Greetings RV friends. From a rather long hiatus I have returned to the forum with the following questions, re AC and gen sets. It seems I had researched this before with answers, but a search brings back none of my old posts on this topic.

I want to put the polar cub 9201 on my AF 990 and run it with the Honda 2000W gen. I'm sure I'd figured this before to work together, but I go to order the ac unit at my local RV World and they're telling me no way it will work. Apparently this unit needs 2500W minimum to start.

Are there any folks here using this pair and find its working? Apparently this 9201 is the high efficiency unit that has replaced the 9200 BTU unit and this maybe where my problem lies. I'm trying to stay with a lower BTU unit so I can run it on a small generator that will fit in my compartment.

My apologies if this has been discussed at length before.

TIA

I have a Polar Cub 9000 in my Snowreiver 10.8. My Honda 2000 runs it fine up to 9000ft (2743m).

this will definitely work. east end campers uses this combo a lot.

Just remember- a refrigerator on automatic will use electricity(120volt) as first option. so make sure on propane. secondly the aformentioned battery charger. might have to switch charger function off.

Good question. I would like to hear from someone who has that particular model number (9201 not 9200) and is running it on an EU2000i.

There are two current 9201 models listed on the manufacturers web site--Model "B" and "D" and both are rated 9200 btu cooling. Amp and watt slightly different.

I have a 9201D and I have run it up to 7000 feet with the Honda 2000 without any modifications. Have not needed it for higher elevations, yet.

Maybe this will help

Thank you all for your input. The yes crowd prevails, at least on the older model 9200, however with the 9201 a successful match-up remains to be seen. I have ordered the unit anyway and will take a chance to see if the Honda 2000W gen will be man enough. I will report my findings soon as I know, prob within a week. Of course I welcome any additional input from you all as it comes.

I have a 9201B which is is 9200 BTU, the 9201A is only 8300 BTU. The 9201 B runs just fine off my Honda 2000. I have also put a switch in to stop charging via my converter if I wish. I had to do this to allow my microwave to run off the Honda. I do nto seems to need to do it with the A/C.

Here are the spec sheets for both:

9201-B

9201-A

Noted, and thanks. With that I have ordered the unit and will hope for the best, not sure which unit I will be getting, of the two you mentioned.
