RE: Good news... dreaming of BEV Class A

Even with the Tesla cars, many are still like beating up on Tesla even though - 1. They produce the highest safety rated vehicle - CHECK 2. They produce the fastest production vehicle - CHECK 3. They produce the least expensive car to operate - CHECK 4. They produce the highest quality vehicle, so much so they broke the Consumer Reports quality standard (past not present). - CHECK 5. They produce the cleanest operating vehicle - CHECK But yet, many still bash the company. I guess you can't win no matter what.

RE: I got the shakes

Alignment will not cause shaking. Tire wear yes, shaking no. I would suspect first balance, second the rims being out of round or bent. Possibly due to the tires not being mounted correctly or some sort of debris not allowing the rim to be mounted to the vehicle hubs in a perfectly flat position.

RE: Getting very frustrated with this site!

FWIW, the server problems are nothing new. This site has had a funky server for as long as I can been posting here. Not sure why, except this was once a very popular forum, and unless you have run a forum server, you would have a hard time understanding what happens behind the scenes. Cyber attacks happen weekly, spam bots attack daily, idiots get on here posting spam. It is a daily battle I am certain, and almost a full time job. Don't be too hard on the Admin, as keeping a site like this up and running is not easy. Too many outside people/bots/cyber attacks making an Admin's life miserable.

RE: Anyone interested in 83 Pace Arrow Tear down and Rebuild?

Well, you are over $8300 in costs on this project. And you have not even begun to do the cabinets, plumbing, flooring, seats, couch, AC, heat TV etc. Not to mention the exterior and roof. I am sorry to say, you can probably add another "0" to your costs by the time this gets done. I respect you for what you are doing, and I can tell you are enjoying yourself. Sometimes there is greater value than just dollars and cents (sense). However, at some point, someone has to slap you and make you come to your senses. This project, as noble and entertaining as it is, has no happy outcome. I believe you are a craftsman, but by the time you finish this, you will have a vehicle with virtually no value, and to be perfectly honest, I doubt it will be road worthy. You have not even touched the mechanical aspects, which alone could be as much as you have already spent, never mind the time you have involved. You are free to continue with it. That is your choice. But you need to step back and look at your project and the time and money you have invested. Has it been worth it? Maybe the personal satisfaction you gain has greater value than the balance in your check book. However, you "could" simply buy a decent class C for around 10K and go fishing. Maybe your wife would agree. You should ask her. I wish you all the luck in the world on your endeavor, but honestly, is it really worth it? I think its time to re-evaluate your project. After all, it has been two years and three months, and you still have a very, very long way to go.

RE: Anyone interested in 83 Pace Arrow Tear down and Rebuild?

So, for you to complete just the wheel wells (nice job by the way), there were approximately 210 posts detailing this process. Just for the wheel wells. I can only imagine what the posts will be like once you start on the cabinets. I might wait for the Readers Digest version to come out. You are a man of infinite patience. I am tired just from reading your posts, I can only imagine what it must be like to actually do the work, and provide such detailed posts of your journey.

RE: building new campground

No. California is. My dump station "fee" for my project was $142,000. No typo. That was for only 2 dump stations, that were private, not public. My offsite fees were north of $700,000. School fees, TUMF fees, Environmental fees, drainage fees, permit fees, blah, blah, blah. Glad it's over. You have a nice dream, but either you go big and build a substantial project that can amortize the costs over many sites, or go home.

RE: building new campground

Great idea. There is no shortage of demand. Figure on about $20,000 per site for your construction costs, no frills. Not counting county and or city fees. Lucky that you already own the land.

Use baby powder to keep the fibers from getting into your skin.

RE: How to clean battery acid spill

One word of caution - Don't get the baking soda inside the battery. It will then neutralize the battery.

RE: Emergency escape thoughts...

The few pictures I have seen of a motorhome rollover, the walls and roof simply blew apart. Like a kids house made of playing cards. Not much structure there.

RE: Anyone interested in 83 Pace Arrow Tear down and Rebuild?

FWIW - I used to build surfboards back in the day. We didn't have epoxy resins back then, just polyester. Considering your use, your common polyester resin will be just fine. Just make certain you use the proper amount of catalyst for the temperature out side. It makes a huge difference on working time and strength. Too much catalyst will make the resin overheat in the pot. Use type "S" cloth. It is the strongest and easiest to work with. You have a variety of cloth weights to chose from, though probably not at Home Depot. Also, there are two types of resin. One being a laminating resin, that stays a little sticky for applying multiple layers, and a sanding resin, that cures hard and allows for sanding and polishing. Surfboards generally use 4 oz on the bottom, and 8 oz on the deck. For your use, 8 oz is a good general weight. Best of luck.
