RE: Change to Lithium-ion?

In addition to the cost, you really need some kind of battery management system on LiFePOs. The voltage doesn't just trail off like wet cells. I've read RV bloggers that went over to lithiums and they spend a good part of their leisure time tracking exactly how many amp hours they've used so they know when to start charging. Not my idea of fun, so when it came to battery time, I went with the tried and true GC2s.

RE: 2017 Honda CR-V flat towable?

This is a 'repost'. I posted it a couple days ago but, for some reason, it never showed was listed. So, can any one tell me if the 2017 CR-V is flat towable. I know some of the newer ones are not but can't locate info re: the 2017. Thanks! Maybe because you posted it in the wrong forum.

RE: baltimore to cape cod

That section of I-95 from New Haven to the CT line is all 2 lane road. When a truck tries to pass another, it backs up for miles. In addition, you never know what CT drivers are going to do because apparently a requirement to get a license there is the ability to read minds.

RE: 2018 TT has been deemed Total Loss by insurance company

“We had a city water hook up and it ran for hours while we slept.” EXACTLY why I use the fresh water tank, using city water ONLY to refill the tank. Not sure how this would have helped. If the OP couldn't hear the water running, chances are they would not have heard the water pump either.

RE: How to add photos to forum posts

And kknowlton is correct. You should use a secure connection.

RE: Use a solar controller as a DC to DC charger?

The Trik-l-Start is great--but it won't do what the OP wants. I have one of these. While I use it to charge the chassis batteries from the solar charged house batteries, I don't see why you couldn't reverse the connections to charge the house from the alternator charged chassis.

Too bad they're not as aggressively enforcing the left lane for passing law.

RE: Sub 35 foot Well Built Motorhome?

How are the Thor Palazzo coaches? I have heard mixed reviews but curious if anyone has any real world experience. There is a Thor forum over on iRV2. Probably the best place to get some real world answers. Thor is generally considered to be at the low end.

RE: Hose question........

Fresh water - a minimum of 50 feet. You should do 2 - 25 footers. Just get a regular garden hose for the black tank flush, although Camco has a pretty orange one for that. Rhino has a 20 foot kit that is 2 - 10 footers and the ends. Standard Rhino cheaped out when Camco came out with Rhino Extreme.

RE: Teddy Roosevelt N.P.

We stayed at the south campground, Cottonwood, about 10 days ago. No hookups, but a really nice park. I guess they completed the work on the entrance roadway then?

RE: Marine/RV Battery

I am curious as what makes two 6 volt golf cart batteries better than one 12 volt battery? I may need to replace my 5th wheel 12 volt battery and want to know what the benefit is of the two 6 volt batteries? Thanks! Dave The cells are thicker and can take more discharge cycles. 1 12 volt marine/RV deep cycle (deep cycle being mostly a marketing term in this case) will get you about 105 aH or power or a reserve capacity of 140 minutes. 2 6 volt true deep cycle batteries gets you 225 aH or power and about 220 minutes reserve capacity.

RE: Battery Questions

The only number you need to look at is the reserve capacity. That's how many minutes it takes to discharge a fully charged battery at 20 amps per hour. Whether it's worth another $22, it depends on how you plan to use you camper. If you're plugged in most of the time, either battery will do. If you plan to do extensive boondocking, neither battery will do.
