RE: Rip off prices from RV Dealers

Blowing out the water system with air should have removed the water in the PEX line to the toilet if you held the toilet pedal down for a while while blowing air thru the water lines... Assuming you also opened the low point drains.. The weak area is usually the water pump because blowing out with air does not remove the residual water left in the pump head valve area...
RV dealer ships are a rip off with many parts and CW stores are world famous for jacked up parts prices...
Local auto parts stores such as Oreillys, Autozone, NAPA are also just as bad if not worse.. I buy all my auto parts and RV parts on line..
I will not pay $60 for a $20 part that I can usually get in one day
Some percentage of markup on parts is fair but what is currently going on is noting more than pure greed.
$150 an hour labor rates... give me a break

RE: The RV Demand Continues

Camping World and Two Bish RV dealerships in Boise Idaho are packed to the gills with RVs... There isnt a shortage of available RVs and those that are being built on a scale of 1 to 5 rank about Minus 5 for their build quality...
I would not purchase ANY RV made from 2020 and newer right now

RE: Clear2o RV Water Filter

Image of Camco Blue filter versus a two stage filter I use ... The blue filter is no comparison... Want to have less water volume... Use the Camco.. You cant see what the filter is or isnt doing versus a two stage filter with a sediment filter that is twice the size of the entire camco unit...

RE: Clear2o RV Water Filter

Neither of these so called RV water filters is dong much other than eventually restricting the volume of water to your RV... Spend a few bucks a buy a better dual stage water filter that will perform 100 percent better than the camco blue

RE: Dometic 320 water valve

If the water pressure is good (you are using a pressure regulator)... not a Camco piece of junk.... then replace the valve
And if you let that foot pedal snap up hard you WILL sooner or later crack the pedal mechanism and be buying a new toilet...

RE: Centermatics or Balance Beads ???

Since standard RV wheels are LUG CENTERED and not hub centered I would have to question these... Ive been towing trailers and fifth wheels for over 45 years and have never balanced a tire on the RV
If you have the bucks then go for it... Ceramic beads would be much better than these .. and I have been using those on my motorcycle tires for decades...

RE: Sailun tires

YES - NINE YEARS of use wasn't the brightest thing with a set of RV tires.. 5 maybe depending on how they are cared for and weight load and speeds towed at..
But to run a set of RV tires nine years you were lucky you didn't have issue your really didn't want

RE: PUZZLER: Slides & jacks are dead

It would help if you knew your RV and what it does or doesn’t have for slide motion and leveling motion.. this way I could precisely tell you where to look and what to check..
If hydrauilc slide out the THUNK noisier you are hearing is the dual polarity solenoid mo7nted on the hyd pump motor.
That indicates you are getting power to solenoid but not enough to run the pump motor..
Here is a l8nk to tell you how to test the solenoid and pump motor.
These should be located inside an access door on one of the sides and you would, not be trying to gain access via underneath
https://lci-support-doc.s3.amazonaws.com/technical-information-sheets/slideouts/ccd_0001894.pdf
There is also,a manual, override for the slide and leveling system if this is hydraulic
Need specifics as to what your systems are or aren’t to accurately help you an6 further

RE: hydro or electric leveling

Lippert Six POint Hydraulic and only Hyd slide outs... The In Wall electric slides are a finicky pain...
And for those that DONT know the hyd system .. IF THE HYD pump motor fails then the entire system is easily manually overridden with a simple cordless drill, 1/4 inch allen bit for pump motor end and 5/32 allen wrench...
If a Schwintek IN Wall slide out fails due to a motor then you have to lift both motors up out of the tracks and manually try and push the slide in
My current fifth wheel is 3 slides, all hydraulic and six point hyd level up system.. 8 years of use.. no issues with anything

RE: Tire Failure

going up a size to 10 ply E rated was a good move.. Where the tires are made is a mute point... Sailun S637 series are made in Vietnam and China and are some of the best RV tires on the road...
I am running a set of Les Schwab Geo Star 14 ply on my fifth wheel...on my sixth year with them... Made in China...

Timken bearings are NO better than OEM bearings anymore.. I have my OEM Dexter axle bearings in my 8 year old fifth wheel and see zero reason to spend money for Timkens...

RE: RV Refrigerators Cooling Issues

If you gave some specifics you will have better luck at getting some info to help..
Such as ... year/make/model of RV
Fridge info... Norcold what? perhaps a 2118, etc
The fridge will cool just fine full if it works right
Door seal gap would be first thing to check with a dollar bill.. With door closed and a dollar bill in between door seal if it pulls out easily when checked at various locations on the seal you need to adress that issue first

RE: Question on Hydraulic Fluid

If the fluid in the Lippert level up is clear it is NOT transmission fluid…
It is AW32 hydraulic oil.. nit all Lippert level up systems come from factory with Red ATF.. it depends on the builder and what they use..
My 2014 Keystone Alpine has clear fluid and is most certainly AW32..
