RE: An error has occurred (Resolved at last)

in the last 3 days I've had one error page when I attempted a post NO error pages reading messages or the "new posts" page. I'm calling it resolved. You are outnumbered by those who still have the issue.:)

RE: I'm In College Football Haven Over Here!

Last weekend I watched Mich./Iowa and Mich. looked absolutely great on Defense, but NOT very good on Offense! However, they did beat Iowa 10 - 3! For me the game to watch this week is Florida /LSU in Baton Rouge (Red Baton). I'm sure there will be other good games to watch, but I just woke up and just a little groggy! The BIG10 has (3) good Teams: Ohio State, Penn State, & Wisconsin! Red Baton?. That will get you laughed out of Louisiana by saying that.:B Baton Rouge means "Red Stick".

Does somone make electrical knockout 1/4" punches? Or rectangular switch punches anymore? Would a Whitney punch work? http://www.siouxtools.com/who-we-are Looks like Sioux still exists. Now part of Snap-On

RE: Osteoporosis

George-The drug you mentioned with an "F" was probably Fosamax. I was on it for several years and my Rheumatologist told me I had times out so I no longer take it. All drugs have side effects, often rare, some worse than others. Fosamax has on those rare occasions caused Osteo Necrosis-Not sure of spelling. An oral surgeon one refused to remove a tooth because I was on Fosamax. Said I had to be off of it for 6 months and take a specific blood test. First 2 labs had never heard of the test but a third did. Tooth was removed with no issues. My Rheumatologist became a little angry at the surgeon. I am now on Enbril for 5 plus years and to read the side effects, along with some of the other drugs-Methotrexate is one of them. Prior to Enbril one must be tested for TB as well as many other biologic require will scare you. One must weigh risks vs. benefits. I suffered incredible pain with my Rheumatoid Arthritis until they were able to get it under control and I doubt I will ever get off them. I have friends Prolea and I may have to start taking it soon. How old is your neighbor? Falls and fractures in the elderly can be a long time recovery. I woulkd ask my doctor to give the the benefits vs. risks of Prolia, Reclast or any other injectible and why did he chose the one he did. She should also ask her doctor about co-pay assistance from whichever drugs she chooses. My Enbril, one injection per week with a 12 pack refill per quarter is $14,000 per quarter.

RE: I'm In College Football Haven Over Here!

Yep-Clemson did not look good yesterday and I agree NC should have kicked the extra point. I still favor Clemson and root for any team who plays Alabama. I see Clemson getting fewer #1 points as Alabama creeps closer to #1. I also think your Buckeyes may jump LSU and become #4. LSU had a bye week yesterday and will play Utah next week. They then begin conference play with Florida, Miss. State, Auburn and then Alabama on 10/9. Hoping the running game gets going.

RE: GM Strike

Unions are always a tough and touchy subject...big surprise! Been Union, been non Union, both paid well enough to fund my college education in real time. Now manage both Union and non union shops. The common denominators here that are causing a lot of the riff in the discussion are... 1. There is a large % of the population that either by will power or intelligence level, will never rise above the position of menial to skilled labor. Period. 2. There are people performing the same tasks as #1 who excel at it for various reasons and they make the #1s look bad and there are more #1s than #2s. Hence the sentiment that people get paid too much for the service they provide. Totally the case for some, not the case for others in "equal" positions. That's the rub with unions. The socialism of the equality across the board. Bad in that it rewards those who "just get by" for whatever reason they're just barely getting by. Good in that, somewhere there's a break even point between fair compensation and the effort put in to get that compensation. And without Union representation (not just UAW), there would be a disparity and more common folk getting taken advantage of. And for those that cannot fathom how CEOs make "so much" and even mid level managers. You are probably a #1 either by choice or default. I actively manage or am responsible for the performance about 100 people currently, but that number fluctuates as high as several hundred sometimes. If you're a #2. You likely get it. If you're a #1, you probably don't. Best comment yet. I believe your #1 is will power. So many have had too much given to them that they have little desire to be better and there is so much assistance from the Federal, State and local governments that they can get by without working.

RE: GM Strike

I think Mary Barra is hot. Maybe so,too bad she has NO clue what kind of cars are popular and what people want For example can anyone say this concept rear wheel drive Buick wouldnt sell? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buick_Avista Why not make beautiful cars like that? Definetly a nice looking car. Give customers the option of a pure electric drive train and hit an emerging market. Cost of developing new cars is huge and it is based upon the Cadillac and Camaro design which means that the market is too small to support a third vehicle unless the Camaro or Cadillac was dropped.

RE: GM Strike

There is a two tier wage system and temporary workers because the union gave it their blessing. GM workers getting higher wages and benefits will probably result in less sales for GM because the prices of their vehicles will have to be higher. The unions are political entities and maybe they want to help trigger a recession for obvious political reasons. You may be correct but if IRC, at least in the past, manufacturers take turns at negotiations and the new contract laid the terms of negotiations with the other two. If so, most of what is agreed upon by GM will also affect the other 2 local issues aside. Thus eventually the additional cost to GM will also become additional costs to the other 2?

