RE: 3500 truck towing HT 5th wheel - Workable?

That 3500 will pull your house off of the foundation if you have enough chain. Limit your search to GVW under 14,000 pounds and have fun.

RE: 50amp surge protector ?

Also P.I. I had a mechanical failure in the output socket on the first one I bought (after about 10 months) and P.I. replaced the entire unit with a new one in about three days. Outstanding service. A

RE: RV reviews.

Google is your friend. Search "forest river rv owner's forums" for instance and follow the hits.

RE: 50 amp outlet

I know an EMS is expensive, but my Progressive is the best investment I have made yet in protection for a VERY expensive RV.

RE: Fold up stairs blocking door

Pins with locking clips (like the ones that hold a hitch to the rails) might work. You might want to add some kind of gussets to the bolt hole areas to stiffen the mounting.

RE: Michelin tire question

I do NOT buy tires with the assumption that the manufacturer is going to have to pay damages.

RE: 2nd AC unit worth it?

Replacing the Magic Fan with the smallest non-ducted unit available is the only way to cool the bedroom of a 35' Titanium. The duct above the bathroom ceiling (the only feed to the bedroom) is 2" tall by 7" wide. No way! Last July we came back from Yosemite across Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. Without the second air we would have had to sleep on the (comfortable for only small children) sleeper sofa to get the LR air.

RE: FL to Yellowstone 10 weeks out west what to do?

I'm getting in this late, but while in the Yellowstone area (one of the world's truly great places) don't miss Dinosaur. Plan 2 nights at Vernal.

RE: Cat Scale Results

In some instances the GVWR is edited by the manufacturer to keep the truck within certain registration limits (in states where tags are priced by weight).

RE: Converter Replacement

The Progressive Dynamics 80 will handle whatever you put n it and has the charge wizard battery protection. $300 at CW and probably less at E-Trailer and/or Amazon.

RE: Would you pay a welder to reinforce your 5th?

fj12, There is a huge amount of design goes into the frames. Then the manufacturer sets the cost limit of how much of it they are willing to pay for. The "acceptable" failure rate is not set by the engineers and the ultimate design is reduced as long as basic life-safety standards are maintained. Money talks! (What weight WF beam are you running for that 40' span?)

RE: slideout cable system vs

We have the BAL Accuslide cable system on out bedroom slide (the other two are big ones and use rack and pinion). After ten years and lots of trips in and out there has been only one problem and that was when the tip (mushroom) pulled off of one cable. The slide continued to work. I found replacement cable sets on Amazon and fixed it myself using 1/8" cable clamps instead of the supplied crimp anchors. I carry a spare cable, but don't really think I'll ever need it. The one that failed seems to have just been within the 1% manufacturing error rate. A

RE: Would you pay a welder to reinforce your 5th?

Lippert frames are NOT "bound to crack". If they were there would be no fivers on the road. That kind of Bull doesn't help anybody. I would have the welder also consider adding gussets to the spring hanger brackets on the frame. That is one thing my son (a certified welder) did for me years ago.

RE: Sewer hose support question

If you use rain gutter for sewer support while on the road; then when at home or in storage you can invert it and slip it over your awning to protect the fabric. A (After reading that::: I would hose it out good first.)
