RE: 5th wheel front tripod

They are great to support a flag pole under.. Thats it I could think of cheaper flagpole holders! LOL RE: the question about supporting the front end in the event of front leg failure, the tri-pod would be toasted! I agree w/ others on this point. You want stability and don't have 6pt level up, go w/ JT Strongarms

RE: How to go about fixing skylight leak

As a temp fix tho tape isn't, use Eternabond to get you by. I re-caulked the entire roof/side walls couple years ago as as well as checking all places where factory caulked. After seeing a fellow Heartland owners new Roof Armor (I'm pretty sure that's who did it), made me think that I may want to go this route cuz they will seal everything probly better than what came from factory. Not cheap as I think it ran him several grand, but results have been great. Just saying this as an alternative.

RE: New bathroom sink replacement bead sealer

Not sure what type of sealant was used, but in the stick house, I've used a clear plumbers putty w/ very good results. Had to scrape off anything left w/ a razor blade 1st before installing sink then the putty.

Point to ponder, hornets nest stir

Stopped by our old RV dealer today to speak w/ a person there and off course off today. So struck up a conversation w/ a sales lady about their take on today's SRW trucks and what the mfr's of them are saying about towing and what the RV dealer recommends. Well it seems the RV dealer is saying that you really don't need a DRW for 5ers unless your doing a lot of cross country driving. Being a lil surprised, I asked even tho the GVW of the 5er is pushing 15,5 and up, pin weights of 3500 and up? Reply back was, "depends on weight capacity of the truck". Sigh.

RE: Low tree branches in my development ..Update

Here in CNY, most housing tracts I know of, the roads are maintained by the local Hiway dep't after once the roads are in. I agree w/ others, try contacting local DPW and explain nicely what's up. More than likely they'll come and cut things down. Yes, all wires have to be above 14' and have heard stories of semi's taking them down if not. If no resolve w/ DPW, call mayor, town super and such.......again, be nice about it. And if need be, like others said too, ask neighbors if they could help you trim things and then set cuttings next to curb for lawn/leaf pick crews as they should come thru every couple weeks or so. Your paying taxes for this service or at least it should be incl in your taxes.

RE: New couch ideas ???

Don't the backs of them come off? The ones on our home recliners and couch (non sleeper) did anyways.

RE: Cedar Creek rear cap cracks

You said you spoke w/ FR. Was it FR or Cedar Creek? CC used to have awesome customer service, but sadly times may have changed since we owned one. If no luck there. just my $.02, but insurance or lawyer time?

RE: 2022 F-350 Demo Impressions

I've been resisting driving the new Super Duty's for a reason and with the 2023 Duty's coming up it maybe even more challenging. …… Yep. I went in for an oil change a few years ago on my old F350 Superduty and came home with a new one. :S Hate it when that happens :B LMAO.....but true!

RE: Disc Brakes - Saved me $$$$

Are the disk brakes a retro fit? How do they work with trucks power thru cord? If a DIY job, how hard and long does it take? What info is needed to order them? I really like Learjets set up. TIA

RE: Water Tank Fill

Our Big Country has the overflows coming thru the frame as well and when we do need to fill/haul full fresh tank, I fill it iill water flows out, shut of water from house and away we go. Don't loose any or perhaps just a little, but still arrive at CG some 100 miles away w/ full tank (60 gal). Unable to fill tank at CG, hence having to fill at house.

RE: Disc Brakes - Saved me $$$$

FWIW, pretty much all of our new semis and trailers are coming thru with disks. I notice the biggest diff when it's raining. Disks stop a whole lot better whereas drums need to be "warmed up" to get water off them. My truck is a '16 Freightshaker w/ close to 600K miles and I want to say it still has orig bakes/rotors on it which is attributed to using the Jake and a lot of Hiway miles. And YES, if I stand on them, They will put you into the windshield. Glad no-one was hurt FTG.

RE: Fuel Availability

Have been many rumors about diesel fuel shortages, but none that I've heard of here in upstate NY. Any of the major fuel places are going to be the highest priced IMO. Couple years ago, fuel along the Mass pike was cheap compared to NY. Back in '17 we stopped at a independent truck stop along 95 before turning due south for Bar Harbor and price wasn't too bad then. Then again, I stop at places that have a high turn-over of fuel.

RE: Wobble Stoppers?

Another vote for ditching the Trip-pod and getting the JT's. Also, re-tighten the X-chocks after tires cool down and if possible, add more blocks of wood under any points of contact the front legs/rear stabs have w/ the ground to shorten the extension of said components. But all in all, the JT's will be your best friend.

RE: Discoverer AT3 XLT

The orig batts in my truck tho good still on juice, the gasses leaking out of the one was getting to be a PITA......not to mention being made in '16. So last year at a local battery place (not big brand/name place....just a local owned one) and bought 2 "2nds" for about 1/2 the price as "1sts" and have same wty. Got them last fall and no probs so far.

Keeping Gypsie Moth Caterpillars at bay

We will be camping soon and afraid that we maybe in the same boat as last year in dealing w/ these pesky critters. 1st time in same spot after many year w/o them CG said the "talked/mentioned" this to their grounds crew, but who knows. They were all over the RV and truck and even crawling up chairs coming down their little "strings" from the branches above. Tho I've asked the office if any cancellations in another section, all they say is "n', and we don't have a waiting list, so keep calling back". UGH!!! Any recommendations as to what to do if we cannot get another site?
