RE: Pros and Cons of owning a class A RV

The heated arguments comparing costs are a red herring. The OP never asked which was cheaper. People have a budget for an RV. Pick your reasonable price point. You can find a suitable class A and toad combo for the price of a fiver and a truck. We happen to like the view in a class A and being able to use the head easily. We like driving a smaller car instead of a dually monster truck when I get there. I

RE: Pros and Cons of owning a class A RV

You are correct. Cost isn’t a factor to me. I can. I can make either choice fit my budget. I’ve had long pickups and Suburbans and I don’t want to drive a big hard to park truck at flea markets and restaurants etc. I enjoy driving a nimble decent mileage SUV.

RE: wilson electronics 4G-X RV cellular signal booster

They must have improved the design. My new Weboost RV advertises 4-10’ range and it works fine 10’ away. My DW works on her laptop uploading and downloading pix all day 10’ away.

RE: diesel prices along I40

I’m not sure I’m following the arithmetic. How many miles a year do you drive that 20 cents a gallon can save $6000 or even $600?

RE: wilson electronics 4G-X RV cellular signal booster

I have a WeBoost system on my house which is in a very rural area and it drastically improves reception. I also have a steel shop where I had no reception. I did not want to spend $500 for another WeBoost so I took a chance on a $50 unit on ebay. I really can't tell much difference in the $500 unit in the house and the $50 unit in my shop. I am not saying the WeBoost is not better, just saying in my case there is not much difference. I just was not willing to accept that Wilson/WeBoost is the only company with the technology to boost a phone signal. Could we get some before / after speed test or dB numbers? Does it have an amp or is it an antenna?

RE: wilson electronics 4G-X RV cellular signal booster

I bought one at the beginning our our three month trip. I would absolutely buy it again. I have an ATT based WiFi puck and two Verizon iPhone 8’s. To answer your question, I can give you a firm maybe. There are many factors besides signal strength. Many “Unlimited” plans aren’t really unlimited; they will throttle you at certain data levels or cell tower traffic so strength isn’t always the challenge. Where I’m at now, I was seeing 15-20 mbs data rates then it slowed down until evening. It happened almost daily. So I bought the OTR.com unlimited ATT puck. No throttling or caps or contract, $60/mo. Back to the Weboost. It ALWAYS has improved data speed so far even when I have four bars. Where it REALLY shines is when you have a poor, weak slow connection. I have several times had speeds so slow Facebook wouldn’t load. Setup the Weboost and get 5-10 MBs or better. Fast enough for streaming HD. Totally repeatable. Plug it in and your good, unplug it and it’s .5 MBs. I would totally buy again.

RE: shutting down generator with air conditioner running

I ALWAYS turn the acs off with the thermostat. When you start the genset your ATS delays switching over until the genset is stable. I leave my genset running when fueling just like the millions of reefer trucks do.

RE: Financing question

Check out Dave Ramsey’s website and checkout some of his advice and perhaps consider one of his approved advisors. You should be able to meet or beat the S&P average. Morgan Stanley is selling you their junk.

Progressive had new glass shipped to a local approved place the next day. Nary cost a Nickel.

Stabbing in the dark but maybe a sticky valve? Get a spray can of Seafoam and follow the directions.

RE: A question about wifi amps and receivers

Most public WiFi service sucks even when you’re standing next to the source so adding an antenna and amp won’t help. I went with a Weboost RV antenna/amp which boosts all cell systems and added a OTRmobile ATT puck and we have Verizon iPhones. Between the three, I can usually get acceptable speeds in the 3-10 MBs range. Sometime faster.

RE: Ohio Amish country in September Favorite things to do

Boyd Worthmans has 10-15 varieties of fresh pies every day. They have a big chalkboard they write them on then cross them off as they sell out but I have never seen shoo fly.

Remembered a few more. Zoar Village. If you liked Shawshank Redemption, it was filmed in and around Mansfield about an hour away. There is a Shawshank Trail to see scenes and sets including the Reformatory which has tours.

RE: Ohio Amish country in September Favorite things to do

Lehman’s Hardware in Kidron. Mt Hope Auction. Wed or any day. Mrs Yoders Kitchen in Mt Hope. Hot roast beef sandwich at Boyd and Worthman in Berlin. Warther Museum in Dover. Roundhouse Train Museum in Sugar creek. Roscoe Village in Coshocton. Winesburg Meats for smoked chops, bologna. Etc. Hershbergers Farm and Bakery in Charm. Keim Lumber in Charm if you’re a woodworker. The scenery is stunning. Drive around Doughty Valley towards Baltic. Charm Valley too. There are some really cool cemeteries if you like visiting cemeteries.

RE: Ocala National Forest RV campgrounds and Jeep Trails

I’ve read that on other posts. What’s the problem with camping close to home? We camp close to home often.

RE: RV Service and Repair??????????????

That smell was probably ammonia. If so, you will need a new unit. You need a new Amish built cooling unit.

Salt Springs is FHU. Wilderness RV Park is good. Check Ocala Jeep Club. They organize outings randomly.