RE: GM Strike

The employees must be doing better than I thought. If they can afford to strike they are doing good. If they were in poor shape they would continue to work under the old contacts while negotiating the new. Both unions and management need to clean their acts. Management compensation is not commensurate with management contributions. GM and their workers lost my business years ago with their paint jobs on trucks that lasted until you drove off the lot, doors rusting thru quickly, AC units failing quickly, leaks in trunk. Took me a while to learn but never again. GM management is now rated better than in the past and better than Ford and Chrysler from several sources I have read. In my lifetime I have had 4 Ford products, 2 Chrysler's, and 11 GM products of which 3 were 2500 diesels. In that time I had a recall for possible water leaks in the trunk of which there was not a leak. Several other recalls such as inspection of seat belts twice and 1 possible cable pinch on the electric seat. One AC failure on a 1977, a door lock that fell into the door, 3 glow plugs and a failed EGR valve and 1 clearcoat area on my GMC Jimmy back in the late 70's. EDIT: On the subject of temporary/part time workers, all of the Big 3 do this

RE: GM Strike

I don't see where the money is going to come from. GM stock has been basically flat ever since they went public again, GM is exiting the car business because they are not competitive, I am seeing adds for $12,000 off on their new trucks, GM's self-driving car business seems to have flopped, they have basically failed in electric cars and the only thing that I have seen advertised other than discounts is a nifty tailgate. When you add in that by historical standards we are already overdue for a recession in general and the auto business in particular things aren't looking good for GM. I sold my stock in GM several months ago. As for the amount the negotiations themselves, if all of the UAW workers in my area quit I believe that GM could get qualified replacements as fast as they could process the paperwork for at least a 30% discount. Then GM would have a fighting chance in the market. I dare the UAW to test that theory. GM profit figures translate to healthy profit-sharing bonuses for GM UAW workers. Each member will receive a $10,750 profit-sharing check on Feb. 22,2019. The figure follows company profits, thus, the bonus is down from $11,750 last year. GM typically leads in its profit-sharing bonuses for UAW members. Ford announced a $7,600 profit-sharing check for its employees coming this March. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles hasn’t disclosed its earning yet. GM said since 2010 it has paid more than $80,500 to each UAW employee in profit-sharing checks. GM pays an average of $1,000 per billion of profits which were 10.8 in 2018. Ford profits down more than 50 percent in 2018. Dearborn — Ford Motor Co. made $3.7 billion in 2018, a 52 percent slip in profit compared to the year prior, due largely to poor performance from the company's Chinese and European businesses.Jan 23, 2019. Historical daily share price chart and data for Ford Motor since 1972 adjusted for splits. The latest closing stock price for Ford Motor as of September 24, 2019 is 9.11. and is rated "Junk" The all-time high Ford Motor stock closing price was 42.45 on May 03, 1999. Along with GM, Ford and Chrysler are existing or greatly reducing their car businesses in favor of trucks, crossovers and SUVs. Honda has said they believe there is still a market for sedans and it appears the other auto makers feel the same way. Remember when people were dumping trucks and SUV's when oil prices soar? Is that going to happen again?

RE: Best Self-Leveling Sealant For An Aluminum Roof?

I use Dicor exclusively. Never had a problem with shrinkage. Tried several others including several of the ProFlex types but they skin over so quickly I find them almost impossible to apply. I have had 5th wheels since 2005 and have not noticed any shrinkage of the Dicor.

RE: I'm In College Football Haven Over Here!

We are at Branson for our annual Army reunion and did not get to watch any games other than Texas and Oklahoma State. I was pulling for OSU. LSU-Lot's of points against a mediocre team. LSU had the best rushing game of the year but points scored by Vandy worries me a little. Vandy was helped by a fumble return and interception for 14 points so the defense held them pretty well. More conference games are coming soon so real challenges are coming. Alabama is still king in the SEC and hopefully LSU can upset them. I place Burrow as one of the best QB's in the nation but he is surrounded by outstanding receivers.

RE: I'm In College Football Haven Over Here!

LSU looked flat a few times in the first half. I am concerned about the running game. Passing is the most exciting part of any game but you are going to have to run the ball against the bug boys. Hopefully it picks up but if not we are back to a one dimension team. Does anyone thing I worry too much.:h No Charlie, don't think you're overly worried. At least not as much as Ed Orgeron might be.:B Not sure how Miles Brennan the back up will respond when called up and will be the QB next year. This years team has the best chance to be Alabama than previous years. Tiger fans want that victory.

RE: I-10 in Louisiana

Construction on the Texas side and frequent wreck. Drive slow in that area. Probably another year to completion. The worst part of I-10 through Louisiana is west dis of Lake Charles. One mile east and west of mile marker 21 is bone jarring. Don't believe you can drive slow enough to help in that area.
