RE: Residential fridge

I have the residential fridge and it works great off the inverter when I am towing. I have the stock Interstate deep cycle rv battery from the dealer.

RE: Flying J frustrations - Alternatives?

I have used Love's, Speedway, Fuelmaster and other truck stops. I just wish my credit cards worked at the truck pumps.

RE: Extended Warranty: Why do I need it?

I will be in the minority here. I normally do not get the extended warranties but I did get it with my current rig. I got it because it has a residential fridge which will not fit through the door should it need replacing. Also, it has the hydraulic leveling system. Well about 2+ yrs after buying it, the slides started to malfunction and literally started coming out while driving on the highway. fast forward to me calling dealer and them telling me it was about 3 months before I could bring it in but because I had an extended warranty I could take it anyplace I wanted. I found a repair place in Toledo and dropped the trailer off 2 weeks later. @ weeks after that, the rig was fixed and the bill was over $3000.00. I paid a small deductible. So this time it worked for me. All in all, I saved over a grand. The does not mean I am sold on the warranties. If I had a simpler trailer, like I used to, then no I would not have gotten the warranty. The best thing I can say is to look at what you have in there that can go bad and what the replacement cost might be. Air conditioning units, 2-way refrigerators, water heaters can all be replaced without costing a fortune. The warranty company was easy to deal with. I must have gotten lucky.

RE: Big Tires pulling Small tires.

When I was a cop, I stopped a guy for speeding. When he went to court, he said he was a rocket scientist (and I think he really was based on where I was a cop) and that my radar clocked his tires which were smaller than his car and the tires were going faster than the car which is larger. The judge at one point, may have been off the record, said in a joking manner that we were doing "radar" all wrong. I replied that is the reason we have stop signs and red lights--so the car can catch up to the tires.

RE: 3rd AC

have you pulled the inside covers off your AC to see if the ducts are blocked or if some of the cold air is mixing with the hot air. I just saw some videos today on airflow systems ( pretty sure that was the name). Maybe something like that product will help. I saw some videos on youtube about them.

RE: New 5er coming

I found pulling a 5th wheel more relaxing than the travel trailer. Maybe it was the switch to a diesel. Either way, bring it over here by Ann Arbor so I can see your new rig. lol. When we go out East West or South, we tend to go far away and I do all the driving. I can drive 14 plus hours...not that I prefer that, but sometimes that is what I have to do. Its not so bad with a fifth wheel. Enjoy the new rig and truck.

RE: Fridge lock

I use a bungee cord but mine has this weird end that you insert the bungee cord through the hole and then pull it down 90 degrees to a channel that locks it into place. I run this cord through the two side by side doors and the lower freezer door. Its called an adjustable bungee cord...

RE: You know anything about Columbus River Ranch?

Very nice looking but not sure if I would want a fenced in gated area when I walk in. Maybe to keep the kids from the door, but that trailer doesn't look like it is made for kids.

RE: Surveyor 322BHLE bedroom tv mount

My old trailer had a sticker where to put the mount. You may want to look directly below the sticker and tap on the walls in the area. You may feel or hear that it is a little different than the surrounding area because on some rigs, they mount a piece of plywood behind the wall to anchor the mount to. You can always measure to see how far back the pocket door goes. This was the same set up as my trailer was. You can also attach a thin piece of plywood to the outside of the wall if you can find the studs in the wall. I would paint the wood white or something similar to the wall so it does not "stick out like a sore thumb". I mounted a small tv (think 24inch or less) and they are really light. If you can take a photo of the area and post it, it might help. Keep us posted.

RE: black water tank treatments

I use some chemicals...whatever I found a good deal on. I use them mostly to deodorize. I have also used the homemade remedies...dishsoap, laundry soap,Calgon, etc and they were fine too. Just easier to drop a packet into the toilet then to add a cup of this and a pinch of that.

RE: Slide out won't close all the way

This happened to me recently> Lippert said the fluid is getting past (something) and it is equalizing. They told me that it could go all the way out, there are no "stops" built in. They recommended a slide out lock, (which we could not find on our way home from TN) or to get a 2x4 and wedge it in between the wall and the lip of the slide out. Basically like people do to secure their sliding glass door in the house. We stopped at Lowes and had a 2x4 cut. Lippert then told me how to override the hydraulic pump because it quit working completely. It was not hard to do once they told me, but I would have never figured it out myself. Lippert Tech support was very helpful, thankfully.

RE: Bonehead Blunder, I'm an idiot!

Isn't it funny how we all tell on ourselves? Sometimes I wish I would keep my mouth shut, but no, I have to tell someone what a big mistake I made.

RE: Bonehead Blunder, I'm an idiot!

I made a checklist for my FW when I hook up and disconnect. Then I laminated it and keep it in the center console of my truck. Why? Because I was not immune to doing something stupid. In fact, I have done it on other things so much that I decided to make this sheet before I hooked up the first time. Even now I force myself to review the list. We have all done it so join the club.

PhilH---your local Ford dealer does not even have any Superduty trucks listed on their website. Let us know when you hear anything positive.

RE: Found It, What a joke. Buying in 2021 LOL. You can keep it.

Wonder what they do when a person comes in with an "A" or "X" plan. I was told they get audited for those and they have to sell it for the plan price.

What a deal!---no thanks

I keep getting offers from my dealer (in the mail) that I can trade my 2016 F350 for a 2021 for only $87 more a month (of course that is for many years). The blue book value is close to what I paid for it almost 5 years ago. But why would I do this? So I can trade it in and order a truck that will arrive who knows when? No thanks. I can't hook my fiver to my car so I need the truck.

RE: Fifth wheel Hitch troubleshooting

I wish the original posters would update us on how things went. I am not trying to be mean but many never update us. It would benefit all of us to know what worked, again not just in this post, but in others.

RE: Check those prices

My dealer just had a $99.99 special for a diesel. New filter, oil, rotate tires, top off the other fluids. I could not pass that up. Last time I did my own, it cost me around that price, maybe more. It was worth it for the tire rotation. Now when it is time to change the fuel filters, I will do it myself.

RE: F250 or F350 to Haul a 5th Wheel???

I would go with the new Ford Ranger or even the new Maverick if I did not want to go for overkill. Heck, you won't even know it is back there.
