RE: lost my co pilot

Please accept my sympathies. I lost my better half 6 years ago to cancer and I'm now a survivor myself. It is different now but I'm leaving for 3 weeks camping on Tuesday.

RE: Anyone interested in 83 Pace Arrow Tear down and Rebuild?

Go for it! I will patiently wait for the construction to hit the interior. After the discussions and drawing changes, I think it will work just fine.

RE: Motorcycle Lift on Rear Rad

Had an Overbilt lift on the back of my Phaeton. It handled my Harleys just fine, either the Road King or Fatboy. Occasionally, I would get a bit of oil film on the engine but a quick wash would clean the bike up. Grreat way to bring your mc with you as the Overbilt is also set up to tow a toad.

RE: Anyone interested in 83 Pace Arrow Tear down and Rebuild?

I'm using a trailer that has a murphy in the front that comes down over the couch which folds flat for clearance. I have not used it enough for a solid answer yet but... It is not inconvenient to use and still allows me a couch for daytime seating. It does not take long to set up for use. It uses about 15 inches of space against the front wall but uses a thin mattress which I had to add a foam topper to it to be comfortable sleeping on it. In your drawing, it would likely wind up behind the drivers seat assuming a window on the passenger side. I'm not sure how much it would extend into the floor from that area likely will be over 3 feet. Bill

RE: RV Parks charging for water use?

At Rock Crusher (a Sun park) the only sites with water meters are the annuals. But the anticipated rate increase for next year is 3 to 5 %. The early water bills I've heard are between $6 and $10.

RE: Anyone interested in 83 Pace Arrow Tear down and Rebuild?

Looking forward to seeing the interior take shape. You had put a lot of thought into what goes where and I thought things looked pretty good. Of course I understand changes. Many years ago, I bought a 10 foot camper shell and built the interior. No where near your project but a heck of a lot of fun at the time.

RE: How much snow....?

Way back when, I had a Newmar fifth that stayed north during the winter. We had some big snows that left near 4 foot of snow on the roof. Called Newmar and talked to one of their engineers who advised that that quantity would not be a problem except for the roof vents, particularly when melting started. Went out and shoveled the roof and felt tired but better. Now, being retired, i've found that it very rarely snows here in Florida.

RE: Possible to have a 3500 Dually Truck as a TOAD vehicle?

Can be done with the right hitch rated motorhome. Rampage lift will put the bike in the truck with ease.

RE: Traded in 5th wheel for couples TT

I made a similar change, with a twist. I had lost my wife and was finding the 40 foot motorhome a bit too much. In wandering a Florida dealers' lot found a nice 34 foot fifth with all that I wanted at a reasonable price. The deal developed to include summer storage and delivery to my site. perfect! I went back home, sold the motorhome and found a nice 25 foot floorplan that suited my needs. Deal done and I have a nice rig for the state parks of northern NY and my snowbird rig in Florida.

RE: Paying For Water

It's apparently a Sun thing. The letters are currently going out to the annual sites here at Rock Crusher advising that the meters will be going in. At the moment, it's only long term sites that will be metered. I'm a snowbird and my four month stay will not be metered at this time. There is aalso talk of metered electric on the way, which I expect will include my site. In talking to the folks in the office, it's apparent the park has an enormous water bill they are trying to mitigate the cost of. There have been rate increases annually since Sun bought the park, generally at 2% or less a year.

RE: Cummins RV Service Kenly, NC

Broke down there several years ago with a radiator that wouldn't hold water. Took awhile to get the parts but their service work on the repairs was top shelf. Besides, I used their hookups while waiting on parts.

RE: Breakowns while travelling

Bought a Dutch Star MH and after getting it the way we wanted, headed south for 3 weeks in Florida. Got into North Carolina and got an overheat warning, Water pouring out of the side radiator. Coachnet got us to Cummins Atlantic in Kenly where diagnosed as needs a radiator, total bottom rotted away. Spent three days there on their hookup and one day in a motel till it got fixed. Went back to a fifth wheel a couple of years later, headed for Florida again and had a rear wheel smoking on 95 in the middle of Georgia. Spent 4 hours on the side of 95 waiting on a service truck and then 3 hours getting in back together with new bearings. Went back to a MH (current rig) headed back north and lost the alternator in Brunswick GA. Got towed to Blackshear GA and spent 2 days waiting on a new alternator. I would avoid Florida so these things don't happen but I'll be darned if I'll spend a winter in northern NY when I can go south.

RE: Anyone interested in 83 Pace Arrow Tear down and Rebuild?

I'm kind of partial to a smooth fiberglass side, maybe in a soft white with a painted stripe or stripes down the side to break up the profile. Does not need to be a brite color nor very wide either.
