RE: Rv beach sites

We liked Topsail Hill. Be sure to hit the Donut Hole for breakfast and take a ride down Route 30A. We also liked HoHum

RE: Glacier 2020 vanished

The "science" of global warming is based on a whole lot of assumptions. There are questions to ask that can't be answered. How dare you??? https://i.imgur.com/VZFKRezl.jpg

RE: RV parks North across bridge from Mackinaw City

There's a KOA on the south side. If you're into resort type parks, there's this.

RE: Is Socializing a Dying Thing in the RV Community?

Also, there are areas of the country that are more publicly social than others. I've had more conversations with strangers in the southeast than the northeast. The northeast with it's small lot sizes and high population density makes people territorial, and a impromptu conversation is more often than not greeted with "what does he want". This lack of space bubbles into all aspects of life, from the aggressive driving habits of people there to the amount of space you must leave between you and another person in line at the grocery store. And whatever you do, don't call anyone 'hun'! We find that most campers are still somewhat social if they're outside. If it's hot and the A/C is running, you just see fewer people outside. Hotter weather is hotter than it used to be.

RE: Failed Smog Teas

Doesn't CA have an age after which you don't need emissions? If it's 25 years, you're already there.

RE: Route recommendation

That's about 5500 miles round trip using I-80 (iffy in May weather wise). You'll average about 50 miles an hour so an 8 hour day (that's a loooonnnngggg day) gets you 400 miles down the road. That's 2 weeks on the road, stopping only for overnights and not seeing anything along the way. I would think a month is not enough time. Six weeks not much better. Route wise, I'd do the southern route (CA99/CA58 or US395 to Barstow to pick up I-40) on the way east and I-80 west. The snow in the mountain passes in WY should be gone by time you head for home. This would be a grind for me. I'd just fly. Flying would probably be cheaper too unless you're a big family.

RE: Tire pressure

Given your weights, I'd probably run 85# all around....D +5 for gauge error.

RE: Survey for online reservation vs old school phone and email

#1 - yes #2 - no. The only way I would pay a site lock if it included the ability to refuse the secondary site with a full refund. #3 - no. I google earth the campground and read online reviews looking for preferred sites. I don't select just any old site. #4 maybe. If I really want to be at a CG, I will call and see if there are are cancellations etc. If online says you're full, I'll go onto my next choice. #5 yes. Groups are a special case and screwing it up can cost you future revenue.

RE: Typical problem we all see in RV parks.

Another first world problem thread. Some people need to walk a mile.

RE: Typical problem we all see in RV parks.

An airport I flew out of had a "manufactured home" trailer park off the end of one of the runways. The residents showed up at commission meetings and complained of airplane noise. Someone in the crowd invariably would shout out "You people have wheels on your houses Move them!". That applies here as well.

RE: Damon Astoria 2007 turbo carbon build up.

Winns Haven't used this on a diesel, but I did this on my big V-8s and it made a difference.

RE: Refrigerator question for you class A campers

Dometic, Furrion and now GE are all making AC/DC fridges using variable speed compressors that fit in the same space as the old absorption units. They're running around 8 amp hours average.

RE: RV Park Reviews

BTW, the site is campgroundreviews.com now. Run by the same company that runs RV Trip Wizard. They have integrated reviews into trip wizard. Pretty handy feature.

RE: Overnight location - 1/2 way to FL from MA

Carolina Crossroads in Roanoke NC, just before the VA border. They have one row right by the office for late arrivals and overnighters. The office closes promptly at 5pm, but they leave the paperwork out for you. Close to I-95 and easy access.

RE: No Warranty on your RV? Don't buy new?

Another issue is the increasing dependability of modern cars with little or no maintenance has lulled the newbies into believing that RVs are the same. After all, most class C RVs are just Ford vans, right?

RE: casino camping

Silver Slipper in Waveland MS has a small FHU parking lot for RVs. Be careful which route you take to get to the coast from US90. There are some steep grade crossings and a TT was hit by a train when it got stuck on one. Lakeshore Rd. is the flattest. It's also the one that goes directly to the RV parking.

RE: Route to Florida

Has anyone taken one of these routes or have comments from Maine... 95-495-95-295(RI)-95-287-78-81-64-295(VA)-95-southern destination 95-495-95-295(RI)-95-287-78-81-66-17s-95-southern destination Thanks. If your goal is to miss NYC metro traffic, then neither of these. I-95 in CT and the Tappan Zee Bridge to I-287 is congested and the roads are in terrible condition. I would only do that route on a Sunday morning. Instead, take I-90 to I-84. From there you can pick up I-81 several ways. I've done US209 down the Delaware Water Gap to I-80.
