RE: Where to Stay in Mammoth, CA?

Very little choice in Mammoth for full hook up site....off hand, in the town is Mammoth Mtn. RV Park....I've never stayed there. There are a few places over on the June Lake loop, the only one I've stayed at was Golden Pine, tight spots but pretty central. I'm happy to get in anyplace up that way...which normally means Forest Service camps....have fun!

RE: Memphis to Branson

On Wow....did 25-26 shows in 30 days a few years ago! Only did one dinner show and that's the Stampede....afternoon and nite shows can fill as many days as you can handle. The "Landing" where the Bass Pro is a lot of fun to wander about and enjoy Happy Hour, lunch or dinner. Never did make it to Silver Dollar City but its certainly an option. I think the Train ride is still running also across the street from the Landing. Have Fun!!!

RE: Newbie Question on wi-fi

I could be way off here but I have the "ToGo" Wi-Fi booster( similar to yours). I believe your Winegard is a booster in that it helps with any Wi-Fi signal but it's also an access point that accepts a SIM card too. I'm not sure who Winegard is associated with but you can buy data plans through them. Here again....I could be confusing this with something else!

RE: Member Blocking is a Blessing

Judging from the lack of "post's" in general, it seems most everyone is gone! In all my time on here, I think I had one character that was not only a pain on this forum but on at least 2 of 3 other forums too. My problem was my user name is the same so I was easy to find. Oh well....just happy to see a few new post daily here now!

RE: CBC radio

I've had a CB radio since Jr. High school....had one mounted on my bicycle and went to what did they call them back in the 60'ies, "coffee breaks"? in parking lots. I can't tout the use of them nowadays although I continue to have one in the RV as well as the "toad"....still get a kick out of listening mostly now even though much of the CB traffic is now 10 meter traffic. I use it while traveling with others(caravans) and when I disconnect the toad and looking for a campsite within a campground or narrow road leading into a CG. If your stuck in traffic, it's generally too late to do much about it but still nice to know which lines are closed ahead or exactly what's going on causing traffic. Mostly, these circumstances amount to short distance communication and I expect nothing more! Enjoy!!!

RE: What load capacity should a ladder have for A/Cs?

Having done this a few times over the years, the extension ladder is pretty easy. As others have pointed out, use a towel/piece of rug to protect side of RV. Leave the air conditioner in the box to help prevent damage. I placed the box onto a piece of plywood slightly larger than the air conditioner box, secured box to plywood, drill a couple of holes in plywood for rope( similiar to a "Y" connection). You want the extension ladder to be right at the same height as the roof of the RV thus you having to pull it up over the rungs of the ladder(thus sliding right onto the roof.) Ok....still takes two people. One person pushing and sliding the plywood up the ladder and the other person pulling on the rope while on the roof. It actually goes pretty easy. My RV has a fiberglass roof and I'm not small....weight was no issue!

RE: What is happening with our members?

Wow....I guess I can be considered in both camps...a member here since 2002 and an old man but I claim to know little. I will, on occassion, offer up my experience as it pertains to my ownership of a diesel motor home and RV'ing in general. I could care less how many times a question has been asked, if I can answer it, I will! As to looking at an owners manual, in the words of your President, " Come on man" not everyone gets an owners manual with their used RV or what's in the manual is confusing to them. Finally, I guess I'm glad I'm not that "grouchy" yet as to not respond to simple questions. :-)

RE: 2022 Zephyr or Cornerstone - Which Should I Buy?

Might look at used Blue Birds (the 450's). Yes, used but I've seen a few with low miles and less than half of a new 500,000.00 coach! That's just me though....I've always wanted a "Bird". Good luck in your search!

RE: What is happening with our members?

Kind of funny but I've been here for over 20 years and driving the same motor home for that time yet, I have to study a fueling station pretty closely before committing to actually pulling in. The way gas/diesel pumps are crowded together along with towing a car can make the best of us pucker up hoping not to get tangled up at the pumps! IMHO

RE: Free Arctic Fox, you haul it.

