My husband and I are interested in joining the Rally! It would be great to meet other Aliner owners. We just bought ours in October, so we're still learning how everything works. This is such a change from tent camping!

By the way, we found a fun website that I thought some of you may not have seen yet. Check out www.bhoffcomp.com/alaska which is Bob Hoffmann's website entitled An Alaskan Adventure (A first camping trip...solo in an Aliner). We found it to be so interesting and informative about traveling cross country in an Aliner.

Thanks Linda for the plug.. I have contacted Aliner via email and asked to be included in the spring meeting. It will be nice to talk to others that are experienced with Aliner. The date seems to correspond close to the next trip I am planning, so may be a first stop over on our way to Newfoundland. That is my current thought anyway. June/July should be about right for the trip.

All,
Wow! This idea of a rally is really gathering steam. I've had contact with 15 interested owners either thru this site or direct emails to me. I've not heard from MJ yet on some of the details so I will call her tomorrow. We need to get campsites reserved ASAP at Laurel Highlands so we can be kept together and to ensure as much as possible we don't have folks scattered at different campgrounds (unless they choose to do that). So, in the interest of solidifying at least this detail, please email me directly if you will be attending the rally so MJ and I can ensure there will be a space for you. Please do this not later than this Sunday, 14 January. Aliner may be willing to pay the deposits to hold the sites for us. But we need definite numbers. Please email me at gadillon@earthlink.net. I'll also send an email to all those on my list. Worse case: Aliner won't /can't pay the deposit; I'll call the campground and get spaces for all interested parties and then I'll notify you so you can send in the deposit. Please don't hesitate to email me with any questions regarding the campground or you can call them directly at (724) 593-6325. Note: there is a discount for groups of 10 or more. Happy camping.

Please let me know if you have or haven't received a personal email regarding the rally. I tried sending an multiple address message out and I don't know if it worked. If you've contacted me directly via email you should receive a message. If you've only expressed interest in the rally on this web site then you won't be an addressee on the personal email. Please let me hear from you, one way or the other by this Sunday 14 Jan 01. Thanks.

All,
Couple of things to report today. First, talked to MJ at aliner today and Mr. Mark Tait, one of Aliner's owners is still agreeable to putting a deposit down on sites at campground to hold them, but needs to get concurrence from the company president (brother Mark). I know it's real early in the year to make a decision about going to the rally in June, but if we don't reserve the sites they won't be available. This park does a lot of group events and they book up early. I've asked MJ to reserve 20 sites for the rally. I hope we have more but don't want to overcommit. You can still decide to come after 14 Jan but you may not be at Laurel Highlands and if you are you may not be camped near the group. Second, there is a website for the campground and the URL is www.lhcampland.com. The layout of the campround is there and is the same as their brochure. The main campround oval is in a flat meadow. The rest, including the club house are at higher elevations (it's a steep walk). hope to see you all there.

Good evening. Have some news: Dave Tait, one of the owners of Aliner will be camping with us 1-3 June at the Laurel Highlands Campland. He will conduct the tour of the plant on Saturday, either late morning or early afternoon (he is flexible). He will also join us for the potluck Friday night and all other activities we decide to do. He suggested we might want to go down to Ohiopyle and "do" the white water. He also said the company would pay the deposits on 20 sites to hold them for the group. We haven't worked out details on reimbursing them. So far, I heard from 10 owners who definitely will be there. Counting me and Dave that uses 12 of the 20 reserved sites. Remember, I need to know by Sunday night, 9pm EST, 14 January, if possible, those who are definitely going to be there. However, we will hold the sites until about a month prior to the rally. At that time any undesignated sites will be released and the deposit(s) returned. I also talked to Jerry Smith, one of the managers of the campground. He will give me a block of campsites on Monday, 15 January and he wants me to assign names to sites. So, if you and Aliner owner friends will be attending and want to camp next to each other, please let me know. After I make the assignments, I'll fax the details back to Jerry. Regarding the Friday night potluck, I plan to provide hotdogs and hamburgers and I would like the other owners to supply chips, salads and desserts. Please email me at gadillon@earthlink.net if you agree to this and also let me know what you plan to provide so I can deconflict the choices (we wouldn't want everyone to bring salads). We should be camped near the pavilion and I'll see if we can reserve it both Friday and Saturday nights. It will make a great gathering place. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments. Happy camping.

Good afternoon All,
I have received the campsite numbers from Laurel Highlands Campland (145-154 and 162-171) and have assigned them to owners today. Each owner who has emailed me that they will attend should receive a personal email listing their campsite assignment. The cost for the site is $25/night with an additional 10% off if at least 10 owners show up. Check-in is 3pm Friday, 1 June, and check-out is 2pm Sunday, 3 June. There is some slack in the check-in and check-out times. We will be near the bathrooms and the pavilion. I have booked the pavilion for all three days. Our group is listed under Aliner at the campground. If any owner wants to attend and has not yet contacted me, please do so as soon as you are sure you will attend. I've reserved 20 sites and have already assigned 13 of them. It may be possible to add to the original 20 sites but it may not be possible to get them with the original group the farther into the year we go. So, please email me at gadillon@earthlink.net if you would like to be assigned a campsite. Also, I plan to make up name tags for each person listing first name (or nickname), last name, city and state and year you bought your Aliner. So, please email me with how you want your name tag to look. Keep checking this website periodically for updates and reminders.

I have an Aliner spare tire ( Carlisle st 175/80D13 Sure Trail ST) that has never been used and can not be returned. Does anybody want it for free? I can bring it to the rally in June.

Hi Peter Vial!,
I saw an Aliner with a rotted out floor twice. I was in the market to buy an Aliner at the time and didn't buy it. They were at dealerships in Philadelphia, and Southern, Ohio. The dealership in Philadelphia admitted there was a problem before I noticed it and bought it, actually. Ohio wasn't as honest. After researching this problem, I learned it is really important to look everywhere when buying one because it makes the RV worth very little and is almost impossible to totally correct. One of the main ways this happens is from the moisture on the underside of the trailer rotting out the only composite wood. The 2000 Aliners and on are now undercoated, and you can contact Scott at the Factory and coat it yourself for about $20 from high quality items you find at the auto parts store.
