RE: Windshield Replacement Recommendations

I would never ever use RV glass solutions! Sent me to a shop and they broke a mirror and trim piece and if I hadn't been watching them we're going to put the screws on the trim back into caulk instead of the clips. I spent another $500 fixing the things they broke. RV glass tried to dun me for my $250 deductible!!

RE: blocks for leveling under jacks and tires

I got some plywood called fin form (sp?) from united rentals. We used it in the fire services for shoring up trenches. Extremely strong. I get a sheet that had a piece cut out of it and cut some pads. Been using them for 10 years now.

RE: 50 AMP and plugging in at home

Dennis, Spot on. In my 34 year career as a firefighter I ran two house fires with RV's plugged into undersized wiring. Burnt up the RV and the house in both cases

RE: Essential Tools or I sure wish I had brought............

I also carry a small compressor. Not for airing up tires, but we had the air compressor on the chassis go out and a friend says you can plug the compressor in and viola power the air brakes! Would have saved us 3 days at the freightliner dealership on a trip.

RE: Turbo leak

Won't hurt the motor at all. It will smoke and be down on power but good to run

RE: fuel trouble

Agree with others. Sounds like your Jake brake is hung in the on position from time to time. The cruise doesn't let off enough to activate it , but you do when you let off the pedal

New Fridge

Well not exactly. Our fridge blew it's boiler in Key west so we bought a little fridge at Sears to carry along. Went to RV cool in Greenbriar AR today and they put one of their units on it. Did an awesome job for $1300. As i type i can hear the cooling fans running on the new unit, never heard them before. They had hundreds of broken or burnt up units sitting around. Could be the best thing i ever bought for our RV. The new equipment as been in about 3 hours and the fridge is freezing ice already. It is a Norcold 1200

RE: Key West question

We have been for the last 7 years. We stay at Boyd's on stock island. Nice campground, but pricey and packed in like sardines. Closest RV park to Key West. Try out Pepe's after 4 for half price oysters and $1.50 yingling draws. Like others have said it's not a cheap place to visit, but it is a lot of fun. Also check out Rick's and a comedian named Yo Adrian! Funny guy!

RE: Motor homes over the years

Based on the only motorhome we've ever owned, I think the only thing thats costs more to maintain is an airplane!

RE: 13 F150 as a toad with a 99 newmar 8.3 Cummins

Same as others here, we tow a 16 dodge 1500 with a Harley in the back. No problems at all. On a side note we did the "ditch" deal to load and unload one winter, and bought a Blue Ox loading system. Much less worry and no ditch needed!

RE: Michelin 22.5 tires

Replaced ours with Hankooks, they ride better and have less side to side movement as you drive, and were over $1000 cheaper than the Michelins. Very happy with them. Free advice is worth what you pay for it!

RE: Motorhome financing

We had that when we financed ours. Got a good rate from them, waited the two years saved up enough cash to pay it off and did on the day after our 2nd year of the loan

RE: 3M film

I got a quote from ugly shield removal and it was $950, he said it took two people all day. He did a tiffin by us in Fort Myers and it looked awesome when he was done! I'm going to get mine done next year, the motor home update for this year will be MCD shades or a new couch.

RE: Either smell in coach

If you think its battery smell, call your local FD and ask them to check it with a 4 gas meter. They can check for Hydrogen sulfide gas which is what the batteries give off and can be hazardous to you.

RE: How Hard Is It To Solo In A Class A?

When in doubt, get out and look. I've driven semi's and straight trucks for years solo. None had back up cameras, just mirrors. When i wasn't sure i got out and looked and never had an issue. Much easier now, with a backup camera. The advantage to having the DW is that she can get out and look!! You'll do fine.

RE: Dish tv

Ok, Bill your spot on. I finally got a hold of a person at Winegard that knew her stuff big time. Two years ago I had the T4 installed after the OEM one became obsolete. When the RV dealer put it in, they made the bedroom TV the primary instead of the LR tv. So trying to program the sat receiver from the LR didn't work. She said to try the bedroom to program it and it worked! So after two weeks of messing around, I finally have all my channels and working great! Appreciate the help from everyone and the suggestions were right, just on the wrong TV!
