neighborhood. Frankly, this may start something in the area of customer relations for Aliner if they knew the owners were interested in dialoging or conversing with them at the factory...touring etc.
2. I would suggest a two day and two night gathering tops. I suppose for some the best time would be on a weekend. For me personally, during the week would be fine. I am open. Late April or early May is one window of time that occurs to me.... Late May is graduation and Memorial Day conflicts. Early June begins another window called summer. I think if we suggest March or Early April we may find some people not wanting to winter camp that much. Just my initial thoughts.
3. Arrive nite #1, (having chosen a camp ground and arranged a gathering point) check in. First morning meet together, tour the plant and schmooze with the company folks and new products.... Perhaps have a potluck meal back at the camp ground in a common room or building? Day two more informal visiting...perhaps some will have to leave.... nite two???? Leave next day. Depending on turnout and interst make some plans at the potluck about another gathering, and needs that could be met by such a group in an ongoing way. Invite some plant reps to eat with us?
That's what I humbly submit at this point. Let's talk calendar. I know I cannot go Holy Week, nor can I go the last weekend of April.

Ginny,
Another thought. Will your plant contact give us names and addresses of Aliner owners so that they may know of such a gathering? Or perhaps they would do a mailing for us?

Peter,
You have some great ideas. Time of the week is not an issue with me as I'm in the Air Force and can schedule leave any time with the concurrence of my supervisor. Time of year is a concern if we gather near the factory. I looked it up on the map and Mammoth is SE of Pittsburg in Westmoreland County. I'm not so concerned about cold temperatures as I am about spring snow events. I think early May is a good time. I like your suggested events too. I emailed Betsy Griffin at Aliner about getting a listing of customers, and if that's not possible, about sending fliers to the dealers and asking them to notify their customers. I also asked if the company wanted to be officially involved. I think visits with company reps and a tour of the factory are excellent ideas. I asked for the names of the campgrounds nearby so I can check them out. I wouldn't mind going up there on a weekend as it's only about a 3.5 hr drive from where I live (a bit longer if towing the trailer). Please keep the ideas coming. For eveyone, what do you think of these ideas? What time of year and days of the week do you prefer? Please let me know via this forum or you can email me directly at gadillon@earthlink.net. Thanks.

Ginny,
Ted in Raleigh. Spring is a really good idea. I do hope that Aliner is interested in taking part. I do not see nearly enough of the units as I travel. The one I have seems to be an attraction everywhere I go.

ginny,
I lean toward early June now that I have thought about it. I think generally, those who have kids and others think about traveling during the summer. Let us know when you hear back from the company. Thanks a million.

Peter,
Received a short email earlier this week from Betsy at Aliner. She has been put in charge at her end and will be sending a list of campgrounds soon. When I receive, I'll drive up there to look them over and report back here. So, far the only owner interest I've received is on this site and via a couple of emails from folks who post on this site. I think it's going to taking sending out fliers to get more owners in the know and generate more interest. I think the first week in June is a good timeframe. So far, with only the 4 or 5 of us who expressed interest, booking space in a campground wouldn't be a problem. But if the numbers grow appreciably, it could become a nightmare. I'll be working later with Betsy to work out visits and talks with company reps. That's it so far.
