i just bought a 1982 truck camper. It did not come with a spot for battery.

I know how to hook up one. Im just thinking should i put battery on truck or rv?

I have manual jacks so i dont plan on taking off when camping.

Alsoi dont have a safe place to put it in the camper. Every where i could would be inside. Ideas?

How about between the camper and the pickup box? Should be room in front and behind the wheel wells.

In an ideal world personally I would rather have a dual battery set up IF I was NEVER going to use the frig when it was off the truck. The rest of time running around in an empty truck I would have a back up battery that would always be hot. [emoticon]

You can mount it up under the bed like a van or if you have a single battery in the truck you can add one there,

Another option might be to use a gel battery....you can have that inside, I believe?

Do you have an access door in the bottom of the camper, to get at that space forward of the wheel-well in the bed? If so, you could make a battery box or bracket that would hold the batter in that location for when you slide he camper in...then connect the wires and you would be all set.
Pull the box and battery when you take off the camper...and install a disconnect switch between the alternator and the camper battery, when not in use.

Under the hood if there is room or in the truck bed beside the camper as has been said. you are right it's not safe in camper!!
Unless you put it in an air tight box that is vented to the outside.I'm not comfortable with that
At least one on the forum here has added brackets under the bed and added a battery underneath.

I have a diesel, therefore i already have two under hood. I dont think a third is a option.

I thought about under box located on the frame. Pry next to fuel tank.
