We also stayed at Cherry Hill. We used the bus to subway route and it worked out fine. Our first time on a subway and surprised we are not still going around in circles. It was really easy to use once we got the hang of it. We liked the back-in sites best. They seemed to be a little bigger. Karen

Cherry Hill has the metro bus line start in the park entrance and take that to the Metro. I have been there several times and will go again. Wash DC is a great place to visit because most of the attractions are free. Our tax dollars at work.

Check out these regional parks if you don't mind basic and wooded:

http://www.nvrpa.org/pohickcamp.html

from this webpage go back to the homepage and look for Bull Run Campground. It is closer to a Metro stop off I 66. $19.50 a night, elec. only with dump and water station.
