RE: BlueTooth ear buds and phone on airplane mode...?

Interesting. My iPhone, when put in airplane mode, does not turn off Bluetooth.

RE: Roadtrip by car vs RV, a couple of thoughts...

For those retired or unlimited time available, RVs certainly are generally preferable for trips short and long. For those still working, then RVs are great for shorter trips, or longer trips if available vacation days allow. But for those on limited days available and a desire to visit distant areas, then air and hotel makes more sense. Or maybe car and hotel if reachable in 2 long days. 3-4 days to reach a destination by RV and 3-4 days to return when you only have 10 days to 2 weeks open leaves little time to enjoy that destination. We always based our travel method on distance and available time before retirement, and many times afterward. And always enjoyed both. Never tried to justify costs of one over the other for any given trip.

RE: cabin rentals? Eastern PA

Googling Delaware River cabins brings up a number of places with cabins. You would have to check each to see if they are open.
VRBO is also an option.

RE: CB radios - Do you use one?

"....If you are in a caravan, you can use apps that let you set up a multi-party conference call group...."
Just like everybody in the caravan being on the same CB channel, eh? :h
Yeah, but no one outside the caravan group getting in.

RE: CB radios - Do you use one?

WAZE, Google maps and others and even my Ford GPS will warn of traffic issues ahead and recommend alternate routes if possible if you input a destination before you start.
Been years since I used a CB radio. Would rather listen to Willie’s Roadhouse than all that inane chatter on 19. Traveling with others it could be useful.

RE: San Antonio

Been a number of years, but we stayed at Travelers World and would again. The street it is on goes straight into downtown and easy access parking for the Riverwalk. Or there is (or at last was) a bus stop right in front of the RV park if you prefer not to drive downtown.
But if you are arriving on I-37, do not take E Southcross Blvd. There is a rail crossing with a steep up and down over the tracks and likely cause a dragging rear end on that 5er. Take SE Military Drive from I-37 instead. No problem there.

RE: Then what?

The ultimate solution?? Just put a wind powered turbine generator on the roof. Presto! Continuous free charging while you drive. And when you park, park headed into the wind. Again, free charging while parked. :B :B

RE: Then what?

EVs have improved greatly over the years. And will continue so with new technological advances. So, yes, sometime in the not too distant future ICE engines, for the most part, will become dinosaurs. Maybe not in time for us older RVers, but certainly for you younger ones.

RE: Overloaded or wrong truck?

Looking at it from a physics standpoint. With a lot of rear overhang and a lot of front overhang, simply driving down the highway will cause a "rocking" front to rear of that weight, centered over the rear axle. That would cause the frame to bend slightly up and down in the middle with every "rock". But even slightly over a period of years will cause metal fatigue, and eventual weakness. And enough and it will finally break.
That is not the first picture posted of trucks with large campers breaking in half like that. Would be interesting to know how many miles it had on it lugging that camper around.

Google RV heated floors. Lots of info on it including electric vs hydronic, solar powered, and do it yourself options.

RE: Have just lost Goof, my 13 year old Aussum Shepherd.

Cremation is the answer. You can keep the ashes, spread them in a favorite place, or take them back home when you return.
We have had several cremated and then buried in a small “cemetery” in our acre back yard with small engraved stone markers. Our Goldens would take a large home. But the ashes are easily managed.

RE: Insert pins

All the ones I have ever used had the groove around the pin and never had one come loose or come off after many miles of towing various trailers.

RE: trying to winterize without pump

Do I understand right that you ran a hose from the antifreeze jug to the pump inlet connection? Assuming the pump is good that should work if you have a good tight hose connection at the pump. Slightest air leak will stop the pump from pulling liquid in.
Or buy an RV winterizing hand pump. Google it.

RE: RV park "STANDARDS"

Part of the problem is people have champaign taste on a beer budget. Expectations do not meet reality. What is it that turns you off to a campground? What makes a campground unacceptable to you? Is it for a 2 week/2 month stay or an overnight stay? I've run the gamut of put your money in the slot in the door CG to the high end resort CG. All depends on what my needs are at the time. I have never been in any CG that I have felt unsafe in and wanted to leave. I've had the neighbors from that hot place that I had to tolerate until THEY left. I've had some of the most wonderful people as neighbors too and have had great times around the campfire with them and that reflects MOST of my experiences, the good ones. It would take a lot of negative issues to turn me off on any campground.
Well said.

RE: Can’t remove AC cover for maintenance

With all the screws out but the one can you raise the cover enough to reach inside and hold the inside “nut” with pliers or vice grips? I’m guessing it is some kind of press nut.
