RE: Low overpasses, etc.

Trucker's atlas and Copilot RV app on a tablet. Keeps us away from places that TomTom says to go.

RE: Cammpground Rant

I tried to find a public campground somewhere near I-10 close to the Alabama Mississippi state line, no luck. So the extra 2 days here and a night on the road. Did you try the casino in Waveland. They have a parking lot with hookups right on the Gulf.

I forgot to mention that there's a huge flea market in Penn Yan every Saturday.

RE: Camping in Finger Lakes Region

We've done both Clute and the KOA in Watkins Glen. If you do the KOA, get a site in the back away from the road and activities. There's also a railroad that goes by which is less obvious in the back. Check the schedule at the raceway because you can hear the cars from the KOA.

RE: Temperature Data Logging, fridge, freezer, coach, etc..

Some useful info there i.e. how long before you leave should you start your fridge.

RE: Cherry Hill to Liberty Harbor routing help needed

Directly from their website Driving Directions From the South Take the Garden State Parkway to exit 129. Follow signs for I-95/NJ Turnpike North. Merge onto I-78 East via Exit 14 towards Jersey City/Columbus Drive. After paying the toll stay drive straight until you come to the first stoplight. After the first stoplight begin to merge to the farthest right lane. At the last stop light, make a right onto Marin Blvd. Follow this road until it ends; the office is on the right. From the North Take I-95 South to the New Jersey Turnpike exiting at 14 C. Stay to the right, after paying toll, follow sign for Christopher Columbus Drive. This exit ramp is from the right lane. Follow Columbus Drive (Christopher Columbus Drive) until you reach Marin Blvd. Make a right onto Marin Blvd and proceed south until you reach Liberty Harbor RV Park. From the West Take I-78 East towards Newark, NJ. Take I-78 Express lane East towards I-95/New Jersey Turnpike. I-78 Express Lane East becomes I-78. Take exit towards Jersey City/Columbus Drive. Take slight right onto Christopher Columbus Drive. Take slight right onto Marin Blvd. Destination is on the right.

RE: Saga of Cell Phone Accident...

I have seen police enforcing the no texting rule, but most others go unpunished. They include wipers on - lights on and keep right except to pass. If the LEOs can't be bothered to enforce existing laws, why pass any more? I read that in Massachusetts, they're having somewhat of a "blue state dilemma". They want to pass a hands-free laws, but the ACLU and others are afraid it will lead to racial profiling, so they're stuck in a state of limbo. I guess it's ok to rear end someone while talking on the phone as long as no one violates your civil rights while you're doing it.

RE: Key West question

Have some Key Lime Pie. Go to Jimmy Buffet's place. Dinner at Louie's Back Porch. Take a pic at the southern most monument.

RE: Easy Routes Through the Appalachians?

Well, the reason I am concerned about keeping things flat for my 7.3L Ford tow vehicle is that the last time I was coming east on the Uniontown-Cumberland route it dropped all of its transmission fluid out on one of those hills. I had this happen on an overload station wagon. Tail low rounded out the bottom of the seal. Are you tail low?

Google Earth has an elevation feature. Set a route and right-click on the blue line. Looks like this. https://i.imgur.com/Bvf1SDyl.png

RE: Fridge cooling unit forming crystals-help!

Sitting for that length of time, I would get a residential fridge and an inverter to run it for the one month a year on the road.

The "rule of thumb" is 100 watts per 100 AH of battery.

RE: Cammpground Rant

AutoCamp closed a campground that was around for 60 years, cleared it out and brought in new Airstreams. “These are high end, experiential outdoor locations,” Cox said of AutoCamp’s other campsites. I didn't even know experiential was a word. Back on topic, I wouldn't worry about the recent surge in the number of people RVing. Most of them bought within the last couple of years because they saw a show on the Travel Channel and will discover that it's too much work and sell their 2 year old coach at a loss.

RE: Dealer never put TITLE in my name, am I stuck??

I was going to ask "Who takes possession of a vehicle without getting a title" when I remembered that I did. We bought a car that was on a dealer's lot but actually owned by a leasing company (it was leased to the Secret Service for a presidential visit). I went to pick up the vehicle and they said the title would be in the next day. I left the vehicle at the dealer and went back the next day - no title. I said I would be canceling the deal and taking back the trade in. The trouble was, they had sold the trade in. So I said "give me a dealer plate or I'm calling the AG". It took a month to get the title and they kept calling me asking for their dealer plate back. No title, no plate. Basically, they sold a car they didn't own. I probably could have owned the dealership if I pushed it.

RE: Well George is home!

Airdaile. I guess I was too excited and didn’t mention this. The MH has front and rear Hellwig sway bars, front and rear sumo springs. 2 year old Michelin’s all around (checked and they were at 100psi still need to weigh), KYB shocks all around and a BlueOx TrueCenter steering Damper. The steering has alot of slop in the wheel. Feels just like my Excursion did when I bought it. I know this is built on a truck chassis but something is not right. So this week I will start with checking the alignment. Well, that's not the Cheap Handling Fix :) I would say with all that suspension work done by the previous owner, the handling has been a problem before you got it.
