RE: New Tire Question

I put Cooper Discoverer on my Silverado 1500, but I have Pirelli AT on my Express for winter, and Continental on the Express for summer. I was really happy with the Continental TerrainContact H/T pulling my trailer to Iowa and back in August.

RE: College Football Is Just Around The Corner, Can't Wait!

Alabama and Penn State lost. Georgia, Iowa, Cincinnati, and Ohio State won as did Michigan and Michigan State. Mel Tucker has done a great job at MSU. I can see a Final Four of Alabama, Georgia, Cincinnati, And Ohio State. Trust me Lou Fickel has done a fantastic job at Cincinnati! For crying out loud, three weeks ago my alma mater The U, of Toledo almost beat Notre Dame. My favorite SEC team LSU is having a rough time so far! Hopefully things will better down in Baton Rouge! Bags. Good to hear from you Bags. Not sure that two teams from one state will be in the final four!

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

where is the semi?I'm listening, but hearing nothing but crickets. But after all it's only been 4 years. :)That is because those crickets are busy building the factory in TX. And Semi seems to have been pushed to come after ModelY & CT at the plant under construction. But the mouth said they were going to build the semi and deliver to all those companies that donated $20k years ago. Tusk did not say, give me your $20k and I will build a few more factories, build other model cars and pickups, and then you will get your semi. It seems that they knew how to get free loans from large companies, on a promise that has not been proven. So I expect to see the fanboys call me a "hater". I believe competition is best for the consumers, but we have a thread for years about a semi and the excuses, stories, and reasons why there is no Semi.

RE: 2022 Superduty launch delayed

Sorry to hear that. My Silverado was built yesterday. Will be watching the transportation events. At least I know that they will not ship via rail from Flint. Just hope that the front bumper does not get damaged in shipping. That had been a problem, and delayed the Denali a month last December.

RE: Looking into getting first TT

I own a 2017 3500 Express 15 passenger van to tow my trailer. Although my youngest turns 21 in a week, I still enjoy the van for family towing. I will admit that since I have had the Express, the most passengers I have had while towing is 2 people or 2 dogs. I took my camper to Iowa this summer, and averaged 8.9 mpg. I added a wind deflector to the roof the day before I departed. There was only one passenger, and I kept my speeds below 65 mph. The Express is not a daily driver, but does great service when taking day trips to wineries or breweries or weddings. I have not had issues in the snow, I have a dedicated set of wheels/tires that I install, and add 200lbs to the rear (or add passengers). Vans are not as cool, but the pricing had been fantastic. I bought my 2014 in 2015, and my 2017 in early 2019, and both were under $24k used with less than 20k miles.

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

... As much as I like my Silverado, GM Bolts catching fire all over without even crashing dont inspire confidence in their products. Notice by GM,,park your Bolts at least fifty feet away from other cars! Would be funny if it wasnt so sad. Btw Tesla is largest EV manufacturer in the World now. When GM makes as many Evs then you can brag, hatin on Tesla makes you look silly. FYI It takes bit of a time to build two Gigafactories. GM isnt even trying to get in the game. And judgin by price of Tesla stock it beats GM and pretty much every other auto co hands down as an investment. I do not hate Tesla, or Ford, or Ram or Kia any auto company. I try to provide accurate data, and present additional facts to those that are pushing their agenda. The stock market is a place to wager. I am saying that GM, Ford, and Stellantis each had more quarterly revenue than Tesla. Please provide a notice to park 50 ft away. This is just your attempt to provide negative statements. There may have been as many Tesla's running into stationary emergency vehicles as Bolts caught fire. To be clear, GM says: At Chevrolet it is our mission to keep you, our customer, at the center of everything we do. To that end, we are writing you today to hear from Chevrolet directly about your vehicle. General Motors is voluntarily expanding the current Chevrolet Bolt EV recall to cover the remaining 2019 and all 2020-2022 model year vehicles, including the Bolt EUV. In rare circumstances, LG batteries supplied to GM for these vehicles may have manufacturing defects which increase the risk of fire. Out of an abundance of caution, GM will replace defective lithium ion battery modules in Chevrolet Bolt EVs and EUVs with new modules as parts become available. To provide you with peace of mind, your battery will receive an 8-year/100,000-mile limited parts warranty.1 We are working aggressively with LG to increase production as soon as possible. We will notify you when replacement parts are ready. For your safety we are asking for you to immediately do the following: 1. Set your vehicle to a 90% state of charge limitation using Target Charge Level mode. Instructions on how to do this are available at www.chevy.com/boltevrecall. If you are unable to successfully make these changes, or do not feel comfortable making these changes, GM is asking you to visit your dealer to have these adjustments completed. 2. Charge your vehicle more frequently and avoid depleting your battery below approximately 70 miles (113 kilometers) of remaining range, where possible. 3. Park your vehicle outside immediately after charging and do not leave your vehicle charging indoors overnight. Besides, this thread was about a semi. And a company that took millions of dollars of deposits from other company's with a promise to deliver. There has been no delivery.

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

One thing to remember is that right now Tesla has all of their production lines running full speed but still can't keep up, even after raising the price on the Model Y by $5k in the past 6 months. Most competitors have lines and employees sitting around doing nothing. It is a lot easier to justify changing over production facilities that are idle than those that are bringing in millions of dollars every day. I think you need to realize that GM is producing more vehicles a day than Tesla. You might also notice that GM has had better financial results than Tesla for many consecutive quarters. GM is also more transparent, providing delivery details for US while Tesla only gives one consolidated number. The point is, that two years ago, many of you did not believe that GM or Rivian could build an electric truck. Make all the excuses you can, or heap all the praise you can for Tesla.

