Trip report/Tires

Hello every one. Here is a Report on a Trip i Just took. This was from The Kern River Valley,CA to LaRue,TX,(East TX) and back. 2005 Coachman Concord 275ds on a 2004 E450 V10 4speed. Tires: Corsa Highway Terrain Plus. I here you all ready, but here me out. all give stats first. 3 polyester + 2 Steel + 2 nylon Tread. 3 Polyester sidewall. 2470LBS duel rating. So why those tires? The RV was slated to be sold. The Firestones that were on it were old and not holding air. It had sat for a few years. I took it out for a test run to Great Basin National Park. One of the duels would not hold air, had to buy a cheapy to get home. So Americas Tire(Discount) had those for $91. Guy said alot of oil field guys bought them. Ive worked the field in Bakersfield/Kern, its rough on tires. Tire were great in the rain, maybe a little loud on some concert. They tracked good( well as good as a E-serise twin beam can). As of now I plan on keeping them for at-lest 2 years. I do recommend them especially if you think you are going to sell it latter on. I they were made in Indonesia. On to the rest. Roads SR178 to US395 to SR58 to I15 to I40. Then in New Mexico I took US84 down to I20 Then US175 the Rest. Went the same way home. There are some miscellaneous miles also. 3227.6Miles 398.663 Gallon of gas, put 45.85hr on the Generator (onan 4000) I ran 70mph as much as i could. Got 8.09MPG. Pretty happy with all that, especially when compared to my old G30 RV I had. I Was surprised on the weight. I took it through a CAT scale with full water and fuel, me my wife and 6year old boy and all our stuff.I had just dumped the holding tanks too. Front 4240 (4600) Rear 9280 (9450) Total 13520 (14050) Only 170lbs left on the rear. Water and fuel tank are behind rear axle. not much tongue weight for my 6x10 enclosed trailer. There will be an update to this next April. Should have new bilsten on all 4 corners plus the stabilizer and 5 star tuner.

RE: Big truck passing

Getting pushed around just part of the game.my 389 Peterbilt will get pushed around every so often when somebody passes me going a lot much faster. If I start to get pushed into the emergency lane I just put my foot all the way the floor and pull myself out of it, works in the motorhome too that I have

RE: Updated and solved...Door lock Trimark 30-1050/030-2650

Hey Gjac I was pretty disappointing too especially with the cost of the darn thing. And I do push on the door before unlocking it, but it's a good tip for somebody else to see

RE: 6 liter V8 Chevy Vortec question

As a GM guy the biggest thing on any of LS base motors is to get the computer reprogrammed and get rid of the torque management. You'll be like why the heck wasn't this done from the factory in the first place.H ad a 6L and a 3/4 ton you put your foot into it and get the 4,000 RPMs and watch the motor pull timing and drop RPMs plus and it shifted kind of soft. Trust me look it up on the GM forms you'll see that reprogramming the computer is the best thing since sliced bread on those things, especially turning off the displacement on demand that doesn't do anything but ruin a motor

RE: 80's Chevy G van propane tank

Hi Lwiddis. Honestly I haven't taken any measurements. I was hoping someone on The forum had a g van at least up to a 95 since it's the same body style, I need/prefer pictures cuz I got to make sure that I can still fit the second battery in there when I get that done to it, that's another story but that was on the frame rail underneath the driver's seat. It was a diesel only but the majority of the holes are there to put one in. But mainly it saves me trouble if someone has one and can tell me what size the tank is gallon wise and I can figure the rest out, same with seeing what the mounts look like

RE: Updated and solved...Door lock Trimark 30-1050/030-2650

Updated and solved. I tried The Coachman route and they say go to their suppliers. So I sent one off an email that's closest to me which was I think Sacramento or Fresno. They never replied. (Coachmen didn't reply about the receiver hitch either). So just by luck I saw RV lock keyless handles had a deal on refurbished ones. Their website showed a picture that matched what I had on that RV. I think it's called the class A Class C lock. I paid about $154 instead of 260 plus for it. While it fits there is a little bit of shaving of the deadbolt I had to do to make it lock properly. But besides that it works great finally glad to have this over. Thank you all that replied and contributed to this post I hope it will help somebody else out in the future. I will leave a link in the post under this one for the lock
