No one likes having just one vaganza, so I am offering a whole slew of them for your armchair traveling pleasure. [emoticon]

Capitol Reef has long been one of my most favorite Parks, being incredibly scenic, easy to get to, and relatively undercrowded as far as Parks go. The campground is first rate (sorry, no hookups), the Park staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and there is much variety in hiking trails, from very easy to moderately difficult.

I spent a week there this spring collecting trails for the blog, and I present the links here for anyone who wants to visit this awesome natural wonder.

An Introduction

Wayne Wonderland`AKA Capitol Reef National Park

Easiest Trail*

Pioneer Register and the Tanks

*There is one other very easy hike here called Grand Wash, but as it is located right off the highway it is usually busier than I like my outdoor experiences to be. Still, for those with little time or conditioning issues, this is a great choice.

Easier Trails

Fremont River Trail

Hickman Bridge

Chimney Rock

Scenic Trails That Connect With Other Trails (Moderately Easy)

Cohab Canyon

Frying Pan Trail

Moderately Hard Trails

Cassidy Arch

The Golden Throne

The Rim Overlook

Whoops! I almost forgot one of my favorite parts of my most favorite Park - Cathedral Valley. Not a hike, but a glorious scenic drive north and east of the Waterpocket Fold. High clearance, sometimes 4 wheel drive, always only when it's dry. Go, you'll be glad you did!

Happy Trails!

A WEEK?? Come on, Eric -- you were there at least two weeks to hike all those trails. (10 days, anyway)
Unless you used a travel guide for the pictures [emoticon]

Kindly do not post pictures of one of my favorite parks. It is already too well known.

To prevent further unwanted disclosures, please send $1,000,000.00 in the form of cashier's check to my PayPal account. Once I have received the funds, all mention of this Park will be removed. [emoticon]

Don't worry - people still won't go there, not when Capitol Reef has to compete for time with the likes of Arches, Bryce, Zion, and El Grande Canon.
