RE: Basement Door Latch replacement

Are they like these? Mine were breaking off the plastic tips basement latch Yes, pain in the butt. Mine had the screws on the backside of the door to attach to the latch and they were like a one time self drilled screw and I had to use vise grips to unscrew them. I had to take apart the door skin on the back to get the linkage rods to connect I don't slam the door shut anymore lol

RE: How long is too long to be extended

I thought of modifying the trailer and know someone who could do it I hate cutting up a perfectly good trailer lol. Not sure what would happen if an accident occurred and the insurance company found the modification though I was wondering if there was a calculation for the length vs tongue weight. Maybe I'm over thinking this. If the receiver is rated for 500# tongue then a standard hitch with my 400# tongue weight would be 400# If I extend it 12" do I still have 400# at the receiver or might it be 500# now?

RE: How long is too long to be extended

I want the multi hitch for the truck since I use both the 2" and 2 5/16" ball. Just wondering if I could use it in addition to my other hitch to extend further on the rv. I have hit the ladder on the back of the rv. I have had the top front edge of the trailer come very close to hitting the rv It doesn't take much of an angle when pulling out of a site onto the road to get the trailer too close for comfort

RE: Do you use a cargo trailer?

How long is too long to be extended

We boondock for the majority of our trips. Get into some tricky areas where we have to keep the trailer from hitting the back of the rv. Didn't have a choice when I got the trailer otherwise i would have gone V nose and extended tongue. I added an extended hitch and it helped a lot I want to get one of these multi hitches for the truck and wondered if putting the extended hitch into this other hitch might create a safety issue. Trailer fully loaded is about 4600# and I have 400# tongue weight Adjustable hitch https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48739369668_ebebcb4e6b_c.jpg20190915_1421331 by 185 EZ, on Flickr

RE: Yet another Onan running like **** thread. HELP!

Not sure what it costs to have one professionally cleaned but the ebay ones look identical and also are the upgraded version if you have the one with the filter that screws onto the carb. They eliminated the filter for possible fuel leaks Not even sure why they thought the need for 2 fuel filters

RE: Yet another Onan running like **** thread. HELP!

Like others have said just replace the **** carb. I **** failed to exercise my gen and the carb got gummed up I cleaned it so you could eat off it and it still didn't **** work And quit wasting your **** money on seafoam I bought the cheap **** carb on ebay and it worked perfect Even if it doesn't work it's worth the 40 **** bucks to see if it's the problem https://www.ebay.com/itm/Carburetor-Carb-541-0765-For-Onan-5500-Grand-Marquis-Gold-generator-HGJAA-HGJAB/333271208965?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item4d98831405:g:fYAAAOSwW4ddMZHT&enc=AQAEAAAB0BPxNw%2BVj6nta7CKEs3N0qVKu%2FWklD8L0bg5KkK9vIby%2FTQ%2BCEbnw1lYqvdU03xZ6XLZh7xTdB1KZ9jrPteoYJGtYeetsZ3HGS1GEUgn4uohJdbr73upPqPLId6j2%2F5URvDsToHwd56lu4aMAfSta7ube4ARBl8YaIvHq0H9TRNpu11tp1UyYdFVuGUPGeta14Nv3068vE4U2xk7yZi6mk7K02DY4cdmPaIvoxtdqcTzTncwegb6YHkPJforRghDV4%2BhM76nCmtP2jnwP%2Fej5txMOhcoMAguzeH7pEyOmdnKGLu2%2Bxl42wN2GBk6BhiJCuESAF39sqceMZ9lIiD45JD7nwfl3fXLzl47vBISspf%2Fn2C90oE0P7Usbmgu8dncrjtkvDzWoGadsKVyEZEzDK6MBvYea3xWR6UqmvbcJcwAlH8sPhA3lm4S9UDsmKNVVy8s%2BThyY2nv9aZoRLU6CNLjtKczVq3461E88SbJSujjG4wekoklD8vFRGmYHY9dAAvmAVWPIu%2F8wKpGU1JND2WwUol1JZ9BQKJ5k1CVWv7jsJ5%2FxKfFWQGzHiPUL8XHVO6vTCs4dGmivGTsJShGfXZIJDcXVhYp%2F4j4tHwARXyi&checksum=3332712089654cb76a38469746de8acaad675c6e7a34

RE: solar update

Keep talking. I have the small factory solar panel that doesn't do anything. Just looking for a panel to help out on weekend boondocking. Is 100 watt the minimum? It doesn't have to fully charge the two 6 volt batteries but just give them a boost during the day to make it through a night

RE: Louder TV??

I have a hard time hearing people in front of me when I'm in a crowded room and people or music is behind me. Have you tried closed captioning? I tried the portable bluetooth speaker, JBL Charge, and it's a world of difference. Not all portable speakers are created equal. I have 3 different brands and they all sound different. Are you using a stereo plug/cable for the speaker? Some are just mono plugs. I also spend some time adjusting the speakers in the tv settings to make it right good luck I said GOOD LUCK! :)

RE: Keeping fridge cool in high 90s temps

Just get a bag o ice. I don't even turn the fridge on before we go camping for the weekend. We freeze water bottles They not only cool the fridge quickly but I also don't have to turn the fridge past #4. I also have one of those mini fans by the coils I have a 4 door and if it's a short weekend I have a sheet of styrofoam cutout to block off the lower part of the fridge. Biggest thing I've found is plan ahead and try not to open the door too much.

RE: Onan 5500 Backfires and Dies under a load

That sure seems like a lot. I just measured mine. 13' from outlet on gas tank to inlet on gen on a 34' rv. Maybe they put the tanks under the toy hauler garage to be used to fill up the toys too?

RE: Onan 5500 Backfires and Dies under a load

Great thought, but instead of it pulling 35 feet from the tank its now pulling it less than 2 feet. Problem also happened with fresh gas from the tank. No, electric fuel pumps are placed inside tanks or below the tank especially in high performance applications Your pump would do better being level pulling 35' than trying to pull 2' from below. I doubt they would put a gas tank 35' away Why are you using a separate tank?

RE: Onan 5500 Backfires and Dies under a load

Yay! Also, electric fuel pumps aren't good for drawing or sucking fuel. Having the tank below the pump isn't good

RE: Onan 5500 Backfires and Dies under a load

For the past year I have been searching for answers and replacing parts with no improvement. What year is this toyhauler? Did it run right the previous year? Have you checked that it has proper gas flow from the tank? Have you tried loosening gas cap while running?

RE: Onan 5500 Backfires and Dies under a load

Look underneath the muffler Probably a square 1/4" pipe plug Remove it and run the gen Could be a lean condition if the plug porcelain was white but you just changed plugs. The tip was black so maybe it's more ignition related, wire, coil, circuit board etc. Check your altitude adjustment The fact you replaced carb and pump and filters points more to ignition or lack of.

RE: Onan 5500 Backfires and Dies under a load

Just throwing stuff out there Have you pulled the plug on the bottom of the muffler to clean the spark arrestor?
