RE: Cedar Creek rear cap cracks

We previously had a Jayco Eagle 5th wheel (2008), that had issues arise just out of warranty. I contacted my dealer, who worked with me contacting Jayco directly, and they stood behind their product. The difference is, the issue with Cedar Creek happened while it was new. Manufacturers that stand behind their product line is what keeps people coming back.
Forest River does not stand behind their products as I have personally found out twice, and are the reasons I will not go back. I wish you luck dealing with them. Don't get your hopes up.

RE: RV retail sales drop 31% April year over year.

Interesting to see where the numbers end up if fuel prices remain high.
I predict here.

RE: RV retail sales drop 31% April year over year.

I expect the used market will be flooded this fall !This means New prices will take a serious dive, until current stock is gone, but Used prices will jump with increased demand.
You think there is going to be increased demand for used RVs with $5.00+ gallon fuel and runaway inflation in general? I don't.

Article
With fuel approaching $5.00 per gallon national average and predicted to keep climbing, watch this accelerate like a runaway train. Of course they still sugarcoat it, which is to be expected coming from the RV Industry's propaganda publication.
This is news?
Only if you want it to be.

RE: CG Prices

When a company invests in improvements and raising prices, that's a little different than raising rates, and doing no upkeep or improvements. THen take the extra profits to the bank, and clients get nothing extra for the extra fee.
The latter reminds me of the word Greed...
So you sell widgets and you have a big stockpile that sell for let's say $100 and now the market supports selling that same widget for $150 you are going to keep selling at $100???????
Monkey44 is just expressing his disdain for capitalism, just as most folks who are not motivated and self reliant support socialism.
It’s ok. If everyone was was motivated and self reliant and capitalist, there would be less cheese to go around for the motivated people to eat!

RE: Need guidance on best roof trailers

For the last 8-10 years the vast majority of travel trailers and 5th wheels have Alpha Systems Superflex roofing, basically a thin PVC, think thin pool Liner. Forest River and Thor use it on most if not all of their brands and it has been on every Grand Design product ever made. That's about 90%+ of the towable market. Alpha systems entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with Lippert in 2020, that should tell you its the cheapest material available.

Half arse powering your house is better than having no power at all.
Agreed, but you can half arse power your house with an $800 Hazard Fraught contractor genny, you certainly don't need a $70K+ pickup truck.
Back in the day Kirby made a water pump attachment for their vacuum cleaners. Nothing like buying an uber expensive vacuum cleaner at the time to pump out your basement or drain your swimming pool?

RE: Ford F150 Lightning Started Deliveries

I can buy a 48KW natural gas powered generator, and all the other needed equipment, which can power everything in a house with a 200 amp service, for less than $25,000.00 installed. A setup that will still be sitting waiting to go when needed 20-30 years after it's installed and not be a depreciated rusted out chunk of steel and plastic sitting in some scrap yard.
When we had numerous PSPS, they shut off the gas as well. Everyone with a built-in GENPAC was SOL and those with solar and backup were golden. I was fine with my cheap-o gas-powered generator.
Ford is the one making the claim that it can run your house.

Ok, valid point if you want to split hairs, so how about a 48KW diesel generator with a 2500 gallon tank? We've never lost gas service during blackouts, perhaps a CA thing?

RE: How well does the RAM 2500 6.4 Hemi tow?

Also, I would say the cost spread between gasoline and diesel is more than $1
I was in PA over the weekend, paid $6.09 for diesel south of Pittsburgh.
While I was fueling the digital price sign changed for regular gas from $4.79 to $4.89 in the blink of an eye LOL.

RE: Ford F150 Lightning Started Deliveries

Did it say, How much power this thing is "Supposed" to be able to provide ?
9.7 kwH
580 hp
775 pounds-feet of torque
320 mile range (extended, for Lariat)
To get the 9.7 you have to get either Lariat or Platinum Trim. 9.7 is nothing when it comes to powering a house. You can run a mid sized AC and a fridge at the same time, maybe charge a phone. Oh whoopee.
Lariat starts at $67,474.00 and Platinum at $90,874.00 MSRP, and that's without any type of dealer "market adjustment".
A lot of coin for a 1/2 ton truck you can not even get until 2023 maybe unless you're already on the list, that can half arse power your house, and if you rack up a lot of miles what is the battery lifespan? The overall truck probably has an overall lifespan of 8-10 years max with a lot of use, maybe less if you're in the rustbelt.

RE: Purchasing advice?

We're shopping for a new fifth wheel and I'm trying to figure out how much below MSRP we can reasonably expect to be able to make a deal in the current economy?
Any advice would be appreciated.
What you get off below MythicalSRP, if anything, will quickly be absorbed by higher fuel prices and then some, so just go for it. Even though sales have to be falling off due to current economic realities, do not expect many discounts with building materials and steel going up daily, along with transportation costs for everything used when building a new RV.

RE: Furrion Convection Microwave

Furrion = Low grade junk. Just slightly above LCI in quality, but not by much.
Lippert owns Furrion...
Rob
Yes, but they kept the brand name this go around, they dont always do that. That's the Lippert M.O. Buy out, cheapen product, price proprietary replacement or repair parts out of sight. When Furrion started out they actually provided quality stuff to the boating crowd for a few years, now it's just a name on imported junk made as cheaply as possible.
Dexter's frame division, Michiana mattress, Curt manufacturing, Schwintek, could list over a dozen more that Lippert played the shell game with.
I once seen 2 of the same floorplan Keystone TT's at a campground. One, a 2012, was on a Dexter frame, the other a 2013 on a LCI frame after they bought out Dexter's frame division. An eye opener.

RE: What's up with CGs?

Welcome to the Nanny State, where multitudes of rules need shoved in your face and they have to keep you safe.
The firewood rules are special. Invasive insects do not infest processed wood such as scraps from pallets, but you can conveniently buy our overpriced green bundles that will not light without 5 gallons of gas. No **** toys with remote controls or ones that require batteries lol. Sounds like a fun place.
Um, excuse me, but there are a several pallet manufacturers in my vicinity, and NONE of them use the kiln dried wood that is safe from pests. ALL of them use strictly rough-sawn, "green" lumber.
I assume these pallets you mention are bootleg, ONLY used locally, and not used to ship materials across STATE lines or leave the US? You might want to read up on what is required by the USDA and stae agencies when it comes to pallets in the US, and ISPM 15 if used internationally. You may also want to read up on what happens to invasive and indigenous pests when tress are cut and debarked.

All the theories in this thread and not one mention of where the ASLEF, UTU, BLET, and a few others are mixed into the recipe? Not one thing happens without them having a say.
Well now that you you've mentioned it please fill us in. I'm especially interested in how a British union plays into this mess.

RE: Best route in WV

There are no interstate or 4 lane highways in that part of WV, either route will involve some grades and turns, it's WV. Personally I would use 219 as much as you can. During weekdays the obstacles will be slow moving log trucks and coal or gravel toting tri axles.
