RE: Batteries not holding charge ???

When you store the trailer, are you plugged into shore power? If not, I think 2 months or less may not be too bad since there are parasitic draws on the system, even if the battery disconnect is switched to off. The CO/LP monitor comes to mind. If there is no power hooked up to them, try disconnecting the batteries and see what happens. Mine is stored hooked up to power so my advice may not be that helpful because I cannot recall how long my batteries have held a charge when not plugged in. Its been years since I was in that situation.

RE: Holding tanks

Just because there is a switch, does not mean there is another tank. My non existent 2nd galley tank shows empty when I use the buttons.

RE: Best stabilization upgrade(s)?

I cannot remember the brand but I had a cheaper version of the JT Strongarms on2 of my trailers. I actually would put 2 on each stabilizer (90 degrees to each other) and they worked great. They were BAL 23216. I just looked them up.

RE: Thought I killed my on board generator!

Glad it worked out OK. I would have had that "what did I do?" thought running in my head too.

RE: Axle Spindle Nut Wrong

Finally received the nut replacement and the new nuts worked ok.:) Took a little finessing but got the cotter pin in. Bill Nut on the right is the problem nut. I was half expecting to see a picture with two people in it....:B

RE: Fifth wheel Hitch troubleshooting

I have a different hitch but have the same issue if I have the nose of the trailer too high. I walk that fine line of having it low enough that the kingpin slides up the hitch without it feeling like I am jamming the hitch onto the kingpin causing the trailer getting knocked around a bit. (that is an over simplified explanation). I know I am not hitting it hard or anything, it just feels wrong to have it jar the trailer. I also think you may want to try to check the lubrication. Could be a combination of both things---too high and too dry. Let us know your outcome.

RE: Kudos to Toledo Mobile RV Repair

Glad it worked out for you and also nice to see a post when something good happens. If you can post your review on the RV Service review web site for other folks to see as well Thanks for the advice. I just tried and I was getting some type of Microsoft error when I submitted. I will look later to see if it shows up. I believe in speaking up when someone does good work as good customer service should be rewarded and others should know too so they can make a wise decision where to go or not go.

I had to close out and earlier today I could not get in (using Chrome). 15 minutes ago, it let me in. Hopefully the problem is solved. But thanks for posting the original because I think I was the first to read the original post so I did not log out for a couple days. then my computer decided it needed to do an update.

Kudos to Toledo Mobile RV Repair

So let me start off and explain. I was having troubles with my slides (hydraulic) running and stopping and eventually they just stopped. Battery was fine. Thought it might be the self resetting circuit breaker but if it keeps tripping, something must be wrong. In April, on way home from TN, the slides starting coming out on their own as I was traveling down the hiway. Called Lippert and then stopped and Lowes and braced the slides with a 2x4 on the inside. made it home. Got home, Unhitched, 1st slide wwent out a foot and then nothing. Called Lippert and learned how to override the slides (not hard to do). Called dealer because I had an extended warranty. Because I was 3 hours away, the warranty place said I could go elsewhere plus the dealer said they could get me in on May 28th. I called a mobile rv person near me and he recommended Toledo Mobile RV. Had to call Lippert to see how to override the 6 point levelers (again not difficult) because that quit too. I called them and they said they could get me in the beginning of May but due to the work, I would have to bring it in. Not bad, only an hour away. Dropped the rig off and Sam said he was busy but he would look at as soon as he could. Less than 2 weeks go by, he calls and tells me the breaker kept tripping and it was drawing over 51 amps. He ended up having to replace the the whole pump assembly and a few other things. He called the warranty place and submitted the diagnostic report and called me two weeks to the day after dropping it off and said it was done. I owed my deductible and a little more due to coverage limits I guess, etc. I went there the next day, (yesterday) and picked it up and it works great. They even kept the rig locked up and secured the kingpin. Normally, I do not buy extended warranties but with a residential fridge and the hydraulics and 6 point leveler system. Warranty company paid almost $2900 for the repairs and that was a lot less than I paid for the warranty. So, Kudos to Sam at Toledo Mobile RV. They were very helpful, quick (and he apologized for taking so long--had to laugh because its back and if I went to the dealer it would still be broken for another 9 days---plus who knows how long THEY would take.)

RE: New Full Body Paint Job

Your face must be hurting from smiling so much. It looks great. I like the new lights on top and the black painted stabilizers (or is it just the lighting)...makes for a nice touch and keeps it sharp looking. The painter should use photos of your rig for advertising.

RE: That Cummins, she’s just a ____ing machine!

Nice looking truck! MY mileage suffers if I get near 70 so I tow at about 62 mph

RE: First Post - 2012 Ram 1500 Laramie - What can I pull??

Check the rear axle weight limit and the limit on your tires. Also, manufacturers usually take into consideration that the driver weighs 150 lbs and a full tank of fuel. I am not one to recommend going overweight but an engineer friend at Ford says they set the limits based on what 80% of the people would feel comfortable. The first trailer you mention is what I would go with. Not sure how much gear you will load but I NEVER tow a tank of freshwater...at 8lbs a gallon it adds up fast. There are some here that swear you need a dual wheel pick up to tow a pop up. When you talk weight limits, you are opening Pandora's box on this site. I think most will agree the truck will be more than fine for the smaller trailer.

RE: Trying to decide on whether or not to purchase-DECISION

Not trying to say that our dog is quiet but what I found that works for all the dogs we ever had was to turn the AC fan to High (med and low work too) and even if the temp does not kick the AC on, the fan provides white noise for the dog and it has stopped all of them from barking. My wife likes to leave the radio or the TV on for them too.
