RE: '18 F150 with 5.5 box tow a 5th wheel ?

Think Pay load capacity! Not towing capacity! If you do, you will see a half ton pickup has no business being mentioned in a fifth wheel discussion. Hey, but everyone else thinks they can tow monster 5'ers with a 3/4 ton.....so what the heck??

RE: Which one is really about camping?

Having been around this Forum for a good many years, I'm thankful that someone/anyone is posting of late.....the topic in this climate, really doesn't matter. If not for some off the wall posts, we'd be down to a quarter page of new topics instead of our dismal half page!

RE: Cordless blowers

I found a corded one at a thrift store.....5 bucks on a discount day. It's small and works very well!??

RE: Internet camera's/switches

Ok then, I feel much better about getting a couple more of those 19.99 Wyze cameras.....not really, I have enough already. Thank you everyone!!!!

RE: Death Valley NP

Although I never have stayed at this campground I'm going to mention, I did check it out. In Armagosa Valley at Long Street Casino they have a nice RV Park, all full hook ups and when I was visiting out of 50+ sites about 2 were occupied. Beautiful grounds, small Casino and very close to the road into Death Valley.

RE: Internet camera's/switches

Very good point.....as I said, it's more a curiosity at this time, not a real concern but Thanks just the same!

RE: Internet camera's/switches

Ok...I see where I screwed up but typical home routers are dual frequencies? 5ghz and 2.4ghz? I see now some Wi-Fi cameras are dual band also but many only operate on the 2.4 band so I guess the question said a different way, will the 2.4ghz band ever( near future) become obsolete? I'm guessing that if all routers were to only be 5ghz then all those devices sold today would become useless unless the change could be worked around on a software basis. I understand my error so thank you for setting g me straight????

Internet camera's/switches

Not so much an RV question but certainly could apply, with the advent of all things using a Wi-Fi network( camera's particularily)....I wonder at times how long before the network they work on, generally 2.4 ghz, is obsolete. Most cameras/switches tell you up front that they only work on the older frequency range....ones that I've seen anyways. With 5g and 6g not so far off, will it simply be a software upgrade or will all this we are buying now be worthless? I'm not panicked but more curious so if anyone has input .....I'm all ears.???? or maybe I'm totally off base, show me the light!

RE: Class A travel without interstates

Driving through on the Interstate system is generally not a problem although when we're talking very large cities, I try to time my venture through at a less than rush hour event. I've driven through New York City by MH once and driven into and around Long Island on another occasion and I can tell you the later will never happen again. If you must, be sure to know the difference between an Expressway and a Parkway! I'm sure the east coast drivers know exactly what I'm referring too. I Love NY but not for driving a large RV!

RE: Prostate Cancer

How timely this is! I just, finally, had a MRI-Fusion ultra sound biopsy yesterday. The different approaches to biopsies today is even more confusing that what it was 10 years ago. I'm 66 and my PSA numbers have been elevated for some time. Ten years ago I thought a biopsy was happening but with a last minute blood test and PSA dropping, it didn't happen. Over the last year, the PSA has been up to 10.2, 7.7 and 5.7......take your pick! Like most, if I was going to have a biopsy, I wanted the most accurate and most pin point avaiable! Anyways, the doctor who preformed the biopsy noted that my prostrate was enlarged( 2 to 2 1/2 times larger than normal) and given my last PSA reading, believed that number was small compared to the actual size of the prostrate. The Doc took samples from the MRI suspect area and some general samples in other areas. He felt he got a very good sampling. Next step, my urologist will provide the results next week. Fingers crossed! The procedure itself, my first, was relatively painless and quick and so far no after procedure bleeding. Good luck to all going through this! Oh, if your not on Flomax for urine stream....you should be, I swear by that stuff!????

RE: Anyone Installed a Bigger TV?

With a vintage 96 motorhome, the old tube 19" just didn't quite make it. While I played with different locations with flat screens, I finally ended up hanging a 50" from the ceiling which is hinged. I've had this now for several years and it works well.

RE: Waste Tote Recommendations

Someone gifted me a large tote a few years back...40 gallon I think. I have yet to use it but headed to a place later this year with no sewer connection. I'm pretty confident I'll only use it for gray water and only about half full at a time.

RE: T-Mobile Coverage

We've had T mobile for a number of years now...there 55+ plan works great although I did opt to get a Verizon account via Visible as long as I can keep at the 25.00 per month. I've been pretty fortunate to keep it at that price which is also unlimited.( As much as any so called unlimited plan is.)

RE: Grand Teton Campgrounds new reservation deal

Haven't stayed at GrosVentre in years but it was always a place you could turn to to get an overnight or longer stay at the last minute. First time I stayed their it was a Saturday afternoon in July....only place you could get into! With reservations, I think that option will be gone.

RE: Busted!

Not to go off topic but I got a couple wood storage sheds at a Great price....I have a 10' concrete block retaining wall with a 6' wooden fence on top of that separating myself and the neighbor behind me. Being the sheds were wood, there was some hammering, nail gun usage but I honestly used more screws because I was aware of the noise hammering makes. Long story short, my neighbor above me didn't like me hammering in my own yard....she called the city saying I was illegally constructing a building on my property. Of course they came out and said I was fine but I'd have to come down and pay a fee(100.00)...not a building permit but just a Code fee. It still makes me laugh because I'm an old fart and I never started before noon and finished after only 2-3 hours....it took me 6 weeks, so I wasn't out there every day either. You can't please everyone!!!

RE: Busted!

I feel your pain. Our city apparently has a Code indicating that your RV must be 13' from the face of the curb. Action on this code is only taken upon neighbors complaint. I had to shave off the eaves of my home on the side yard in order to back the MH in far enough to achieve this distance. I have to admit I sometimes do not back all the way in until I get told to do so by Code enforcement and of course that's only after my lovely neighbor has called. Just to be sure, we're talking about 3' distance further back. Good luck with your neighbors!?

RE: Installing a safe?

Have to agree with previous thought! I have a safe in that same corner of the closet nicely concealed and certainly welded into place but with my wife, loading every inch of the MH, I couldn't get to anything fast if I wanted to! Your firearm needs to be secure but also readily available if need be.

RE: Which pick up to buy for towing big fifth wheel?

Simply put.....look at the payload capacity of said truck. A one ton, at least, is a No brainer. My buddy who just retired put the cart before the horse and bought a 3/4 ton pickup....plenty of towing ability but when he wanted to get a decent size fifth wheel, the payload of a 3/4 ton just would not work! Yes, I know everyone does it with a 3/4 ton, but it's not the right way to do it. That buddy ended up with a long trailer....

RE: splicing aluminum to copper elec wire

Only thing that's comes to my mind is the " purple " wire nuts made specially for that type of splice! We always wrapped them in a good quality electrical tape also.

RE: A pretty nutty motorhome

Growing up in Hollywood back in the 50-60s, a time when Oscar Mayer and his Wiener-mobile were more prevelent, the local store where Dad shopped had frequent visits from "Oscar"! This may have been because across the street from the market was the " Harvey Hotel", a location where many "little people" lived including Oscar( I believe to be the original Oscar but I'm not sure). Anyways, my brother, back in the day, procured a whole box of the Wiener Whistles.....just two nights ago we were talking about this and there worth. No, there is no big market for whistles, original or not!????
