All,

Betsy at Aliner sent me a list of five campgrounds in the area of the factory. I plan to call each this week and arrange to visit them this weekend or next. I'll look at the entire facility and check into group camping rates. I'll report back with my findings and we'll go from there. Things are progressing.
Regards,
Ginny

All
I'm leaving tomorrow for Pennsylvania to visit Aliner and check out a large campground. According to the Trailer Life directory the campground has 180 sites with full hookups. I'll report what I find when I get back on Sunday afternoon. One of the items I'll check is a group discount at the campground. I'll also look at amenities for families with kids. I called the campground today and they do accept pets. For those who wish to check it out the name is Laurel Highlands Campland in Donegal PA. Talk to you Sunday.

Hello All Owners
Had a great trip to PA. Weather was cold, windy, and raining. My LXE performed well; the dog and I stayed fairly comfortable in spite of the weather. Checked into the Laurel Highlands Campland about 1100. They do not accept credit cards. They are used to large groups and have the facilities to accomodate them. All sites are level gravel with full hookups available. Base rate (6 people/site) is $25. Groups of 10 or more get 10% discount. A/C and cable tv is extra ($2 and $1.50 respectively). Campground has indoor and outdoor swimming pools, fishing pond, miniature golf, tennis court, basketball court and playground. They have a large recreation hall with snack bar, game room, pizza shop and small camping supply shop. They offer shuffleboard, volleyball and horsehoe pits. They have a lighted pavillion where we can hold our potluck. Was told by the manager we need to reserve the sites by end of January. I selected 1-3 June (Friday-Sunday) as the dates for our rally. After the talks with the campground manager went to Aliner. Met the Tait brothers and their employees (was introduced to each indivually. Dave Tait, Sales Manager, gave me a tour of the plant (same one the group will get) and I saw each stage of production. Dave said a plant tour on Saturday afternoon (2 June) was fine and they would supply eats. I told them we would have a potluck and invite them. Dave also said Aliner would pay the deposit on a group of campsites (to hold them for us--they would get their deposit back after we check in), we only needed to tell them how many we wanted (20? 30? more?). I met with Betsy Griffin, Aliner rep for the rally, and we discussed making up a flier. She will mail it to all the customers on file. I can add the details of the rally to this site and she would put them on the Aliner website. So, folks, things are moving right along. There are lots of things to do at the campground and in the local area (I'll list some of those in a later message) and the Taits and their employees are quite excited about our visit and are looking forward to seeing and talking with us. I got a look at some new models in the works, which I believe will debut at the industry show in Louisville KY. It was an exiting and satisfactory trip. I'm sure I've left something out but will send more messages as I remember. Please don't hesitate to post your questions here or email me directly at gadillon@earthlink.net.

Ginny

All

Finally got the rally flier done. However, can't figure out how to email it to Aliner so they can send out to the owners. If anyone has any expertise in this area, please email me. I'll be out of town til Wednesday, 6 December.

Is the flyer in a form you could attach it to an email? Save it in RTF format and attach it. Surely they can take it and lay it out with your instructions (trifold, one sided etc.). What other help do you need in preparation? Thanks so much for making the big trip and breaking the ice. Call on us as you see things that need to be done.

All,
Sent the flier for the rally to Betsy at Aliner a couple of weeks ago. Haven't heard anything from her. Essentially, the flier contained the dates (1-3 June 2001), the location (Laurel Highlands Campland in Donegal, PA) and that a tour of the Aliner plant was scheduled. How about a potluck dinner on 1 June, the tour on the 2nd (they offered eats too) and the rest of the time to get to know each other or visit attractions in the area? I'm heading out of town on Thursday, 21 Dec for a couple of weeks. If the folks at Aliner don't reserve some sites at the campground we'll need to do so by end of January at the latest or we may be sol and have people scattered between campgrounds. I'll call Betsy before I leave town and see what's happening. Stay warm and dry. P.S. You may want to check out www.popuptimes.com for some interesting messages. Not much on Aliners but doesn't mean we can't start a thread.

Regards,
Ginny

Thanks Ginny for all your work. Your plans so far sound just fine. I am planning on being there and hope others will be as well.

Hi All,
Looking forward to the event. Will be doing a bit of traveling in the month of June. Going up and down the East Coast.
Just finished winterizing. Note: Before you unscrew the Anode rod for the hot water container, make sure the water is normal temperture, and use the pressure relief valve.
Overall the winter season will be a short one as I am getting it back in use by March.
Anyone have other points for winterizing?

Hi Ginny,
I have received a reply from mj at Aliner. He/She mentions Betsy is no longer employed there, but will be doing her work with the rally. Also Aliner welcomes direct e-mail. They gave me a quick response. Happy New Year! and Thanks for putting this together.

Hello Everyone,
Back from vacation and working again on the rally. Working with a new person at Aliner, MJ, and unfortunately Betsy didn't share any info with anyone. Talked to MJ on the phone today and she will discuss details with Dave Tait and get back to me soon. So, the only firm detail is the timeframe, 1-3 June 2001. Recommend the Laurel Highlands Campland at Donegal PA. A little expensive $26/day, but there is a discount for groups 10 and greater. However, if individuals want to make their own arrangements, that's OK but, Laurel has flat sites with a pavilion and club house to gather in. I'll post all the details here as soon as they are finalized. The flier I made up and sent to Betsy has not been found. There may not be enough time to do another and contact all the owners. So spread the word to all your Aliner owner friends and dealers (maybe they will help spread the word).
Well that's all for now. Keep warm and dry.
Regards,
Ginny
