RE: These are a few mods I have done

The next mod is adding a back splash behind the stove. My model didn't have one due to "cost cutting" reasons. This mod was mostly done by my wife. Sticky back "tile" and I don't mix well. The sticky tile is Art3d from Amazon. The first pic is a before shot. https://i.imgur.com/1Ce7csvl.jpg This pic is the 1st row applied. https://i.imgur.com/vmx8r9jl.jpg Measuring the next row. https://i.imgur.com/eKZqTPIl.jpg Finished product. https://i.imgur.com/koYUpMRl.jpg

RE: These are a few mods I have done

My next modification was reclaiming lost storage space under one of the dinette seats. Early models of my floor plan had a cabinet door allowing use of the end of the dinette seat. Later models took this away. I didn't add a cabinet door, but I still reclaimed the space for storing some sleeping bags. This fist pic is the bench seat with cover off. At one end is the water pump. At the other is wasted storage. https://i.imgur.com/CNJTLN7l.jpg Added support under the seat. https://i.imgur.com/WxjTlFyl.jpg Partition in place. https://i.imgur.com/x819sail.jpg Bench seat board cut in half. https://i.imgur.com/nOIEuAOl.jpg Wire for "hard wired" propane detector was just running across the floor loose. I duct taped them to the side. The Styrofoam pieces are covering the protruding detector mounting screws. https://i.imgur.com/dN3hextl.jpg Finished split seat board. https://i.imgur.com/qWDKgttl.jpg Cushions in place. https://i.imgur.com/Kd0xaeLl.jpg

RE: These are a few mods I have done

This mod is replacing the dealer supplied Grp 24 12V battery for a pair of GC2 210 amp/hour batteries from Sam's Club. I bought the double Grp 24/GC-2 battery box from Amazon. https://i.imgur.com/RLT5LgWl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/qADlHKBl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/RPpNPExl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/6ZabqKzl.jpg

These are a few mods I have done

The first is my usual analog thermostat change out. To me, those things are useless. Since this new trailer has a 2 wire, heat only thermostat, I got a Honeywell PRO 1000 Heat Only residential style thermostat. https://i.imgur.com/Ro6fUP3l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/5B59Ex5l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/xb401ASl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/e3JZaxXl.jpg

RE: Sharp reverse turn with Equl-i-zer hitch?

I do a 90 degree turn backing from the subdivision street to my driveway. Haven't had any problems with the Equal-i-zer when doing so.

RE: Vortex II fans

Not knowing anything, what are PWM's? And how do you install reversing switches? I bought the cheaper single speed Vortex fan and added PWMs and reversing switches. Now I have full speed control in both directions without wasting energy like the resistors in the Vortex II.

Vortex II fans

Getting a new TT Monday. It, like most TT's comes with a weak, under powered fan that would be hard pressed to blow out a candle. In other trailers I've purchased, I have a Fantastic fan installed in it's place. This time I'm thinking of putting in a Vortec II fan myself. I know it's not a Fantastic fan or Maxx air fan, but will the Vortec II move enough air to be worth while?

RE: What's a good MSRP discount in today's market?

Signed the contract for this trailer yesterday. Scheduled to pick it up Monday. I'm satisfied with the price I got, so I'm good at this point. Ended up, I liked this floor plan too much, and couldn't wait 4 to 6 months to get an ordered one. First, thanks to all the replies. Now slightly related question. The floor plan I want is a 24.5' long Coachman Freedom Express 20SE. It's the exact floor plan as the now discontinued Ultra Lite 204RD. Coachmen and stripped some stuff, and will present it at a lower price point. Thing is, it's not to be shipped for several more months. This dealer said he had one because Coachmen built a "prototype" ahead of schedule for use at a regional Super Show. At least that was the story told to me. In any case, it's the only one I can find anywhere. From the "original" price I can get it for 24% under that price, OTD, excluding state tax. otd excluding tax is not "out the door" in texas.

What's a good MSRP discount in today's market?

With the hot market for trailers and other RV's, what kind of discount can be expected now? 35%, 30%. 25%.

RE: Coachmen Freedom Express Travel Trailers

What are the irritating items? It's an Elkhart built trailer. I have a 2018 FE. Haven't run into any major issues, but several irritating items requiring repair. Biggest one criticism I have, china bomb tires, and I just put GY Endurance on mine... only to be sold this summer/fall

RE: Coachmen Freedom Express Travel Trailers

Well, I guess that will just be another negotiating point. I want GY Endurance tires. At least Coachmen puts D rated tired on their Freedom Express trailers, rather than C rated ones.

RE: Coachmen Freedom Express Travel Trailers

What tires is Coachmen putting on its trailers now? Goodyear Endurance? I researched all the manufactures and decided on a Coachmen because of the aluminum framing, Azdel and construction methods. I then looked at the different models until I found one that met my weight, length and price requirements. Everyone I know that owns a Coachmen is satisfied with the quality of the construction. Of course there are issues with various other things but at least I'll be able to replace those things. Its hard to replace the actual structure!

Coachmen Freedom Express Travel Trailers

Are these trailers good, okay, or to be run from? I found a floor plan that I really like, a used 2018 204RD or a new 2021 20SE which is the same as the 204RD except it has some items stripped out in order to lower the price point.
