RE: Very Scary Situation. What Would You Do?

If you hear knee deep water "rushing" by your RV, it's too late to do anything. Buckle up and hang on. What would I do? I would drive away the day before and head for high ground. This is why they invented weather radios and apps for your cell phone.

RE: Michigan State Parks open for winter camping

I thought they closed Michigan in the winter.

RE: Frontier Town and Fort Whaley sold OC MD

No matter how high they raise the prices, it's still will be a bargain when you go to OC. You can get real cut rates and stay at the federal or state CG without hook ups and cold shower facilities and have all the horse flies and wild pony droppings you want.

RE: Frontier town

The rates will definitely climb if they're a raider company. They have to recupe the purchase price and support the corporate structure. Another reason I like state and national parks.:w Nobody has said the aer a "raider" company. Don't even know what that means exactly. But even if they raise the rates, it's still going to be a bargain. A hotel room that I can get for 69.00 at a boardwalk hotel (Yes, I like going to OC in winter too.) is over 300 a night on a n August weekend. If you want ocean, you have to pay the money.

RE: Walmart camping

Usually rant posts, like ones about outside scare lights, laughing children, dogs in campgrounds, and Walmart parking, are reserved for this winter months. http://i.imgur.com/K3FIKLnl.jpg This post is SEVEN pages too late!! :) Now what are we going to do in December?

RE: Arriving late.

The question is, is it ok to arrive this late? It's okay by me.

RE: Frontier town

I go googled Sun group, and was surprised to see that a group from India would have an interest in Ocean City. LOL Actually, Sun Communities is the group hat purchased Frontiertown and Fort Whaley. It appears that they own lots of RV Resorts, and seniors communities. They already have these two properties on their RV locator map.

RE: CAMPGROUND PIGS

Did anyone here ever see the movie "The Grapes of Wrath"? This is what you get when you crowd too many transients into too small of space and provide little or no service.

RE: Put too much oil in, Problem?

The biggest enemy an engine has is "foaming" of the oil, which occurs when the oil level us high enough so that the crank hits the surface and churns the oil into foam, or there is too much oil for the pump to handle effectively. Instead of pumping a fluid stream of oil, the pump delivers a foam, made mostly of air, mixed with oil. When that occurs, the viscosity (thickness) of the oil is reduced, basically to the thickness of water, and is squeezed out from the bearing surfaces. Even 1/2 quart overfilled CAN produce this effect, especially in today's faster RPM engines. Ya pays ya monies, ya takes ya chances.

RE: What to see/do & where to stay in Rhode Island

Take the Newport mansion tour, go to Point Judith and eat some clam fritters at Eggys chowder house, then take the ferry to Block island. Fisherman's memorial is a very nice state park if they aren't full. In addition to these suggestion and the ones above, Providence has some great restaurants in Little Italy. After dinner you can go down to the river and see "WaterFire"

RE: Oak Ridge Tn Campground

I had to do some training in Oak Ridge a couple of years ago and I stayed at Caney Creek RV Resort in Harriman, TN. Don't know where in Oak Ridge you have to go to, but for me my commute was 25 miles. But it was all on I-40 and easy commute. Stayed on Site 42, which backed up to Caney Creek. http://i.imgur.com/SAcSdK2l.jpg

RE: What's the price "tipping point" for you?

I'm on vacation, going to where I want to go. The destination, not the price, is what the driving factor is for me.

RE: Niagara Falls Area Campgrounds

If you need full hookups: Branches of Niagara Grand Island KOA If you can deal with electric only: Four Miles Creek State Park There are a couple of others in the area, but they are only good if you just passing through.

RE: More about drinking water safety

The dependency on bottled water that has been generated by the makers of bottled water, and rumors and innuendo of illness that has been spread by social media, is just another sign of the wussification of America. America is not some third world spit hole where there are no safety regulations on water.
