RE: potty without the rv

When exploring with my mom, I take a luggable loo along. She's in her 70s, with both knees replaced, so squatting is not going to happen.

RE: No Warranty on your RV? Don't buy new?

I bought new because I could get it set up exactly the way I wanted. Solar instead of a television. 12 volt vent fans. Larger grey tank. Yes, I know I could have bought a used Nash and done modifications. But I work full time and definitely don't need another thing to tinker with. I used the snot out of the trailer that first year, and never did need any repairs. Since then, repairs have been minor things my independant repair shop handles quickly.

RE: Worst RV Brand List

I wouldn't buy a Keystone again, but the problems I had with it were because I was pushing it's limits. It was never made to leave pavement, and I boondock off of dirt roads. I hadn't done enough research before buying the trailer.

RE: Cost of dental work on a small dog?

What a cutie! Her skin should even out with decent, consistent food. And our rescue vet routinely does dental work while doing a spay/neuter, that really cuts down on the bill. Thanks for rescuing her!

RE: Anybody else have trouble packing for camping

My travel trailer has it's own set of stuff. Old towels and bedding that still have some use. A pair of sneakers and flip flops. A sleeping bag. Toothbrush, hair brush, hair ties, and basic toiletries stay out there. Same with pots, pans, and melamine dishes. When I'm heading out, I just pack food and clothes, hitch, and go. I'll make a stop at Fred Meyer on the way out of town if I need anything. Part of the point of having the trailer is that it stays basically ready to go. An hour and a half, and I'm on the road.

RE: Tea Kettle

I take the same tea kettle I use at home. I can't remember how much it cost, because it's at least 10 years old. It holds abt a quart and a half of water, but you don't have to put that much in.

RE: What brands of Travel Trailers are NEW & Quality

I just went through a big snowstorm in my Nash 22h. I cannot say enough good things about that trailer. I stayed warm and comfy, and used surprisingly little propane. It's been trouble free so far.

RE: Best route from Merced Ca to Mesa Az

we use the 58 to needles, 95 down to I-10 and straight on to PHX. They have turned 60 into a pretty good traffic carrier east of I-10. If you just want an overnight parking place, the junction at 58 and 395 has a big parking lot just east of the light on the right. we've stayed there, but it's busy with trucks.. and we've stayed at Barstow at the Flying J which is a mile south of the I 15 and 58 junction. This.

RE: Kitty litter: How do you dispose of it while on the road?

I use the lightweight clumping litter and scoop it daily into the garbage bag. When the garbage is full, it goes into the dumpster.

RE: R.v. Parking close to Pikes Place Fish Market??

Yes, Uber is in Seattle. I lived there for 12 years, and I took public transportation or rode my bike if I could. Parking downtown was awful 15 years ago - it hasn't improved.

RE: Said goodbye to my foster dog

I work with a pit bull rescue. Thank you so much for showing him love and family in his last days. Fostering is hard, and heart breaking, and so very worthwhile.

RE: Weight of trailer and my tow vehicle

Never count on a trailer's dry weight. In the real world, you'll have food, clothes, bedding, camp chairs, grill, battery, propane... loaded in the trailer. While the vehicle will be full of family members and dogs. In my case I add a full tank of water and some solar panels because I boondock. Oh, and a kayak and fishing gear. That 4300# trailer ends up weighing 6000# faster than you'd think. Evaluate any tow vehicle based the fully loaded weight of a trailer.

RE: Idaho

The answer depends a lot on where in the state you want to be. The Sawtooths will be just starting to melt out, although 75 and 21 should be open with no problems. McCall is a little lower and should have some campgrounds open. Southern Idaho, along the Snake river will be fully open and accessible - just be mindful that the dirt desert roads might still be too wet. The campgrounds along Hell's Canyon will be glorious.

RE: Anyone use insect (tick) yard spray before they set up camp?

I use permethrin on my clothes, and dose the dogs with Bravecto. No flea or tick problems, and no killing all of the beneficial insects along with the few problem ones.

RE: Good boon-docking RV with good ground clearance?

I primarily boondock. That's why I went with a Nash travel trailer. Specifically the 22h. No slides. Well built suspension. Good ground clearance.
