RE: Odd CG map

That's odd. When I looked there a week ago, the Salton Sea New Camp map looked OK. It sure doesn't now!The maps have been fine for years. These must be recent "upgrades", complete with grammatical errors too. People actually get paid to be this incompetent.

RE: Odd CG map

Looks like they are using the same map designer as Recreation.gov.!Yes, apparently they are. Devil's Canyon CG in Utah has the reservable numbered sites on the opposite side of the road from where they really are. I've mentioned this to Rec gov and the CG host a couple times over a period of two years, and nothing has changed. If you want the correct sites you have to dig up a picture of the sites from the campground reader board. I don't get it. Nobody cares these maps are totally wrong?

Odd CG map

Mecca beach State of CA has 'upgraded' their Salton Sea campground maps. Take a peek at the above url of Mecca Beach and see if it looks odd to you. On my computer the campsites don't follow the road. I've tried 2 different browsers, same result.

RE: Gas Engine - Fill It Up

In 30+ years of towing I've never felt that it was more than a slight inconvenience filling up while hitched. You're fortunate. I'm 60+' long, and many stations are not built to easily accommodate that.

If this is in Montana, campsitephotos has some pics.

RE: Gas Engine - Fill It Up

Try to get your fuel while unhitched, like while camping. 11am at a Flying J isn't a great idea. Don't look for the cheapest gas.

RE: Best exterior tape

I've used Dicor to hold solar wiring. Of course it takes awhile to set so you'd have to support those wires somehow. Come to think of it, how about Eternabond tape? That stuff should hold anything.

RE: Towing With Water Pump Switched On. Burn Up Pump??

I don't leave it on....There are lots of risks associated with camping. This is one that's just too easy to avoid.I hear that. I don't hook up to city water either as I cannot easily turn that off at will. And my coach being old has a few pesky leaks that city water pressure will breach (even with a reducer), but not pump and tank. When my coach was newer, I could tow with the pump on (actually by mistake) and not have a problem. But now, when I get to the campsite, and turn on the pump, it will run but not pressure up until I flush the toilet or run the shower. I assume road vibration is causing water in those areas to leak out. To where I have no idea.

RE: Champion Generator

but you can count me as one of them.Of course, I'm not saying 'nobody' does, it just seems quite rare compared to the number of people on here who want a generator to run their air. And it does take a lot of expensive gas, it's messy, and a bit of work. Then again, perhaps I only run into people with generators that aren't capable of running air. The most generator use I see is fixing dinner and watching TV! :)

RE: Champion Generator

Remote control electric starter and enough power to run our AC unit. A bit off topic, but in all my 15 years of boondocking I can count on less than one hand the number of RVers running air from a portable generator, even in 90+ weather.

RE: Traveling with a cat - in a trailer

Figure it out for your individual situation and don't preach to everyone that your way is the only way it's done.. ha, ha..That always happens in these posts.

RE: Traveling with a cat - in a trailer

My 11 yo female Tabby rides very comfortably in the closet of my 5er bedroom. Never makes a sound, just sleeps. Litter box and water there. It's just 'wake me when we get there.' Sure beats listening to her howl in the truck in a cage. Works like a charm for us.
