RE: Towing a 2 wheel drive automatic transmission

Some Ford and GM 2WD cars can be towed 4 down (same 6 speed transmission). What kind of vehicle do you have?

RE: Ram TRX vs Cybertruck

Even Tesla knows which truck to compare it too! It's marketing genius. Why would Tesla want to compare themselves to the better manufactures when they have an opportunity to compare their future truck to the worst manufacture, and get a good laugh at the same time. I bet senior leadership at FCA is pissed off because they know that it's also a subtle insult and everyone at Tesla, Ford and GM is laughing at Ram. LOL Even trying to be funny, that doesn’t make sense!

RE: Traveling around Lake Michigan

2nd on Door County. We stay there each year for two weeks (non pandemic years) and stay at Egg Harbor Campground which has sites for any size rig and full hookups. I will "3rd" this. We are there 3 times a season. Egg Harbor CG is excellent, Mike and Debbie are great hosts. Door County is also sometimes called "Little Cape Cod", is more what Cape Cod was years ago. July and August however are really busy months in Door County, so be prepared for heavy traffic in the small towns, and long waits at restaurants and attractions. If you are old you will love Door County! As far as this trip is concerned, I think there are plenty of other places worth seeing that it could be skipped for now! Maybe go another time later in the year when the leaves change!

RE: Traveling around Lake Michigan

Take it a step further and do the Apostle Islands National Lake Shore on Lake Superior (WI). Then you to Pictures Rocks, then to Mackinac Island (this is a day trip by bike and ferry). Then down along Lake Michigan......Sleeping Bear Dunes, Silver Lake Sand Dunes (either you can drive on the dunes or take one of the tours). And then down to Holland MI.

RE: Fish bowl cooling class A

Even in 90 degree temps my roof air will keep the living area cool. the dash air is adequate. run the roof AC`s and the dash air on recirculate and you should be good. have you had the dash AC inspected and possibly recharged?

RE: Trailer Tongue Coupler Wear?

I towed 3 different TT`s over 17 years with tongue weights ranging from 600lbs to 1300lbs. always greased and never any sign of wear. that ball is done. replace it and check the inside of the coupler for wear. maybe run some coarse sandpaper to clean it up then some fine. then use a bit of grease to coat the new ball. If you are using a WD hitch, make sure to lube the pivot points in the hitch head where the bars mount.

RE: Too hot

The Black Hills are in the mountains, so it will be cooler than down by Hot Springs. the Badlands are a bit lower in elevation so it can get hot during the day and cold at night. Ive been there in July and August. Never had an issue with heat, that's not to say a heatwave wont hit when you plan to go!

RE: New Ford Pickup weighs payload and tongue weight

If it disables the truck until the load is lightened then by all means a good idea.

RE: Dually tire replacement upcharge

You try throwing around dually wheels and see if you don't think its worth spending a few more $$$$! People Spend $60-$90k on a truck and then get cheap when it comes to maintenance! $20 per tire is excessive, but a dually should and does cost more to do a rotate. if shops aren't charging a bit more then they aren't a very good shop as it shows they don't pay attention.

RE: Would you switch from Class A to Travel Trailer

As I continue to pounder on this decision, I want to thank everyone for this great feedback. In my research I have found that while a Class A may be more expensive and difficult to maintain, it could make a big difference when traveling with dogs. I think this matters more than I thought. We continue to sleep on this decision :-) MC A class A is not any harder or more expensive to maintain than a trailer and TV. the only difference is you have both systems (RV and TV) in one unit. which in the end is cheaper because you can have a fuel efficient vehicle for everyday use. and if you have one that is flat towable its even better!

RE: Can I use this bearing?

I always put some in that cavity. Air won’t hurt it and will aid in living if need be.

RE: Operating BlueOx Tru Center

I found I neeeded to slightly "over correct" to get the blang thing to center properly. Also they tell you DO NOT PRESS BUTTON WHILE IN MOTION... huh? if you can't adjust it in motion then what's the point? Exactly! I think that`s lawyer speak. I dont see how you could adjust for varying conditions if you had to keep pulling over to reset it.