Kayteg1..... Are you the one and same that was part of this Forum from way back when? As in So far back to have been part of the old Southern Calif Rallies put together on this very forum? I only ask because I came across a picture of one of the first Rallies at Puddingstone Lake near the county fair grounds....a picture depicting an unusual RV at a RV Rally...a Boat(cabin cruiser)! Anyways, never been good at posting pictures here but if it is you, I could always E mail to you.. Dwight

RE: Outdoor camp oven

Love our Camp Chef too. It's kinda bulky but it works great. Great for baking pizza..our RV doesn't have an oven so this really is great!

RE: Yellowstone with pets

I am also over the top with wanting to stay tethered to our dogs in the RV.....it's a given to have a Temp monitor( I use the Verizon based Marcell), I also use a Web Cam having Verizon, AT&T and T mobile hot spots......but I can always find someplace where cell is no good at all even with all the latest boosters and gadjets! Yellowstone historically is one such "dead Zone"! This is where I agree with a previous poster, our dogs are our responsibilty, one that we take seriously and happily...if one of us has to stay behind to ensure tranquality, then that's what happens!

RE: Yellowstone with pets

I'm guessing since your staying at Fishing Bridge, your doing so because of the full hook ups? This means you have the opportunity to set your air conditioner accordingly and radio/TV so "Fido" doesn't feel alone. Having had dogs my whole RV'ing life, this above is generally the way I do things. If you leave the doggies in the RV, be a good neighbor after a full day away and ask if your Pet was a bother to anyone close enough to hear a barking dog. Just my guess, most people who stay at Fishing Bridge do so for the same reasons as you and chances are your neighbors will be out most days site seeing also. Lastly, if you do make a day of it to Old Faithful, I've always seen dogs in that area simply by staying off the boardwalks. I'm not a big fan of leaving a dog in a car no matter the weather.

RE: Happy Campers no longer available in CA?

Loud mouths that know it all fit pretty good into your categories also. I think after roughly 20 years on this RV forum and the limited number of posts I've had, I think I'll just ignore your "****" if you will! Sorry if I went off a tangent on your on post. Geeus!!! But my post only offered info for those reading the forum and don't understand air pressure and it's effect on sewer gas. Sorry almighty one that you knew all this already!

RE: Happy Campers no longer available in CA?

Sorry, I'm not in the habit of putting grey/black water into a bucket just so I can see if it stinks. The idea is to get it from your rear end, into the toilet, down into the tanks, out the sewer hose and into whatever septic system there is with the least amount of stink. Now if I had an issue with any of the above process I'd address it but it's Never been an issue unless I have an unforseen spill or a very leaky sewer hose with a sewer connection less than air tight. I'll add....this has been my experience, if you are anyone else wants to treat their waste with chemicals, perfumes, soaps or potions....have at it!!????????

RE: Impact of fuel prices on travel

Shorter distances for sure and probably longer stays at whatever campground I might be in!!

RE: Interstate rest area stops

This topic is always so much Fun.....if you are tired, falling asleep at the wheel tired, I don't care if your in an RV or an OTR truck....use the Rest Area....that's what they are for. No one has any specific right to their exclusive use. I've heard all the arguments on how truckers pay higher highway taxes....sure they do but find me a stretch of road that's not tore up!! Once again, if you need rest, use the Rest Area! Imho????

RE: Happy Campers no longer available in CA?

Well, I hate to put a kink in anyone's sewer hose but MY EXperience with black/grey tank odor is the same as a previous poster. The only time I treat either tank is when I've completely dumped for the last time and I'm returning home. I do not treat a tank that's periodically being dumped at a campground with hook ups....and the only smell is held within the tank itself. If you are treating every single time you dump, you have a sewer gas leakage issue or you need to adjust the air pressures so your aren't drawing odors out of the tank. I'll leave it at this...that's my experience in 40+ RVing years.
