Electrical issue

Ok this is the situation. I am staying at a friends house/farm they set up a 30 amp plug for me to hook up to. (I already have a power surge protector on order now) well we hooked up and my breaker box started smoking (he has "converted" a 50 amp to a 30 amp outlet). we unhooked immediately and I started up my generator, everything works fine off the generator and I'm not sure what was smoking but it seemed to be coming from the inverter(converter? I only have one of these and not sure which) my question is, if the inverter/converter was fried would everything still be working in my rig? or am I gonna be screwed when I try and hook back up to shore power at the spot I'm going to tonight.

RE: Running the generator all night

Nothing deadlier than CO2. If you must at least use a Gen-turi. You mean CO: carbon monoxide not CO2: Carbon Dioxide with you exhale and is plant food. And there are many things deadlier than CO, HCN, H2S for just a few. He isn't running the generator inside is he? No our generator is housed under our motorhome.

Running the generator all night

Hello all, so we have been to a few harvest hosts and its been hot, i don't know why, but I am apprehensive about letting the generator run all night. should I be? Does anyone else do this or do you run your generator all night. The only time I use the generator is at a harvest hose like every two weeks or so.

Up grade my AC thermostat.

Hey all I wanted to see if there was anyone in an RV that has upgraded their thermostat to something like a nest? I have a dometic AC at the moment and didn't know if it was something that could be done or even should be done.

RE: AC is dripping what seems to be like a lubricant

To me, if it was lubricant of any type it would have caused issues soon after the leak was detected. I know first camping trip of the season the water coming off the roof from the AC condensation seems slimy for awhile. Hope it goes well (and not expensive) for you. Yeah, i have been monitoring it, and it was running a lot the last few days and i was thinking maybe condensation was making it drip with some left over lubricant that was flung on there long ago.. we shall see though. The guy at coachmen assured me that its probably fine. :-/

RE: AC is dripping what seems to be like a lubricant

No issues cooling, and no odd noises or smells, everything seems to be working just fine. I was thinking that maybe because its a new rig (october last year) that may be something as well.

AC is dripping what seems to be like a lubricant

Hey all, my wife noticed something that she thought was water dripping from the AC unit. opened it up and it looks like the hamsters wheel kind of thing is actually throwing some sort of lubricant out. As I am typing this I'm assuming its not good... anyone have the same issue and how did you solve it?
