RE: Lance 865 vs 855

I would go to the Lance site and download brochures for both year models, http://www.lancecamper.com/owner-support/ There's a lot of differences between the two. Construction wise brochures dont give a lot of detail. Seem similar but 500# difference of base weight even subtracting amenities (half the holding tank capacities, single lpg tank, narrower width etc.) I would assume some of that has to be in lighter weight construction.

RE: Front Camper Bumpers

Yes there is structure behind in the corners. So bumpers (for needed Stablecamper storage room) could be mounted to the strips as long as screws reach structure. Id caution about drilling for the center storage bracket, Drill no deeper that absolutely necessary. I assume your camper, like most, that water tank is on the other side of that front wall. Though likley a gap between tank and wall, drilling a hole in tank has happened more than once. Myself I'd open the tank box lid and verify.

RE: RecPro RV A/C

The RecPro, includes a wall caddy for remote, the ceiling unit also has 'touch' panel as CYCLEPATH instructions show. https://i.imgur.com/gK0Km7l.jpg "The AC unit has several functions, including cooling, dehumidifying, fan, auto, clock and timer, sleep, and lock. These can be accessed from the remote control mainly, however, the inner plenum unit has a touch screen display for using the basic AC features. " https://i.imgur.com/tjtqz6p.jpg "The remote that is included with the model allows you to control the temperature and settings of the unit from the comfort of your couch. Are you worried that you'll lose it? We've thought of that, too. Along with the remote is a wall carrier for the remote. Simply place it in an easy to reach location and rest the remote in it. The digital display on the inner plenum unit of the air conditioner allows you to control it without the remote as well, just in case you really do lose the remote."

RE: Carrying a Small Motorcycle?

MC on front dual receiver would be a lot safer than at end of 48" extension. Also out of the way for rear access. 2 days before you leave though... https://i.postimg.cc/YSywP3Gc/0406-AD8-B-7749-472-D-A19-D-96149-FF57-F4-C.jpg width=640 Few ways, with all in the downward rotation, welding may stop pivoting. But you'd want to ensure there in position to easily slide in rack. Cleaning for welding with them mounted be a pain. Could add another bolt in close fit holes to the angle/tube. Even thru the flat plate or both sides. Drilling while mounted again would painful. Or could utilize existing frame holes on other side and 'pivot' bolt and add a piece of flat bar. https://i.postimg.cc/Qt2Z8dJ0/12-DB20-D0-8-BDC-4-A6-C-890-C-1-F97-A9-F299-B7.jpg width=640 Lastly maybe remove rear bolt, insert/drive a very tight fitting tube/pipe between tube walls so when bolt reinserted you can tighten the heck out of it with out tube wall yielding. If the holes thru tube are considerably larger than bolts, (only way I can see the pivoting action) could increase bolt size.

RE: RE: Front hitch

I believe most front hitches are rated @ vertical load of 500 lbs, line pull ~9000 lbs.

RE: Ram 3500 truck bed

https://i.imgur.com/zk9kgOt.jpg Found this... Well the ribs in bed are a bit away from where campers perimeter might sit..at least beside the wheel well. But I really don't think outer edge of camper unsupported that distance beside wheel well would be an issue.

RE: Heavy duty hitch extension??

Noted OP says not really interested in product, but question about if Automated Safety Hitch still available prompted me to send email and ask. Below is note I received from them. { sales/safetyhitch.com We have been in business delivering Automated Safety Hitch since August, 2008 without interruption. Presently we are delivering 22 per month, soon to be 44 then 66 or 88 per month. We expect to have ten production lines, (two shifts), open by years end with each production line producing an average 22 per month. We are signing on dealers so that nobody in North America will have to travel more than 150 miles to see one and experience riding in a demonstration. Thank you for asking, Michele }

RE: Happijacs, what will happen if.........

