RE: Used diesel, anyway to tell if it's been chipped?

Food for thought... Diesel costs (Maint / Fuel) are higher than GAS across the board.. I have one, love the power. but the price of diesel and the cost for repair makes me question my purchase of it so long ago. Make sure you check your camper specs against what you are buying.... Slide in Campers are famous for being heavy.... Just cause the truck says you can haul it does not mean it will be safe or comfortable to drive. Most folks who but a TC end up doing a lot of mods to the truck to get it where they want. Suspension and tires wise........ I know been there done it..

RE: Sagging springs on 2 yr old TT ??

"US MADE" sure but where is the metal coming from to make those? Willing to be China as there are less and less Call AF and see what they say. Never heard of that on an AF product...

RE: Bunkhouse TT Suggestions

Check starcraft, all the mfgs make a bunk house BUT I am about the same size as you 6'4.... MANY only have short queens and a lot dont tell you that on their website..... Maybe this? KODIAK ULTRA-LITE 248BHSL At you weight requirements you may have a hard time finding something not cramped..... Get A 3/4 ton truck it will open up your options as others have stated in your other thread... You will be happy you did, and now is a good time to buy.....

RE: Keystone Slidewall Structual damage issue

Take a read on this.. Others with wall issues...They have a customer service number posted on this site maybe give them a call... https://keystone-rv.pissedconsumer.com/complaints/RT-P.html?query=wall Good luck and let us know the outcome. I feel for you and your family.. Freaking sucks!

RE: Keystone Slidewall Structual damage issue

Hmmm never had anything like that done so dont know if the cost is accurate. But they had replace Luan which would probably be the slide out, and awning fabric... not sure how that plays into the main roof... I would think at that price it most likely will not cover the work on the wall but I guess that would depend on how deep they go...

RE: Keystone Slidewall Structual damage issue

So if they are not claiming the roof caused it, then throw a piece of Eternabond tape on it and tell them to fix the wall.... Sounds like they are going to jack the price on the insurance claim to cover the wall repair...

RE: Keystone Slidewall Structual damage issue

That doesnt look that bad, but since you are in FL it is a little wetter there than most places..I find it hard to believe that issue caused the wall issues but I guess it would depend on the amount of water intrusion and for how long it has been going on. Do you all ever get on the roof to inspect it?

RE: Keystone Slidewall Structual damage issue

Right on! If you sell it just disclose to buyer the issues and make sure you put it on the bill of sale and have them sign it... There are most likely few people who would purchase a project but they are out there.... You will lose your ButtI. In any case.. Maybe pressure dealer for trade-in. But I dont think they will do you any favors. Another option is try to call the owner of the company and tell your story to them... I had a situation with my car and ended up talking to owner of the local dealership to get it resolved.. I wont be going back there but it did help to get the car completed finally.

RE: Keystone Slidewall Structual damage issue

You may also want to call USAA and let them know your concerns. So you are on record about it. USAA is great to work with, My rental property had a fire and the contractor Billed them this crazy amount and then when complete I went thru the house and there was 20,000 Dollars worth of things they said they were going to do and replace which they didnt, I called them out on it and worked with USAA to get their final payment adjusted. My thoughts are if people are allowed to get away with dishonesty it only effects us and causes our rates to go up across the board. When it comes to insurance I dont want to screw around, dont normally need it but when u do its a blessing.

RE: Keystone Slidewall Structual damage issue

You should call USAA or the Dealer and get pictures of this supposed roof damage. Would be interested to see what that looks like. Good luck!

RE: Keystone Slidewall Structual damage issue

Sorry but this whole thing sounds SHADY.......... I dont like to jump on the lawyer bandwagon EVER but seriously call the local walton county law office, better biz Bureau, . ... At the very least this sounds like insurance fraud..... and you will go down with the ship....

RE: If you have a Diesel HD truck - Code reader

Hmmm interesting. I used the one mentioned on my diesel and it seems to work, I dont have DEF and have not had Glow Plug issues. But It did tell me my MAF sensor and EGR were bad.

Curious as to what codes are specific? I have one of these and it {seems} to work? Or am I missing something? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007XE8C74?pd_rd_i=B007XE8C74&pd_rd_w=Jv28v&pf_rd_p=a5a2473c-04e3-4528-a4d4-06f356b68123&pd_rd_wg=xAlyf&pf_rd_r=E64DXKZZNGYKDH8HDBVM&pd_rd_r=a3535361-7c8a-437f-b429-851732e00b8e

RE: Travel restrictions

Two weeks without leaving the trailer definitely would not be fun!!!!! Thank you for your post! Self quarantine doesn't mean you can't leave the trailer. It's just a recommendation that you should avoid public interaction. I don't see how it's feasible, we have the same thing in Michigan. Folks from Detroit and Chicago coming up to their Lake Michigan cottages for the weekend are supposed to self qt for 14 days, well, they're here for three and the first thing they do is stop at the grocery store which is public interaction. Traveling in an RV, if it's a bigger one maybe you could stock up with food and supplies, so you don't have to re-provision right away? This limits your public interaction. Unfortunately not true. From a recent email I received from recreation.gov. " Please be aware that out-of-state travelers are required to follow the governor’s 14-day quarantine directive before they recreate in Montana including camping in this campground, due to the risk of spreading COVID-19 and taxing local healthcare resources. The directive can be found at https://covid19.mt.gov/. This directive includes the requirements that those in quarantine cannot leave for groceries, recreation, work or any other activity and restrictions on group size." Also received a similar email from a private campsite saying along the same lines in MT. They had previously said their general store was stocked for provisioning. But then sent out another email a week later saying if you come you stay in your rig bring your own supplies :( Local town also banned all short and long term lodging till June I believe.... Applies to CG's and Hotels ETC

RE: Keystone Slidewall Structual damage issue

What is the purpose of warranty forever? What kind of tree marks are on the roof? Is the roof damaged? What kind of reviews are there for this dealer? Are they capable of repairing it to a satisfactory condition? Sounds like they are passing the buck......If you claim on insurance that will go against you and at some point it may cause your rates to go up... I would call keystone personally and talk to someone....

RE: Are "all-bed" campers length safe? Most compatible all bed?

Thanks, everyone has opinions and experiences. I just choose to go on the side of caution as I get older. I live in the North West lots of two lane roads and big cliffs to go off of. My biggest fear (probably unfounded) was having a blow out and losing control and taking the family and myself off the side of a cliff.. LOL. But hey I had tork lift tiedowns so the camper would have probably stayed attached to the truck in any case. However I dont regret owning a truck camper IMO they are the greatest thing out there. I was able to get to many places I wont be able to get to with my new TT.. If I had to do it again, I would buy a one ton dually and a nice camper but not the biggest thing I could put in the bed. Check out host campers! Dang would love one of them. But Cripes the weight of them makes me wonder how those would handle in a 3500 dually

RE: Giant Recreation World in Florida

I agree, bought a new TT for 30K last year. While the sale went fine and I have had no real major problems. I would have thought maybe a follow up phone call or something would have been received...But nope..... Maybe just not realistic expectations.
