RE: Going To Use 18 watt LED Spotlights To Illuminate Shoulder

Yep...nothing wrong with a bit more light in darkness to help brighten things up a bit. I added a couple of extra "white" lights to the front of my older MH....helps quite a bit on those very dark roads. On that same subject, and I probably shouldn't mention this, but I love to turn on the roof Spot/Flood Roof light....(yes, I'm careful to turn it off at first sight of on coming traffic) BUT..WOW what a difference it makes in seeing on those dark desert highways with the cool wind in my hair!! :-)

RE: The Wife Says We Are Keeping Our '89

When I look outside at our '96 Vogue, I always think how nice a slide would be BUT then it hits me....the MH still looks great, it certainly is built a lot better than most anything nowadays, it still runs good(knock on wood) and besides, I'm always tinkering with it. If I had something NEW, I'd be like the everyone else....."OH No, I can't drill into it" ….you know what I mean.

RE: wifi booster

For a few years now, I've used the "Rogue Wave", I placed the antenna atop my Crank up TV antenna to give it some height. I just checked prices....wow, they've gone up! Anyways....it does just an OK job. It will take a weak signal and make it stronger but as pointed out, most campground Wi-Fi sucks anyways. If I happen to be in a Walmart parking lot while the wife shops, it does the job picking up Walmart's signal from where I'm Parked. Once again, I think improving your Cell signal/Hot Spot signal is what I'm aiming for and the WeBoost will be in my future.

RE: Electrical Help Please

Just to be sure....my older motorhome did not charge the chassis battery while on shore power...the fix, NOT a bandage is the Echo Charger. It connects between the House batteries and chassis allowing just enough charge to bleed off to the chassis to keep it topped off. The Echo Charger does not connect to anything but the batteries, no separate plug in(120 volt) hence the name, Echo! PS....it's made by Xantrex, the same people who make Inverters????

RE: Electrical Help Please

May want to look in a "Echo Charger" a device that allows charging of the chassis battery/batteries while on shore power.

RE: Camping in Finger Lakes Region

Yes, Wineries and Breweries are plentiful in the whole area. Also, Watkin's Glen State Park is beautiful to walk through, just take your time, it can be strenuous. They also have a campground their but not sure of any details.

RE: Flying J not taking GS card for discount at pumps.

Over the year's I've accumulated so many of the Flying J/ Good Sam Cards its almost too confusing to attempt use. I always try at the pump with cards I have...if it works Great, if not, I continue without it. As stated previously....it's not a bargain at Flying J any longer as it once was.

RE: Allison Transmission's Shift Selector shows error or is dark

John is a wonderful human being at Transmission Specialist's. He helped me troubleshoot my issues last year. My experience is chronicled someplace here on the Forum including locations where I finally found someone who could Test my ECM outside of the vehicle. Net result was I did use "John" to have both my ECM and Touchpad rebuilt at prices that left others with their mouths wide open....in other words, his prices are not touched by anyone else. All is back to normal now and believe me when I say, I did my research and more troubleshooting than I care to admit....lol :-)

RE: Replace carpet with dog friendly surface floors

If I was 10 years younger I'd come over 126 to help DIY it with ya. I certainly understand the want and need when you have doggies. Heck, I tiled the whole house after original white carpet went out the window with our older Collies. Did the same in the MH with tile and wood but No slides on ours.

RE: What's the one thing that you have but hardly EVER use?

Have to agree with original poster, my Genturri gets very little use. I will sometimes bring a small inverter generator with me that generally doesn't move out of the compartment. Just to be different, I love my TV's and yet, I can still spend enough time outside to meet and greet the whole neighborhood! Funny how that works!!

RE: Salute to Sully (Sully2) - miss his posts...

I certainly remember him well and his Wit. I know he could be harsh at times but seems to me he mellowed in later years. I also miss his posts and banter...

RE: How do you turn off the residential fridge?

Don't quote me on this but I also have a Haier from Lowes, although its about 5 years old, but it does shut off by simply turning the controls to zero....No on/off switch per/se but it does not cool in this position. Maybe I'll mosey out to the MH and look to see exactly what it says.

RE: loosing old members

Don't forget KPCC and Wolfman Jack I remember Wolfman broadcasting from Mexico on XERB....50,000 watt, you could hear him forever in the deserts of So. Calif.

RE: loosing old members

I still have some Quadraphonic 8 Track tapes sitting someplace in the garage. I went so far 45 years ago during my home stereo days to get a Quad 8 tract player for both car and home. Ahhh..the good old days!!!

RE: Mini-Split Airconditioners

I've seen a few installations on the WEB of Mini Split on RV's. I have given some thought to it also and I like the idea of them. Ones that I have seen were installed on Travel Trailers and looked Great. I'm sure you can find Pic on the Web....

RE: Recommend brands of Air Conditioner, Advent, Atwood anygood?

I've told this story before but what the heck, I can tell it again. When I first purchased the Motorhome in my Signature, one of my first trips was to Pahrump, Nevada. It was April of 2003...we figured that the heat would not have arrived yet. Low and behold, it was probably the hottest April on record, a mere 115 degree's. All I can say is those two Coleman 13.5 airs that I had at the time make it cool enough inside that I was wearing a sweatshirt/pants inside.(no lie, it was in the 60's in the MH) Anyways....the Old Vogue is insulated pretty good with no slides and awnings all around and there was some shade....but those Coleman did very well!!!

RE: loosing old members

I've been here a long time too and I have yet to post a Picture so the idea that's its difficult is Mute to me. Not even sure I've ever tried. I do get your idea about turning off signatures....who needs to know how many cars you have, how many RV's you've gone thru or in my case how many dogs I have and had!! LOL

RE: Recommend brands of Air Conditioner, Advent, Atwood anygood?

I've had a total of three different brands also. Started with Coleman 13.5 units when I first got the Motorhome. They worked Fine for the first 7-8 years, then went to Carrier AirV 15,000 BTU, again, I liked them too. I recently replaced one Carrier with an Atwood. So now the Carrier 15,000 BTU is in the rear and the Atwood is in the front. I think cooling and noise wise, the Atwood might be a tad quieter than the Carrier.

RE: loosing old members

Maybe that is only my impression, but trolling in this section went way down with last "change of power". For me the hardcore trolling is having nothing to say on the subject and come with post "I don't like trolling here" I was a member on this forum like 15 years ago and only handful of members from those times are still here. Most of them made moderators.... It's Chris, isn't it? I certainly remember you at our Rallies from the Forum. I recall you towing your Boat and using that as your RV when we were at that Lake near Pomona (my memory for those things is shot but I do remember you). I've been around here for a few years myself!! Sorry, but I'm going back to the rude folks over in the Class A Forum!! J/K'ing LOL