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

Wow- - Where is the Tesla Semi? Where is their pickup? I think 100 pages back I put my money on Rivian as the first. I think the GMC Hummer EV pickup will be the second. I think I indicated that GM would have them out in 2021 like they announced. I keep seeing them on the road!

RE: Tow capabilities

The hitch is only rated for 1000lbs. You will be very close to exceeding that.

RE: 2022 HD trucks delivery date

OK, 3 pages now and no one that ordered a new 2022 HD truck has received it. Not even those who ordered one last March, that's 6 months ago. Hard to believe this country is in this kind of shape. SDcampowneroperator ordered a GM HD and has received his. Vehicles are allocated to all dealers. You must be sure that the dealer will be placing your order against their allocation.

RE: Does the Color of an HD Pickup Make a Difference?

Thank you all for your input on my question. I have chosen Silver. I tried to find a Greenstone Metallic in person, but both were delivered to customers before I reached a salesperson. As for the economics side, I have no reason to worry. I would just end up with a very nice 4x4 truck to drive to Iowa, haul hay wagons, tow my trailer when I do not need my Express, and get through Michigan winters.

RE: Does the Color of an HD Pickup Make a Difference?

the cajun red 3500 hd 2021 we ordered and took delivery of in June is admired everywhere we go. it will be many years or so before we contemplate selling, ... I miss the days in the '90s where the 2 tone teals and pearlescent whites added some custum look. ... Since you work for GM, salespeople would give you better guidance than we can on such a short term ownership plan. I have seen one Cajun Red and did admire it. I was real close to ordering that color. My daughter now has a 2021 3500 Denali Duramax in White Frost Tricoat. I am not sure that I would get my $1000 extra at resale. This cost her $63k in June. I have talked to some salespeople, and have access to all the colors of all the GM vehicles. However, just because we paint them the color the dealer orders, does not mean it is the color the customer wanted. For those that say I will lose money, I appreciate your comments. I have been successful selling vehicles that I purchased because of pricing. I had contemplated a 1500 Silverado with the 3.0 Dmax, but that seemed to have a risky resale. I believe that 3500 HD Dmax will not have resale risk. And besides, if the economy tanks, and nobody can afford to buy a truck, I will have a really nice pickup.

RE: Does the Color of an HD Pickup Make a Difference?

...Seems like now isn't the best time to buy a new truck and plan to make money when you sell it in a year or so. I always thought the idea was to buy low and sell high, not vice versa. :) I have the opportunity to buy low. I do not think prices will drop in the next year.

Does the Color of an HD Pickup Make a Difference?

I am contemplating if I order a 3500 CC Silverado LTZ. If I do, I plan to sell the truck in a year. When you shop for your truck, is color important? I do not want black, my wife said no to white or bright red. She said blue until she saw the HD in blue. I had built an order with Cherry Red, but was now thinking about Silver or going with the new Greenstone metallic. I have not seen the Greenstone in person, and the two that were at dealers have both been sold and the dealer does not have a real picture of the vehicle. Does the color matter?

RE: New Chevy / GMC 3500HD options

We are also looking at ordering a 2022 and wondering what delivery date they are giving you. Our dealer is very vague about delivery date given there are many 2021 trucks still waiting to get their computer chips. My dealer thinks GM is going to want to push these out to market before getting excited about delivering 2022 trucks. GM is producing and shipping 2022 HDs. If you are thinking of ordering, your dealer will need to have allocation so that they may place the order. If the dealer is vague, they may not have allocation to place your order, but would earn it in the future months. GM has focused on Full-Size SUVs and Trucks.

RE: New Chevy / GMC 3500HD options

I have driven three different 2020/2021 trucks. I have had three different tailgates. The power up and down would be what I will order on a LTZ. The multi-pro tailgate is useful in some scenarios. Of course, I had a standard bed (so Grit dog knows I only play with my toys) so flipping to prevent the 8ft lumber from sliding was extremely convenient with the multi-pro. I found it more convenient to have the power up tailgate overall. I would put the heavy duty front springs on the vehicle. The vehicle I ordered and drove for 4 months did contain them.

RE: Truck upgrade?

So I just made the I-80 trip across Iowa with a 6.0 V8 gas engine in my Express. My trailer is 9500lbs. On some of the larger hills I needed 3700 rpm to maintain 60 mph. You would need to see where the V8 makes it power. Towing a trailer uphill at 65-70 mph takes alot of power.

RE: GM 6.6 gas

I had a 2020 Silverado 3500 regular cab dually with the 6.6 gas. I had it for more than a year. I never pulled in mountains, but I did pull a hill from a stop at the bottom with over 15k pounds without a problem. Fuel economy was as stated earlier. I never felt that the 6 sp transmission impacted performance for me. I have also driven a 2021 3500 Crew with the Duramax. And yes, it did better. Not sure what I will order after I tow my travel trailer next week to Iowa with my van. I expect that the comfort and trailering capabilities of the new trucks will convince me to place the order. Weird news coming from the guy who’s been pimpin vans as awesome tow vehicles…. Ever hear of having more than one vehicle? If the General provides a dually for me to drive, I am going to drive it. If they provide a 3500 Crew, I am going to drive it. Sticker was above $83k on the 3500 Crew. For families, I will always be pimpin a used rental van as a trailer towing value. I purchased less than 2 yrs old and 30k miles for $22k. It is a third of the cost of a pickup. For somebody who is getting to be an old geezer, and experienced the comfort of a Denali with a Duramax and all the cameras, and can save 20% off a new truck while the public is paying MSRP, there is a potential for a new truck. Additionally, it allows me to help my daughter haul straw and hay.
