(Ventura, Calif.) — The 2006 National Telly Awards were announced and RVtoday received three Telly Awards for excellence in television production including a first-ever Silver Telly. The Silver Telly is the highest honor awarded in the competition and was given for the program featuring Yosemite National Park. Two other RVtoday episodes won a Bronze Telly for shows featuring San Francisco and Hollywood. The Telly Awards annually showcase the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television networks, cable operators and corporate video departments in the world. The RVtoday programs won in the “TV information show” category.
RVtoday was up against some tough competition including shows and productions from HBO, Paramount, Harpo Productions, ESPN, The Travel Channel, E! Networks, Walt Disney Studios and Lucas Films, among many others. RVtoday has now won 13 Telly Awards during the past four years making the show one of the most consistently recognized cable TV programs in the competition.
”The award of the Silver Telly is particularly significant this year,” said Stew Oleson, host and producer of RVtoday. ”This is the highest honor in the Telly Awards, and is a tribute to the standards we set in the field and in the editing room when we are putting the show together.
“I work with one of the best shooters in the business so it’s always a pleasure to sit down and edit the wonderful video that Boze gets on the road,” said Oleson. Stew and RVtoday videographer Chris “Boze” Anguay are part of the production team that creates the magazine-style TV show that features destinations, RV road tests, how-to segments, RV tips and product reviews. The show is produced in-house at the Affinity Group, Inc. (AGI) main office in Ventura, California, and is now in its sixth year of production. Stew’s co-host is Tracy Lehr.
This has been a good year for RVtoday. In addition to the Telly Awards, the program recently hit an all-time high Nielsen rating of .39 and 330,000 viewers for the weekend airing. Approximately 500,000 viewers each week now see the program on The Outdoor Life Network at 2p.m. Eastern time Monday through Friday, and 1:30p.m. Eastern time on Sunday.
