RE: Airxcel Skymaxx 97000

Received my new skymaxx hatch. I have installed the parts from the new one to the skymaxx on my Host. Fourteen months to finally get it fixed. Pins on the bar handle that hold it open or locked closed and broken hinges on the handle assembly. I jury rigged it closed with bungee cords. It was really disheartening for us to have our new camper with this defect and to have to deal with it so long. Skymaxx will not sell parts to anyone, only the whole assembly. I wanted no parts of disturbing the roof seal on our new camper to replace with a new skymaxx. Artic Tern looks like a nice replacement. If anyone is purchasing a new host, please do not get the the skymaxx hatch. It is cheaply made and parts cannot be purchased. Thanks for letting me vent and I hope I've helped someone. Barry

RE: Airxcel Skymaxx 97000

Just got a reply from the service manager that Tom's Camperland will be sending me a replacement hatch. I'm glad to finally have some good news. They used my conversations with them from last year. I didn't ask why so long, just glad to be headed in the right direction. Thanks for everyone's reply. Barry

RE: Airxcel Skymaxx 97000

No accident. It was broke the first day of ownership. I just did not catch it till we were heading for home from Tom's camperland where I purchased it from. For a whole year the parts Dept gave me the run around. Now I'm past warranty. I will never replace it with another airmax product. It is a real shame the company want sell parts needed for repair. I just thought I'd ask here before ordering a replacement hatch. It will be an arctic tern if I can't find parts. Barry

Airxcel Skymaxx 97000

I have a 2022 host cascade tc with the over the bed hatch. Does anyone here have or know of one for parts. I need the two hinges that attach the bar to the vent top. Mfg will only sell me a whole vent. Hoping I might get lucky for parts. If not I will be installing an arctic tern. Thanks everyone. Barry

Weather wasn't always sunny. We had a couple of days with 25 - 30 mph and rain. Helps YOU appreciated the nice weather days. Hoping my pictures post. It's a toss up using photobucket. It's the easiest for me to post pictures when it cooperates. Barry *Resized by adding width=640 to the image

RE: Beach trip

Thanks for the advice, it's a lot of work when I get home. Sand finds its way to every hidden area. I put an oscillating sprinkler under the belly and move it a couple feet till I feel it is cleaned. Takes three hours or so. It's the same amount of work for two nights or 14. I stayed 14 nights, can't wait for the next adventure. My truck is an 06, it has been on the beach every year. I had the under carriage undercoated before this trip. It is the second time since new. Trying my best to care of my equipment. Barry

RE: Beach trip

Jerry, we fish from the surf. I enjoy it much more than in a boat. The bite was a little slow but that's ok, it's not all about the catching. We had plenty to keep us fed. Nothing compares to cooking your catch with sand between your toes. Barry

RE: The Ghost

Thank you Joe, I really appreciate you fixing my pictures. You would think that as old as I am I could post a simple picture. Thanks again Barry

The Ghost

https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/y227/sharkbait1/IMG_20220817_123138627.jpg width=640 The Ghost made its first trip to beach on hatteras island. We learned a lot about our new set up while there. https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/y227/sharkbait1/IMG_20220818_144420333.jpg width=640 We were finally able to get our winegard router up and running while on this trip. It took a long time to get our SIM card from Verizon. https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/y227/sharkbait1/IMG_20220818_144542631.jpg width=640 Maggie, our English shepherd made her first trip and had a great time. https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/y227/sharkbait1/IMG_20220818_144524160.jpg width=640 We stayed at capepoint campground, they have a dump station and no other services. The Ghost was right at home with only the sun and 60% fresh water. I hope the pics uploaded, I've had trouble with photobucket lately. What do you all think of the name for our new Host? Barry

RE: Delays in camper buiddate

Hey Warren, today is the day. Send us some pictures of your new truck and Everest. We know how excited you are for your new camper. Barry

RE: Delays in camper buiddate

Congratulations on your new Everest. You will love it. I will advise you to do a detailed walk thru. I had three small issues, bathroom door, privacy curtain, hatch over bed. These were all exposed the first day of ownership. I have emailed and called since we returned home. I have yet to receive parts for repairs. So frustrating to spend the money we did to get the run around for such small issues. I'm happy with our camper, just not the warranty service. Take care Barry

RE: Where have all the Everests Gone

Warren, I know by now you are past ready to get your camper. I was like you watching all the Host YouTube videos I could find. We are enjoying our Cascade and we have no regrets for the long wait. You will enjoy your Everest when you finally get it and the long wait will be a thing of the past. Barry
