RE: Steps recommendations

Yet another enthusiastic vote for the Glow steps. Best move I ever made.

RE: DirecTV DNS changes

In case you missed it, local CBS stations came back a couple of days ago. Somebody must have blinked.

RE: Seattle RV Park Recs

Seattle is not RV friendly. If you are touring the south side of Seattle, then the KOA in Kent (this coming from a guy who dislikes KOA) is the best choice. If playing on the north side, then Lake Pleasant (nice park) is the place.

RE: 2017 montana

The most common causes: 1. The disconnect switch in the convenience center is in the wrong position. The labeling is confusing at best. The key is if you can remove the red key, the battery is disconnected. 2. The batteries were disconnected and/or replaced and wired backwards (even if for just a second or two). This blows the protection fuses in the converter. Replace the four fuses and things are good (assuming the battery is connected correctly) 3. The 50 Amp circuit breaker has failed completely. You can jumper it to verify. If none of the above apply, get out the voltmeter and follow the voltage from the converter to the battery (or vice versa). Plugged into shore power you should see +/- 13.4 volts all the way down the path.

RE: DTV nightmare.. Timmac around?

Just tested again. Lower antenna, turn off receiver. Turn receiver back on, no access to all recordings. Hr-44 Software ox11b2 Fri 5/10, 317a I have the exact same model with the same software level (done on 5/9) As I have absolutely no chance of getting a signal where I am, I just turned on the receiver (which had no power prior to arriving) and watched it go through its routine. I had no cable from the antenna and LNB attached to the receiver. Soon enough I got the infamous 775 error (no LNB found). I then press Menu and get two choices in the left pane: Setup; or Recordings. It takes a few seconds for the recording titles to populate in the main display body but once they do, everything is available to play and/or delete.

RE: 2017 montana 3921FB _ Front Bath Tub

They use an On-Demand WH in the bath tub models. As long as you have water, it will be hot (given the limitations of an On-Demand system). There are number of folks with bath tub models on the Montana Owners Club forum. www.montanaowners.com

RE: Boxes for T105 batteries

Century Plastics sells battery boxes for 1, 2 or 4 Golf Cart Batteries. The box is actually made by someone else and I forget the name. But there are numerous re sellers. Some Google work should find the alternatives. But here is a link to the Century Plastic offering - Clicky On Edit: The manufacturer is Dyno Battery Inc.

RE: Cloud Storage became cloudy..

(like GDGs in MVS O/S). Someone is showing their age! ;) Mea culpa. :B U 2, if you understood the reference. Welcome to mainframe computers Jurassic Park. :W z/OS now lets you access a base GDG set in FIFO order rather than the difficult to process LIFO order of the past. It only took 35 years to get it done. Now back to our normal program.

RE: Government Shutdown Quartzsite LTVAs

A sure sign that the BLM is furloughed is the hundreds of campers out on Plamosa Road camping out of bounds beyond the 3 mile marker. A definite no-no in normal years.

RE: Direct TV

We were experiencing the same pixalation/short screen freeze in CA on the home antenna. The receiver is now in AZ with a different antenna and it still happens.

RE: Directv H25 problems

I am confused! In your first post, and several subsequent ones, you state you are trying to connect to your Weingard Carryout dome type antenna to get DTV HD signals. It is a well documented fact that *NONE* of the portable dome antennas have the capability to receive DTV HD channels (i.e. satellites 99 and 103). They just don't do it for DTV. If you want HD with DTV you need a rooftop antenna (Trav'ler or RF Mogul) and/or a tripod mounted SL3 dish antenna. Adding a SWM8 kit allows you to connect a non-SWM antenna to a SWM only receiver. But it only works for SD channels as that is all the antenna understands. Am I missing something here?

RE: Is Artificial Intelligence swooping down on us?

Two days ago we were stirring around discussing Xmas shopping. Someone briefly mentioned a Swedish clothing store (which none of us have ever visited) here in Seattle. Later when my son used his iPhone, up popped a bunch of ads for the same store. Don't tell me Siri isn't listening.

RE: extended RV warranties

I bought a $1,400 EZ-Care warranty (good but there are better) when I bought the RV. When it ran out they had paid out over $12,000 for repairs (the big one was replacing the refer). I used their money to renew the contract ($1,600) last year when it ran out. So far they have paid $1,100 to replace the motor on my hydraulic system (basically a 12V starter motor which Lippert sells for $790!!!!). The rig is in the shop now to repair/replace a leaking jack, fix a bad grey tank valve and repair a door strut. I figure I will be ahead of the game (again) with years to go. Given the crappy construction, inferior materials, and bad roads we drive over I am willing to roll the dice. Plus it is getting where I can't (and don't want to) wrench on these beast any longer.

But for the thousands camping at Quartzsite, AZ you are only 17 miles away.

RE: Mobley to Unite SIM PIN Locked

On the Netgear Unite 770s, the SIM lock code can be changed by going to "Settings", "Mobile Broadband", and clicking on "SIM Security". Click on "Activate" and enter the default lock code "1111". You'll now be able to change the code. After the change, disable SIM security again so you won't have to enter the code every time you boot up the hotspot. I don't know if the Unite Explore has the same management setup... Thanks!!! That worked perfectly!

RE: NO DEISEL IN GAS CAN?

Main problem is OR. Can't pump your own. That applies to gasoline only. You can pump your own diesel in OR. In fact, one place I was in last week posted a sign that if you wanted diesel then you had to pump it, they would not. Which was fine with me as I am used to pumping my own fuel. The hitch in the giddy up was only the attendant could operate the pump control system (i.e. run credit card, etc). Getting him to come over and do his portion took forever. My role was limited to squeezing the handle on the dispenser.

RE: Wiring trouble shooting question

The 120V, 12V power and the propane line run under the slideout to a junction box at the rear of the slide on a Montana 3400. The junction box is a well known source of problems as it tend to leak. Remove the cover and check the 120V wiring there. Most likely the crimped connections have corroded and/or chafed causing the fault. The best solution is to solder the joints and seal them with heat shrink. The Montana Owners Club (MOC) forum at www.montanaowners.com is a repository of all things Montana supported by over 15,000 owners. It is free to join and highly recommended.

RE: Direct TV HD set up

I have been doing DTV HD with a portable antenna for the last 6 years. Once you get the hang of it, it normally takes under 10 minutes start to finish. Start with a good tripod (like others I use and recommend the TV4RV one). Get it level and oriented towards the satellites. Use one of the dishpointer apps on your phone to ensure there is a clear shot to the satellites. I use the dishpointer.com web site to get the specific azimuth, elevation and skew for my location. (hint: do it ahead of time and then you are ready to setup as soon as you arrive). Set the elevation and skew on the antenna before you mount it on the tripod. A compass will show you where to point the antenna. Plop the antenna on the mount and you should be close. To home in on the signal I use a Sat Look Lite signal finder. But others use the receiver and its builtin signal meter. I know one person who uses the old style "Squeal-o-meter" to home in on the satellites. The key is to lock in on the 101 satellite. Do that and 99/103 will also be there (assuming the skew is anywhere close to the prescribed value).

RE: Toilet overflowed...

The Thetford POS is known for flooding the bowl and then the RV (among other things). Buy a Dometic 320 and throw the Thetford away.