I look at it as weight transfer, front jacks already carry a lot more than rear. As the rear jacks are raised some of their weight/load moves to front. IE not paying attention I can easily raise one rear jack off the ground- To a degree yes the fronts are at fulcrum point and the higher rear is the closer they get. Also they are mounted to camper at 90°, feet, front & rear are fixed to ground so as you raise as mentioned and load becomes less vertical thru legs (tube) is when tube failure more likely. Even with front jacks fully collapsed and rears full extended I doubt you could topple over on its nose, though mostly because either the jacks would buckle or mounts fail first. Be interesting on camper destined for recycle to test some of these failure scenarios to see what really happens. But not on mine, going up/down nose is always higher till it contacts bed of truck.

RE: toilet water valve

Basically a one way valve. The purpose is to keep contaminated water from potentially back flowing into source, however unlikely. https://www.thetford.com/parts/rv-toilets/ Identify toilet model and parts (some toilets VB/flush valve are separate, some are combined in one unit-) then search on-line for parts. I would not leave toilet connected to water source if I knew valve wasn't functioning or disabled.

RE: What is a “converter”?

Yes as others have described converts AC to DC, regulates charge to batteries. Generally also serves as distribution point for AC and DC lines. Where AC breakers and DC fuses located. https://photos.smugmug.com/Base/Mics/i-wG2bw42/0/bfe9918c/O/cvd3.jpg

RE: Smelling propane

You have an Atwood water heater Your Flame is burning Fuel Rich...not enough air Clean burner/orifice/burner tube **Disassemble burner tube (clean with small bottle brush), remove orifice (soak in alcohol the air dry----NO high pressure air or poking anything thru it), combustion/exhaust tube (run wire thru then tie rag to end of wire and pull back thru...chimney sweep) Reassemble.....fire up water heater Adjust 'air shutter' so flame is BLUE with slight roar Adjust shutterAt 1 min in-shows adjusting the air shutter which if closed would cause to burn rich.

RE: Eagle Cap quality control continues to disappoint

Yes, heater is missing a duct collar to connect hose. They just spin on into the heater hole. From here it looks like the hose is way too short to connect but the way its ripped appears it once was connected to something. Possibly another piece, ext or ell? The pics dont give me the impression it left factory like this.. I dont know if duct collars are brand specific (dometic/suburban) but are available. With no hose seems most of the air would come out that open port. http://i.imgur.com/F7olvfZm.jpg width=300http://i.imgur.com/af53UMYm.jpg width=300

RE: Photos of my Eagle Cap 811

Yea!...noted your pics on other thread. Just need to resize, they are huge 'width=640'. 640 is forum recommended standard, 800 is max size. Imgur doesn't have select able sizes to display so have to manually insert {img}https://i.imgur.com/Fd6afFy.jpg width=640{/img}

RE: BradW's photo links on the Truck Camper Forum

Losing a picture hosting site and association with past posts with no way easy way to recover is tragic. The amount of shared info that has been lost cannot be replaced. Did you start an account on flickr or free trail? I'm currently using smugmug which is 7 monthly or 55 annually, no free accounts. I have duplicate free account with Imgur. Both of these mirror original photobucket account, which most have heard that story. Fortunately photobucket changed thier policy and older pictures at least show, likely temporary (unless like many account was deleted in response to pb fiasco). I look at thier attempt to regain trust like someone jumping off a cliff and trying to swim back to the ledge. Thankful old photos show but do not use to post new pictures. Some of my older posts where thread wasn't locked Ive update urls- older locked threads show until photobucket closes. Flickr (which now owned by Smugmug, acquired financially troubled Flickr awhile back) is 7 monthly or 60 annually. They surprisingly still offer free hosting service. Either service offers trial period to check features which are simular. One of the things that attracted me to smugmug is part of the url contains original file name, easier to relocate. Seems easier to get different share links, though bbcode copy/pastes picture, its also makes it clickable to album so usually strip out url string. Issue obviously is on forum posts if host site is changed (site closes) the linked photo url needs to be changed. On older locked threads that's impossible, and threads that are not locked, it to say the least painful to update the picture urls. https://help.flickr.com/pricing-faq-r1qHsTEbU https://www.smugmug.com/plans
